The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amber had tried to her best to be a good person. She had tried to be tolerant of those humans who so clearly wished her harm simply because she was a mutant. She had tried to be understanding of the fact that just because some humans were intolerant didn't mean that they all were. It wasn't easy, of course, when it seemed like every other day she was confronted by some human or another who seemed to hate and resent her simply because she had unnatural black eyes, but that didn't mean that she didn't try. She had always believed that one should judge someone by how they themselves chose to act and not pass that judgements onto others simply because they looked similar or happened to be a part of the same group. Recent events, however, made it very difficult for her to maintain such an attitude. Or more truthfly, one specific recent event.
Although Amber had found a certain degree of acceptance after being adopted by Abyss, both in The Mansion where she went to school and in Sanctuary where she lived, there were still very few people she felt comfortable truly confiding in. One of those people was her sister, Aura who, despite rumours of being homocidal and potentially unstable, was still family and therefore someone to turn to in times of trouble. She didn't know if Aura would be able to help, nor even what kind of help she was looking for. Everything in her head was a roil of confusion and fear and al she really knew for certain was that she had to talk about it. Even if she didn't want to talk about it and certainly didn't want to relive those horrible experiences, for the sake of her sanity she knew she had to. And sometimes a Ghost's comforting words just weren't enough.
Amber quietly walked out of her room, eyes downcast, holding her black robes close to herself, both dreading and looking forward to speaking to her sister. It still gave her a thrill of joy, sometimes, to think that she, the orphan, should actually have a sister and a father, for that matter. Softly, she knocked on Aura's door, hoping her older sibling was there. She knew Aura often went out at night, though she wasn't certain of the details of why. Nevertheless, who was she to judge keeping odd hours, since she herself was usually in the city in the hours between midnight and dawn? She waited, just a little nervously, to see if anyone was home to answer.
Aura had for the better part of the day laid in bed, staring at the one picture she had of her past she could be sure of. The only picture that was physical, touchable, rooted in reality. The false memories had not risen in some time, but she knew they waited at the edges of her mind. Aura glanced over at the laptop, almost a sacred relic to her and yet it denied anything Aura tried to do with it. She had no idea what Miracle may have used for a password or even if she should have taken it at all. She even felt guilty every so often on it. Her a lowly solider handling the sacred data of her old master. She could justify taking it but was less sure about using it now.
She was the reason they were dead after all, her failure to obey an order, has cost many their lives and the god's had cursed her by making her live through it all. Sitting up she decided she would have to move on let someone else try and figure out the moral implications of stealing god given information. Making it to her feet she crushed a spider with a quickly made Aura axe, leaving a slash in the wall, half the Spider fell to the floor. "If only the humans would fall so easily" she said to herself
Aura had started cooking in her room, though security had not been keep on removing the smoke detector in her room. She had cured the issue by giving them the remains when it 'broke'. Aura was unsure what Lynx's did in the wild but the human she gotten it through said they were normally food products. Aura heard a knock at her door and kicking the fur pile aside walked to the door and opened it, smiling when she saw the face of her sister. "Hello, i was just cooking" she said cheerfully. Aura did not stop to hink that her bone furnature might bother anyone.
As Amber stood there waiting for her older sister to answer, she couldn't stop the thoughts in her own head. Her entire life she had been the victim, from the moment her parents had abandoned her to the orphanage all the way to present time. When she had discovered she was a mutant she had thought that would change, after all now she had these amazing powers. Unfortunately it hadn't, if anything it had gotten worse. Before discovering what she truly was, she had never had to worry about angry mobs or kidnappings. She was no one and nothing special and therefore no one cared one little bit about her, certainly not enough to actually try to do anything to her. The most she had to worry about, at that time, were harsh words and the occasional peer beating. Now, despite the amazing things she could do, bad things simply kept happening and happening and it was time for that to change. She was no longer going to be victimized, she would be come strong and then no one would hurt her anymore.
