The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Hmph. Now I guess I'll just talk to myself." He says, looking up at the cieling. He thinks about how he hasn't been out as The Archer in nearly a week and a half, and thinks about how he's going to deal with things now. Sooner or later, he falls asleep, holding on tightly to Ella.
Sometime during the middle of the night, Derek gets an itch. He looks out his window, and then back at Ella. He sighs, sitting up and rubbing his head. He reaches into his nightstand for a post-it note and a pen. He writes something down quickly and leaves it on his pillow.
"I'm so sorry about this, a business assosciate called and I have to meet him tonight. Something about someone messing something up and- well don't worry yourself with my business. If you happen to read this before I get back, I'm very sorry, I'll make it up to you tomorrow night. If you don't get to read this...well you wont read it...
-Derek"
With that, Derek goes downstairs and to his garage. There's one thing he didn't take to the mansion, his prototype Archer suit. Not as much armor and he doens't have all his gear, but it'll due for tonight. He suits up and heads out.

The Archer makes it back early in the morning around four. Derek hides everything well inside of a locked storage locker, and heads back upstairs. Derek walks up the stairs and back to his room, opening the door slightly as he sneaks in.
*Ella wakes up as Derek gets into bed she waits for him to fall asleep. After she is sure he is asleep she quietly gets up and gets dress and sneaks out. Leaving him a note:* Guess I'll miss your work out. See you later. ~Ella.

Derek wakes up late in the morning the next day. He reads the note, laughing slightly as he lays back in bed, looking out the window at the bright sun. He gets out of bed after about an hour of just sitting there, and takes a shower. When he is washed up, he heads downstairs and into his office.
He sits down at his computer, and checks the local news about anything big or even if there is a mention of The Archer or not. Nothing at all, or at least nothing that interests him. He leans back in his chair, feeling very bored until his doorbell rings. Derek stands up and goes to his door, unsure of who would be here since his business is closed today.
Derek opens the door to a man about five foot eleven and around two hundred pounds.
"Hello, can I help you?" Derek asks, looking at this unfamiliar face.
"Yes, I think you can." The man says, stepping into Derek's home as if it were his own. "I'm Detective Owens with the police department, and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions."
"Can I see your badge?" Derek asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
"If it'll get you to answer my questions, yes." He says, handing Derek his badge.
Derek looks at it, memorizing the badge number and name. "Ok, what are your questions?" Derek asks, handing back Detective Owen's badge.
"Well, my case involves a certain vigilante this city seems to have obtained within the last year." Owens says, sniffing.
"The Archer, I've heard of him." Derek says, going into cop mode. "What about him?" He asks, acting nothing but normal.
"Well I know that you used to be at the department, and I was wondering if you know of any leads that i may be able to pick up on." Detective Owens says, acting like he knows more than he is letting on.
"Detective Owens, I left the force before any news of this Archer fellow showed up. Sure, he may have been around before I left, but I did not know of him. I have no more knowledge of him than the rest of the public." Derek says, his old skills coming into play as he seems to fool Detective Owens.
Detective Owens sighs, believing Derek. "Well, since you are a private investigator, if you get any information about The Archer, I would appreciate it if you shared it with me. Thank you for your time, Mr. Black." He says, heading out the door just as quickly as he came in.
Derek shuts the door, aggravated. "This is just getting better and better." Derek says, talking to himself as he goes back to his computer.
Sooner or later, he thinks about Ella. About how things have gone far from what he initially intended them to go. He thinks about it for a while, and then picks up his phone dialing her number.

Derek answers the door in some relaxed clothing, a pair of shorts and white t-shirt. "Hey," He says, letting her in the house. "Party, huh?" He asks, shutting the door and leading her into the living room.
*Ella shruggs,* If you're good, who knows. Other wise, what are we watching? *Ella says, she is standing there in slacks and a nice red clingy shirt. Not dressy for her, exactly.*

"Sin City, it's pretty good for being based off a comic book. To be honest, I think comic books are stupid." Derek says, shrugging as he sits down on the couch.
And I think you want everyone in this 'city' to kick your ass. *Ella comments on this New York's well known strong love of comics. She says as she walks into his apartment and heads for the living room.*

"Meh, I could take 'em." Derek says as Ella sits down next to him on the couch. He picks up the DVD remote and presses play. "Have you ever seen this before?"
Are you kidding, should we go to a dock and play pretend? I actually have the comics. Frank Miller is amazing, Quention is the icing on the cake. *Ella says without pausing.*
