The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It started as an echoing sound but gradually it cleared up as Nika opened her eyes. It was Neena and she was calling Nika's name.
Nika shot up to her feet and pounced Neena and began slashing at her. She didn't ask any questions or make any comments. It was as if Nika was acting on just instinct and who could blame her after her grueling session. Maybe the session wasn't over yet.

Neena instinctively curled into a ball as Nika attacked her. She wasn't surprised, but she figured it might be best if she just took it, rather than fight back and add fuel to the fire, so to speak. The sleeves of this outfit were longer than those the Neena-bot had been wearing, but still did not provide much protection from the girl's claws.
The DocProf, on the other hand, stepped forward, and grabbed at the girl's shoulders.
Feeling something or someone grab her shoulders Nika spun around ready to strike. That's when she saw someone she wasn't expecting. Her claw stopped in mid swipe as she realized it was DocProf. Where did he come from and why was he here?
At that point Nika dropped to one knee as she wasn't at full strength. The session had drained her more than she had ever felt before.
"Why are you here DocProf?" Nika turned to Neena but she was still unsure if it was the real Neena. She had just finished fighting Neena just a few minutes ago. Didn't she? The cat girl's sense of smell finally caught up to her. This person smelled like Neena. She couldn't remember smelling anything from her before.
"What's going on? I'm really confused." The girl looked to DocProf with a 'please help' look.

"Why are you here DocProf? What's going on? I'm really confused."
"It's alright Nika, the fight is over now. Neena was simply testing your supercharged abilities. She got a bit carried away."
Neena was sure he was fixing her with a stern glare, but at the moment her focus was on the pain in her arms. Though short, the attack had been severe, and her arms were badly sliced and bleeding. There was also a set of slash marks across her cheek where she hadn't raised her arms quickly enough.
"Is it safe yet?" she asked, her voice muffled from being curled up. The DocProf shook his head and rolled his eyes slightly, then set about healing the wounds.
The moment the pain subsided into tolerable levels, Neena pulled away. The claw marks had healed enough to stop the bleeding, except for two or three of the deepest near her elbows and upper arm. The healer glared at her.
"I'm not finished." But Neena waved him away, and instead turned to Nika. Her facial expression displayed regret.
"I'm sorry I put you through this Nika. I should have warned you first. That wasn't me you were fighting. Not exactly. It was a bot made to look like me, but I was controlling it. I wanted to time your supercharge, so we have something to judge your progress against." She smiled ruefully. "You've got a lot more strength and power than I gave you credit for. I'm sorry for the rotten tricks. It won't happen again."
Nika looked at DocProf as he began to explain things now that she was calm again it was making more sense. She actually started to feel sorry for Neena as she watched DocProf heal the woman's wounds. That is until she admitted to controlling the bot and pulling all those dirty tricks.
"I was feeling sorry for scratching you up but now that I know you were controlling everything I don't feel so bad. Those water cannons hurt, and I hate being drenched unless I'm taking a bath or shower. What was with those flying discs of death anyways? You trying to kill me or something?"
Nika didn't mean to go on a rant but she did. Maybe it was some residule energy she still had left or maybe it was the fact that Nika thought she was gonna die.

"No, I'd never do anything like that. I was just...." Neena scratched the top of her head. "Eh, just trying to make you mad..... Guess it worked....."
The DocProf grunted, and crossed his arms. Neena shrugged, and rubbed her shoulder; a phantom sting still ached within the bone. She sighed, and looked back at the catgirl.
"The discs and cannons were meant to scare and anger, not to kill. I had the bot wired so I would feel some of the hits you gave, so I could get an idea of what you were capable of, and tailor your training accordingly. "
She could see Nika was upset, and rightly so. Perhaps it was a quirk on Neena's part, but that was part of the reason she didn't allow the DocProf to completely heal her; it was a reverse discipline sort of reaction. She knew the tactics she'd used were unfair, and in her mind she felt she deserved the beating she had taken. And what good was a beating if you didn't feel it?
"Other than angry, how are you feeling right now?"
Nika listened to Neena as she spoke and explained things but that wasn't making Nika feel sorrow for what she had just done.
"I should actually be unconsious right now. I was after doing a fifteen minute contest with Iris and a couple others." She looked herself over. "But I seem to be wide awake and feeling exhausted."
Looking over to Neena and tilting her head a bit Nika had another couple of questions. "So how dd I do then? How was it to feel a portion of what I can do?"

"I should actually be unconsious right now. I was after doing a fifteen minute contest with Iris and a couple others. But I seem to be wide awake and feeling exhausted."
"That's why I am here." The DocProf spoke up before Neena could. "To be sure you didn't come to any more harm than the last time. And," he fixed the thirty-year-old with an iron stare, "to be sure that Nika gets rest after this.... experiment of yours...."
"What do I look like? A mad scientist?" Neena glared at him. "I'm not going to put any of the students in any danger I wouldn't face myself!"
"You are a certified maniac, Neena Jenkins. You would stare down a train, just to see if it would stop."
Neena pouted, giving her the appearance of a three-year-old as opposed to ten times that. "Now that would just be stupid...." she muttered. It was obvious that the pair had had this discussion before.
"So how dd I do then? How was it to feel a portion of what I can do?"
A wide grin spread across Neena's face. "Let's just say that from now on, I'm sticking to being a spectator...." She got to her feet. "All right, I think we've both had enough for the day. How 'bout we take tomorrow off, and start up with the endurance training again afterward?" She smiled. "Plus, I think I owe you a favor after all of this. Any requests?"
"I can't think of anything so surprise me." Nika quickly put up her hand. "As long as it's something enjoyable and not like this surprise." She then giggled and turned back into her usual light hearted self.
"All I know is that I'm ready for some well deserved rest. If you need me for anything I'll be in my room."