"Hello, i was just cooking"
The door opened and Amber smiled at her sister in some relief, scenting some manner of cooking meat coming from the room. "D-do you mind if I talk to you about something Aura?" Looking past her sister and into her room, it was the first time Amber had actually seen the place. It was, suffice to say, somewhat morbid with all of the...bone furniture? Was she seeing that right? A blink of the eyes confirmed that yes, she was in fact seeing it correctly. It struck her as a little morbid, but after all if an animal was dead why not put its bones to practical use. Besides, she had known for quite some time that her sister did have some violent tendencies. The issues of the bone furniture resolved in her mind, she didn't think about it again. The idea that the furniture might have been made from something other than animal bones didn't even cross her mind.
"I think I need to learn to defend myself against the humans." There, it was said, although Amber felt a twinge of nervousness about saying it so bluntly. After all, wasn't it a bad thing to have something against a group of people simply because they were human rather than mutant? Wasn't that just as bad as humans who hated mutants just because they were mutant? But she didn't hate all humans, and it wasn't like she was going to go out and start killing them or anything. The fact was, however, she needed to know how to defend herself because, as much as she would prefer otherwise, they hated her for what she was. If she didn't do something about it, they would keep abusing her, keep attacking her and keep kidnapping her and doing experiments on her. Something had to change, she couldn't keep things up the way they were going, otherwise she would lose her mind and possibly her life as well.
Amber looked up at her sister, expectantly. Aura was lucky that she was able to hide what she was. Even if both her sister and father had told her that her eyes were a gift, displaying for all the world her superior genetics, they were also the thing that had mostly gotten her into so much trouble in the past. She wished, sometimes, more than anything that she could just blend in with the humans around her so that they'd never suspect that she was anything different. She never wished to get rid of her powers, even with the curses that came with them, but sometimes she wished she could just look normal for once.
"Defending yourself is a worthy goal and one i am sure you will be good at it. I can help you with that actually if you like, after all humans are often dangerous creatures" she said nodding to her sister. "But with the power to defend yourself however comes the power to kill." she said softly. She did want to scare her sister, but it was true that people often died in combat and killing your opponent was normally the best way to ensure they would not harm you again. Still her sister never seemed the fighter she was and Aura was unsure she was willing to kill at all. She waived her sister into the room with a smile.
"If you like, i can take care of any issues you may be having" she said simply. She did not mind getting dirty for her sister. In fact if it were the right types of people she might even be able to have some fun with them, though she imagined in ways her sister would not care to hear about. "it is no surprise the humans would give you an issue, they are jelous by nature after all" she said shaking her head. It occurred to her that Amber had no idea what Aura did most of the time. She offerd no details but would not lie to her sister either, at least as much as she could without betraying her leader.
"it can be a very cruel world out there and the day will come, when you may have to kill a human to survive. In my experience it some times can not be helped" she said trying to entice her with the littile bit of information. If her sister wanted to defend herself that was fine, but Aura did have to question why she would not seek out someone at the mansion for simple defense. She guessed it could be becuse they were related or maybe that she knew aura could fight, either way she would offer her help. "Transformed theirs not much a human could do to you, but as you are i can see whare you might have issues" she said not trying to deride her but thinking aloud.
Amber knew that her sister was the right person to go to in order to learn to defend herself. Aura was a strong person, never the victim and Amber admired her greatly for that. If Aura could be strong, competent and capable, then so could she. Of course the idea of accidentally killing someone in self defense was disturbing, but it was only right that her dear sister should warn her of such an eventuality. After all, she needed to know everything, the positives, negatives and any risks involved and when it came to the use of combative powers the risk of death was an unfortunate possibility. She tried not to let it bother her that only half a year prior, she never would have even considered the possibility of death at all, unfortunate or not. Now was not the time to worry about such things.
