The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lydia stalked out of the bar with Sveta in tow, but not with the same grace. She stomped with anger and disgust until they were completely outside. “Stupid, intolerant, ignorant…” She grumbled to herself (mixed in with some profanity, of course) until they turned a corner on the block and her companion spoke up.
>> "Dat was... dat was crazy.”
“It was stupid. So totally stupid. I hate people like that. I wish you really had fried that guy’s brain.” She took a deep breath and willed herself to calm down. She really should’ve been used to that sort of treatment, it happened to mutants every day. The skin-shifter shook her head at the depressing thought and glanced back at the blonde. “Well, it was nice meeting you Sveta, despite the rude interruption.” She said. She concentrated on shifting back, not feeling like attracting any more unwanted attention. It took a second, but she managed to get it started.
“I think I’m just going to go back home now. I live at the Sanctuary, if you ever want to hang out again. Don’t have a phone, sorry. See ya.” Dia gave her new friend a sad smile and hugged her briefly before turning to walk down the opposite street. She caught a glimpse of her legs as she marched and saw that the skin on down to her knees was already changed back to normal. Whoa, she thought as she stopped for a moment to examine the rest of her body, Maybe I am getting better at this…
>>“Stupid, intolerant, ignorant… It was stupid. So totally stupid. I hate people like that. I wish you really had fried that guy’s brain.”
"I can't..." actually fry brains, Sveta started to say, not alone anyway, but Lydia was still high on adrenaline, and she didn't want to talk about her powers anyway. Whatever.

Lydia was a bit of a whirlwind. Sveta opened her mouth to tell her not to hug... but it was too late, hug happened, and nothing blew up. God bless skin shifters, the harmless sort they are.
"Nice to meet you too" she smiled. Sanctuary? Where had she heard that before? Obviously it was some sort of a place for mutants. Definitely the kind she shouldn't even go near. "See you around Lydia."
So, another day, another bar, another mutant. At least, this did not end in tragedy. The girl seemed cheerful and nice, and she touched Sveta and it was safe. That, in her book, meant she was worth hanging out with. Maybe she should check out that Sanctuary place after all... Maybe not.
