The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Now now... she needs us, so we can't really get in trouble for things... he thought, slowly, since te kiss was taking up most of his attention. And I *did* tell her to meet us here in an hour... and it's only been about forty minutes...
Mike laughed as he was pulled "We are soooooooooo going to get in trouble one of these days. I love it," he said as he leaned in to kiss her. ((And many, many non-business activites occurred on, under, and around the table in the ensuing time that passes between these posts, but since a quick telekinetic shove can avert all surveilance cameras, everything just seems to Fade To Black at this point))

And when the surveilance camera's turned back on the room was far from neat and the polished table surface was smudged. Our heroes, though, through some amazing talent, ended up under the table and lay there too tired to move.
"Um...wow" Daria said, her breathing still not having returned to normal. She had dressed in haste and was tugging at he pants while she spoke. "..That was..amazing...I think I forgot my name...."
"I'm... Mark?" Mike teased, himself breathless as he pulled back on his shirt, not really noticing that it was inside out. The chairs were scattered about the table, a couple even knocked over, and the table was about a foot from where it had originally been.
Fully dressed, Mike flopped back onto the floor, smiling over at Daria. "I really hope I got all the security cameras..."

Daria realized she was missing a shoe, for the breeze from Mike's movement could be felt on her left foot. She saw her senaker a few feet away from the table and she wasn't quite sure how it could have made it that far. She teleported it to her, still too tired to move.
"Hi, Marc. I'm Shiniqua." she said looking at the shoe in her hands. "I so should've teleported that to my foot. " she sighed. "Anyways, if you missed a cam, we can sharge for the video." she grinned.
"They can use it for the company training video. 'This is not an effective use of the war room fixtures.'" he grinned, putting his arm behind her head as they lay there tiredly. "So much for twenty minutes... wonder what she's up to. Maybe she forgot," he said, somewhat hopefully.
"We went a good half hour over time, dear," Mike laughed tiredly. "Ah, well, just as well that she didn't show up... then maybe you'd have to deal with jealous headmistresses instead of just students," he added, winking.
"Nah, she doesn't that I know of, but it's fun to have an over-inflated ego sometimes," he grinned.
Daria really, really didn't have to worry about being jealous, as far as Mike's end of things was concerned. There may be girls to fight off, but he found them more amusing than anything.