"When I went on my trip, some very bad scientists c-captured me, did experiments on me and m-made me fight bears," Amber offered up an explanation about why she needed to learn self defense. She felt she owed it to her sister, not only because she was family and needed to know what Amber had gone through, but also to let her know why she needed to learn such dangerous skills. "I d-don't think they were jealous, but they wanted to know how a d-dinosaur fared against modern animals." It was pretty clear to Amber that her capture really wasn't any real scientist, because surely a real scientist would have far more ethics than to simply lock someone up and force them into combat to the death. Even a real scientist who care for mutants, surely, must be better than that. True science should have been an ideal to live by, not something to be abused.
"I d-don't want to kill anyone," Amber told Aura in quiet voice. "I j-just want to be left alone." But what if it came to that? What if it was her or her enemy? Would she be willing to do something as awful and permanent as ending a life in order to save her own? 6 months ago the answer would have been a definitive no, but now she wasn't so certain. 6 months ago she hadn't been caged and forced to fight against her will. 6 months ago she hadn't known the depth of human cruelty, not like she knew it now. 6 months ago was a very long time ago in the mind of a 16 year old teenager.
"I don't want to kill anyone, but I want to learn to defend myself, even at the risk of someone dying." This time Amber's voice was much stronger, much more sure of itself. This was something that she needed to do, no matter the cost. "I can fight transformed, s-sometimes although I need practice. But maybe I need to learn to use a knife or s-something. While like this." It was a terrifying though, to intentionally wield a steel knife against another person, but it was a necessary thought.
Aura's anger flared in such a powerful way, she did not notice her Aura flare up. Her balled fist struck the wall, which would normally have done little, but her anger formed a drill and she knocked a hole through the wall into the hallway before she realized her Aura was even on. Her Aura was not the smooth solid looking structure she normally made, this was fluid and looked like waves across her body. The effect calmed down however when she reestablished her mental control. She was still seething with anger however that humans had even touched her sister much less abused her. Aura was surprised by her own raw anger at the idea her sister had been hurt by humans. Aura tried to force her anger aside, Still she could picture killing each and every one of the damned humans who had even looked at amber wrong. Aura herself had considered fighting bear's which she had only done once, a long time ago and with backup. "Bear's huh?" She said tilting her head.
Aura felt her anger well up again, this time forming a hammer but she quickly dismissed the crudely made aura weapon and sat down on her bed. She waited until Amber was finished but she was still considering how best to make the humans suffer for this atrocity. "My dear sister, if had known...." she said though she stopped to try and drain some of the anger from her body, the attempt failed. With a few deep breaths she continued.
"I will train you, but first i need you to tell me anything that might be useful in finding who and whare they took you. It is very important, humans like that may not leave you alone and they might well come back" she said with a sigh. This was a pressing issue they had to solve right away or it might not matter if she started training amber. "Training will take awhile those humans may well be back sooner then that......" she Said gathering her thoughts further. This threat had to be dealt with and soon.
"I was once in a similar situation, Humans like that may stop with you, but if they want to find you it won't be hard. News of Dinosaurs and Aura wielders get's out fast" she said knowing both would be good at grabbing headlines. "Even if they do not come after you, those types of people may capture another mutant, one less able to fight and they may well let him or her die, it happens often enough. I will need to find these scientists and ensure they will not harm another mutant again" She said trying to be of comfort to her sister. "If you recall little that's ok as well, but any information might be helpful" she said looking away from her sister. "Either way they will regret it when i find them" she said bitterly.
Amber's eyes widened and she cringed back slightly when Aura's aura flared in anger and she punched a hole through the wall. She knew that her sister wasn't angry at her, but she was scary when she was that mad. Scary and dangerous and it served to reinforce the fact that Amber was glad she was her sister. Not only was she strong and dangerous, but her very anger was proof that she took their familial ties just as strongly as Amber herself did. She did not envy anyone who happened to have Aura for an enemy, although if they did they had probably done something to deserve her sister's anger.
