The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I won't lie... no, I can't make a whole museum full of people not notice us. If it were just us, though, I wouldn't have to. Most people wouldn't be in that room, and the people who see it are the only ones I'd have to worry about. I gave it a lot of thought last night... all I'd have to do is make them very, very unimpressed with the exhibit, or some other little trick to get them out of the room. Then, assuming you could fritz out the security system, I'd just have to make the security guard watching it not feel like reporting it."
"Unfortunately, Whitmore throws that off. So the best question is how do we keep the gem out of his hands, and how do we make it look like HE is the bad guy, and not us?"
"I have no idea. If he were coming in at night to steal it, then I could have the security system record him taking it...if he doesn't shoot the security system to hell. I think that would cause more of a ruckus and then an investigation would start. That's why I'm thinking he's either going to walk in during operating hours and ask for it or replace it, when he steals it after the museum closes. It would less of a hassle for him to just simply request for it, no questions asked. What do you think?"
"I think that we need to make a plan to go in and get it as soon as possible, with contingencies in place for whatever he might do that would screw it up. We'll likely have to improvise a lot, but we can at least cover our bases."
"Guess that means we go in during the day...We need to get as many as we can on this. I'll call Gorgon and find some other X-Men who are available to help out. Can you tell Daria to knock one off the list?"
"You've done it before on accident, you've done it now on purpose... Yeah, I'd say that repeating this probably won't be much of a problem," he said, grinning. He thought for a minute, "Might also save our asses today, if things go badly."

Daria slapped his arm playfully. "very funny."
She thought for a minute. "Seriously. Now you said something about replacing it immediatly. I'd need practice doing two teleportations at once." she warned.
"Well, the 'at the same time' part probably won't be necessary. I can keep people from watching, so you could 'port it out, then send the fake one in afterward. But this is all useless theory, though, since we're not really sure what it looks like or if we could make a fake one."

Daria was a bit relieved. "Good It took a while for me to figure it out, who knows how long it will take to develop. I wonder if there is a probablity factor involved?" she trailed off and then felt his thought in the back of her mind.
"I'm actually really excited." she said remembering how a couple weeks earlier he had broken down in his room under the pressure of having to deal with Whitmore. It had been just begining then. She could only imagine how he felt now, actually she could feel it. "I think everything will be okay, Hunny. I mean, we've been through so much and not a scratch on us!" she thought for a moment.
"Well, I mean, you got shot but how many times will that happen? twice, three time's max?" she nudged him trying to get a laugh.
Truth be told, he was even more nervous than he had been before, but it was an entirely different worry. Then, it had been an abstract threat that may or may not present itself to them, that they had to worry about but really only impacted their lives if they let it.
Now it directly affected Daria. And that scared the hell out of Mike, though he did an excellent job of hiding it.

Daria gave and exagerated sigh and rolled her eyes. "All that and I just get a smile?" she asked. Her face softened. I'll be fine, honey. So I've got a pretty green stone in my back all it means is that when it comes out it'll make nice jewelry."
I'm scared too you know, but every time one of us is in danger the other one comes through without fail. My love is unconditional Mike, and I know yours it too which is why I feel safe now.
