Having a raincoat came in handy today... seeing as a storm had rolled in and was currently sprinkling the late winter streets with a misting of water. She hadn't really intended to venture out today, but with the streets relatively calm, and the silence of her room pretty much killing her, the twenty two year old had decided against her better judgment to pull her snakes back into a sloppy pony tail with a big red ribbon, shrug her coat on, and make her way quietly out of her room. The air outside, which would have normally stunk of exhaust and smoke during this time of the day, rush hour, was oddly fresh and sweet because of the rain. The gorgon paused, standing alone on the corner of a street, waiting for the light to change to the little green walking man. She had been nearly run over to many time, too tempt fate on a rainy day. Sloth had slipped out from around her neck and was draped lazily about her shoulder, keeping an eye out for those who chose to venture to close to the girl.
"Calm down, Sloth... " She whispered, starting across the street when the light changed. If there was one good thing the addition of serpents had brought her, it was the distance they generally put between herself and people. Those that caught sight of the snake from a distance generally made sure to give her a wide berth, while those who lacked attention found themselves scuttling out of the way as her large albino serpent leaned out to investigate. "..Jesus-.. Keep that thing under control, lady!" A man muttered as he edged past, getting an eyeful of a pink flickering tongue and a scarred white snake face. Andrea kept to herself, ignoring the comment as she moved along. If the male hadn't been in such a hurry, yammering away on his phone while he speed-walked toward he, he would have had plenty of time to move...
A frown touched her dark, shadowed lips from beneath her hood, and she pulled herself off to the side of the sidewalk to let traffic pass her by. Perhaps it was rude of her to expect people to move... she had just become to accustomed to those not familiar with her to automatically make themselves scarce at her presence. Sloth curled around, his tongue flicking up to kiss her cheek, and she laid a gently gloved hand on his neck. Of all her snakes, the white one had grown on her the most...
"Did you hear that kid?... Ridiculous... preaching about S#@& like that... I can't believe people even give him the time of day..."
...Preaching? Her interest spiked, and she slipped back into the shadows next to the building, tucking her chin into Sloths cold scales while the two women walked toward her. "...I know, right? ... Like, I could go find a corner somewhere and stand around yelling nonsense all day, and people would believe me..." They passed, and she followed them with her eyes for a moment, before turning her chin to the way they had come. Andrea moved along the wall, keeping herself tucked away from the others on the sidewalk, and let her hand drop from sloths body.
She was interested in whoever they were talking about...