"You c-couldn't have known," Amber answered a little sadly. "It was just supposed to be a simple trip down to New Jersey for a few weeks to visit an archeological dig site. A-Abyss worked it out for me, s-so I might be able to find a new form. B-but something went wrong and I got kidnapped. So...ya..." She didn't know what else to say to her sister. She wasn't looking for pity and there wasn't much of anything that could be done about the past anyway. What happened had happened and she would simply have to learn to live with it. Live with it and learn from it so that something like that could never happen again.
The idea that the humans who had kidnapped her might come searching for her to take her back hadn't even occurred to Amber she shuddered at the thought. What if the scientists who had captured her were unhappy enough that their prize test subject had escaped that they were willing to track her down in New York? It was far away, but it probably wasn't impossible to track down a mutant who could turn into dinosaurs, all they would have to do is follow the dinosaur reports. She and Kaitlyn had even made it onto youtube once and there simply couldn't be many other dinosaurs in the world.
"I d-don't want to get hurt again and I d-don't want any other mutants to get hurt either." It was the first time Amber had considered other mutants getting hurt by humans, the same bad humans that had hurt her. Was she a terrible selfish person to have never considered it before? Perhaps learning to defend the defenseless was just as important as learning to defend herself. "I c-can give you the address of where I was staying when I was taken. I d-don't know exactly where they are, but they couldn't be far from there." She tried not to think about what Aura might actually do to the scientists, although whatever it was she couldn't' help but feel like they probably deserved it for what they did. Actions led to consequences and bad actions sometimes led to bad consequences. "I c-could probably even bring you there." If Aura was with her then she wouldn't feel afraid, not like if she happened to go there alone.
"I know you don't but Humans will not likely stop and i have little belief those humans have just played with you WHen the Humans took me they ran tests on others thare and i recall abyss saying humans did research on him as well. So Even if this group did this only once their may be others who will do the same" she said shaking her head, een as she doused the fire and took in the smell of the roasting meat.
"Are you sure you want to go? Things are likely to get very messy and the time would likely come whare you would need to end the life of another to preserve not only your own and mine but anyone we might find under the humans tender fingers" she said, her voice made clear she despised the ide aof humans doing such things to mutants. " Still it would be one heck of a way to train" Aura said tilting her head at the idea.
"I will take you, but you need to promise me you will do as i ask if we end up fighting humans. I have a lot of combat experience" she said honestly, She was worried about Amber getting scared if any real troublle started up. "Did you see any fire arms on anyone?" she asked thinking about the best way to plabn this al out. Aura assumed they would if they were dealing with mutants like Amber who could turn into things.
Why did humans have to be so terrible to mutants? Was it some evolutionary mandate that because mutants were the next step in evolution that humans had to hate them? Was it, as Aura suggested, jealousy at their power? Was it fear about what they could do with their power? Of the scientists who had captured her, jealousy was something Amber could understand more than fear, they hadn't really seemed to be particularly afraid of her. They hadn't really needed to be.
"They just don't see us as being equal t-to them," Amber replied with a thoughtful frown. "They see us like animals." It was a profoundly disturbing revelation, but how could she come to any other conclusion? Not only had she been cruelly experimented on, but so had the two most important people in her life. Humans did not experiment upon fellow humans, they only experimented on animals and therefore the only logical conclusion was that humans must think of mutants as animals. Or at least some humans must, she wasn't willing to place all humans into the same category.
"I want to go," Amber answered with just a little more confidence than she actually felt. She was afraid of what she might find back at the dig site, afraid of confronting her captors and afraid of what she might be forced to do when she did confront them. But she also knew that they couldn't remain unpunished, not after what they had done to her and not if they might do the same to other mutants, mutants not so lucky to escape as she had been.
"I'll d-do whatever you say I need to." Amber trusted Aura implicitly and knew this was her area of expertise. "They had guns and tranq guns. I don't think th-they actually wanted to shoot me b-because they needed me, but they had guns just in case." She had been hit by a tranquilizer dart more than once and it wasn't fun at all.
"Humans do not see us equal and they should not. Mutants and Humans are not equal. Think of all the Mutations you have seen in our people, can any human truly equal such power? Mutants evolved from humans and history shows us when a species evolves, the old is cast aside and dies off" She said with passion in her voice. "Weather we dance or hide, the humans will come for us, our families and our children and they wont care" she said honestly believing their could never be peace. Mutants could do a job in moments what might take humans days, how could they ever be equal in anything?
"Fine, but let me do the grunt work, i take a bullet pretty well and im used to a good dance." She said with a smile. In truth she was afraid to put her sister in a position whare she might have to directly kill some one. Aura did not consider the mental damage that might do her sister, instead Aura's reason's were more practical. As far as she knew Amber had fought littile and even then she never killed anyone, if her sister hesitated at a poor moment, she might get herself killed. Aura ahd watched the fate happon to many mutants fresh out of training and Amber lacked the training Miracle had demanded.
"A tranq dart is based on weight......" she said thinking to herself. It meant they were good at guessing dinosaur weight or they had a fare idea what one should weigh. "You may not want to tell those mansion people about this one either, they like you after all" Aura said assuming they did as she still want to school there. Aura on the other hand always made sure to stay several feet from the mansion gates.
Aura sniffed the air, spun around and doused the fire under the once noble cat. It wa sa littile burnt but the meat should e fine, Aura thought to herself. "This thing was a lynx, never cooked one before" she said which was true. Aura had a rather adventurous diet. In the wood's you somtimes had to ctahc your own dinner and one learned to eat whatever non-poisonous meat they could find. Aura however loved eating new animals. "How is school anyway?" She asked not remembering her own schooling, knowing only vaguely she even went.
Amber didn't like to think of herself as superior to humans, nor to think of mutants in general as being superior to humans. Sure, she could do something amazing that no human could possibly even imagine, but did that make her innately better than them? After all, with their weapons and tools they could do many of the things that mutants could do. But even with the best tools, they couldn't possibly know what it was like to actually change their form into something else entirely. And she was far from the only mutant to have a power that no human could replicate, even with the best of tools. Ghost, for example, she recalled could make her body incorporeal and that wasn't something that even she, a fellow mutant, could comprehend entirely. Maybe Aura was right about what she said, that mutants were, in some way, superior. But was it in a way that truly mattered? And was that truly the reason why humans hated their kind so much? Because they knew that mutants were inherently superior and were therefore jealous and afraid of mutants?
Amber nodded at Aura's advice, seeing the wisdom in it immediately. Although she could take care of herself if need be, she was far from the experienced fighter her sister was. Her mind considered what she might be able to do to keep herself useful and after a moment of pondering she spoke. "I th-think I might have an idea. Have you ever wanted to go into battle riding a dinosaur?" Amber grinned, thinking about the medieval knights riding in on their horses. Well, she could become a dinosaur much more dangerous than any mere horse and she was fairly sure that here sister's aura powers could create whatever weapon might be most appropriate to use from dinosaur back. Plus, wasn't there an old cartoon called Dino Riders in which people rode dinosaurs into battle? If the cartoons could do it, then so could she!
"Oh, I won't tell anyone at the Mansion," Amber nodded, agreeing with Aura's wisdom. She was reasonably certain that not too many of them would approve of her going after her captors, even if doing so would provide a sense of closure and relief to that portion of her life. It would be empowering to be able to show those evil individuals that there were actual consequences to their actions. Even if the human justice system wasn't willing to defend the rights of mutants, they could defend their own rights.
"I've never had lynx before." It didn't strike Amber as all that unusual to think of eating something like lynx. After all, she was a hunter by nature and while shifted often killed and ate her own live prey. The only reason she really hadn't had lynx before was that it wasn't usually found in the city. "School's g-going fine. No one at the M-Mansion tries to kidnap me or d-do experiments on me." She couldn't' quite help the note of bitterness that entered her voice. The fact that she should even have to worry about such things was unjust in the extreme.
"Well to be honest untill i met you, i had no idea what one was so no. However that is an excellent idea, it could work very well" she said approvingly. She liked the idea but had never considerd it up until this point. Still if Amber could change into somthing big enough, they could well get the jump on would be guards. I also meant they could cover more ground and she could scout the area. Amber had confirmed they had guns which told Aura either they would come after amber again or they would grab another mutant, much as she suspected.
"Good, I am not popular thare" she said with the shake of her head. SHe had even called the emergency lines to get them their medical attention. Still even Frosty had seemed quite keep on getting her out the door. Some people took things much to personal in her opinion. Still the scientists were human and would not require medical assistance ever. "People can take things to personally" she said having to think for a moment to find the right phrase.
"Yea you can't buy it easily" she said though she was not quite sure why the animal was not at the supermarket. "Ye attacking the mansion with the x-men thare would be suicide, like attacking Sanctuary with the ord..er."She said stopping dead as she did. That was information she under no reason should have granted Amber. SHe wa sunsure what to do. Aura breify entertained the idea of running her sister through to make sure she could never leak the information. Others knew though so she discarded the violence idea and instead said somthing else.
"I am curious, sister at the mansion has anyone mentioned me?" she asked curiously, wondering how much her sister had heard about her. She figured many thare if it was like sanctuary might not even know her, Still she had made the news a number of times and had sent several Mansion residents to the infirmary. SHe wonderd if Amber had ever met mama but discarded the question figuring her sister might have a few of her own..
My now Amber was used to the fact that her sister didn't know many things that she and most others took for granted, so she didn't let her lack of knowledge about dinosaurs phase her. Although she didn't know all the details of her sister's past, she knew that it was bad, worse than her own past and her own wasn't exactly happy. She knew her sister had suffered abuse at the hands of humans and that she had grown up in a forest and that violence was involved, but she wasn't even certain that she wanted to know more than that. Aura's past had scarred her in ways that Amber wasn't even certain she could begin to comprehend and, perhaps, it was partly her her responsibility as Aura's sister to try and help her with those issues, just as Aura was trying to help Amber with some of her own problems.
"Mostly the people at the Mansion are nice to me," Amber replied. She couldn't tell if it bothered her sister, the fact that she wasn't welcome there. It didn't seem like it, but just in case she wanted to make sure. "M-maybe they just need to give you another chance. Sometimes people are too quick to judge." As she had come to learn in the most painful way possible since becoming a mutant. It had gotten even worse recently, as she was looking more and more like a disease victim. Mutants and humans alike, it seemed, didn't like to be around someone that looked like they might pass along some horrible illness.
"I'm pretty sure you can't buy lynx at a store," Amber laughed softly at the thought. "M-most people have more particular tastes. And it might be illegal." Amber wasn't exactly certain about the last part of it although she was fairly certain that one technically needed a license to hunt something like that. She didn't particularly care, however, nor did she find it all that odd that Aura would have somehow killed herself one. Her sister might not have had the senses and build of a natural predator like she had in one of her forms, but she still had the skills of a hunter. "Actually, it might be a challenge to hunt lynx."
"Order?" The word caused Amber's interest to pique. She knew a little about the Kabal having heard of it from her roommate in the Mansion and spoken about it with Lenna. But was the Order another organization meant to help mutants? If so, and if her sister was a part of it, then surely it must be something important, something noble. Her sister's words about the infeasibility of attacking the Mansion didn't particularly concern her. Aura was a warrior and a soldier, after all, so of course she would consider such things even if she would never go through with them.
"No one really m-mentioned you. D-does this Order help mutants?" Because Amber's mind had recently gone to the idea that it wasn't only herself that was important to help, but maybe other mutants as well. She would no longer be the victim and she would help, if she could, others to not be victims either. It wasn't right and it wasn't just.
"What i am about to say should not be repeated. Abyss is also of the order, a member long before i ever found the place. The Order and the X-men both fight for mutant kind but our methods are much different. The Order fight for Mutant supremacy and to stand for those mutants who would otherwise be in danger. Have you ever noticed the high population of mutants in this neighborhood?" SHe asked her sister knowing it was high because a number of humans had sold their homes to get away from protection fees. "The real difference is, The Order knows these humans who harm our kind will get off lightly and likely harm more mutants. whare the x-men would let those same humans harm mutants again and again, the order has a more permanent solution" She said with a smile, though mentally she swore at herself for slipping.
"They don't like me at the mansion because my criminal record is big enough to wall paper the place. I may have sent a few people from the place to their infirmary as well. I won't lie to you Sister, i have killed a great many people and more then likely a few more in the days to come" She said as she walked to the far end of her room and picked up the lone picture in the room, The picture was burned in places and had several bad creases, but their were a number of girls in the picture.
"I watched the humans kill every one of them and many others, threaten baby mutants with obvious mutant traits. I watched Mutants get attacked just for minding their own business. Still the Order prefers non-lethal methods where we can. The Order is a good place, they even give me a chance, they know We are no monsters but those denied normal lifes by humans. The fight for our people is not glamorous but one day our children will rise and know nothing of the fear we endured for them" She said her voice having pride in it at the end.
"The Order is as much a secret as it can be and so only people who seem ready are told it is thare. You just never seemed the type" She said honetly. She felt bad having kept the order from amber but it had to be done.
Amber nodded at the instruction not to repeat her sister's words. Her first instinctual thought, having heard the term mutant supremacy, was one of rebellion against the concept. But then, why not mutant supremacy? Had not her own sister explained to her why the humans feared them? Because they could do such amazing things that no human could even dream of? Perhaps mutant supremacy wasn't so far fetched after all and, after a long moment of thought, she found she had no choice but to reluctantly nod in agreement. Maybe it was time that she accept that she wasn't human any longer, she was something beyond human. Maybe it was all part of no longer being the victim, accepting the fact that she was something better than that, something that was, perhaps, superior. That didn't mean that she shouldn't be polite to those who accepted her, but it was truth that, perhaps, it was time she come to understand and accept. Mutants were, in fact, the next stage of evolution.
"I don't want to kill people," Amber interrupted Aura's speech. She wasn't sure whether or not her sister was exaggerating her exploits, the idea of killing people was more than a little distressing. When she thought of her sister, she thought of family and support, she didn't think of the soldier that she was. But perhaps that was something that she needed to accept also, that sometimes killing was necessary. As her sister continued to speak of her past, Amber tried to process her words, fitting together what she knew of the older teen with her current story. Soldier's killed and Aura was a soldier so maybe that made the killing less wrong, more understandable. Even with that justification in her mind, however, the idea of her sister killing didn't quite seem real. She knew her sister wouldn't' lie to her, but the words didn't quite register in her mind either.
"I don't want to k-kill but I do want to help," Amber clarified. She was certain that she had never been so sure of something as she was of that one single fact. She wanted to help so that her fellow mutants wouldn't have to live in fear of the same abuses that she had encountered. Surely there must be a way to defend and empower without killing? Surely her power, unique and flexible as it was, must be possible to put to good use actually doing something positive in the world?
Amber didn't blame Aura for not telling her about The Order sooner. She hadn't been ready to know about it then, hadn't been ready to step up and actually do something. Recent events, as awful as they had been, had forced her to this point, allowed her to accept the harsh realities of life and actually force those realities back. "I wasn't the type them, but I think I'm ready now. I want to do something for mutants. I want to learn to defend myself and then I want to learn to defend others." Maybe she couldn't' bring herself to kill, but there was plenty she could do and she knew someone would know how to best employ her skills.
