Individual
Character's full name: Seyta Alic {pronounced Say-tuh } Nickname: "Sey" Gender: Female Age: 28 Date of Birth: 10/20/1982 Nationality/ Ethnicity: White/Caucasian Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Salem Massachusetts
Appearance
Hair color and style: Dirty blond but sometimes dyed bright colors. Eyes: Blue Height: 5'4" Build: Average but somewhat on the thin side though. Visible mutation: none Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Pierced ears, and a tattoo of angel wings on her back. Other features:
Everyday clothing style: Anything flamboyant, gaudy, or attention getting. Tight jeans, high priced shirts and the occasional little black dress at night make up the majority of her wardrobe, most of it bought at her work. Uniform: At work she wears jeans and either a plain long or short sleeve shirt that won’t be wrecked by getting everything organized and such. Sleepwear: She sleeps in a teal silk night dress Miscellaneous clothing: Her diamond stud earrings are a graduation present from her grandmother and aside from her violin the most important thing she owns.
Character
Personality: Seyta is very rude at times and always trying to be noticed. Unfortunately her attention seeking rudeness is forced by her ability making her very hateful to her own ability. Those who know her and can get past her mutation know Seyta as a very warm, if not a little crazy and outgoing person. She doesn't want being the center of attention. She just wants people to notice her. Unfortunately that’s usually the only attention she can get from the general population when she breaks through her powers. Hobbies/ Interests: She plays the violin and loves adapting the classical instrument for alternative/rock music. Occasionally she writes her own songs but hasn't gotten any of them recorded other than on her own computer. Job or part time job and description: She works in the stock room of Lord & Taylor giving other people limited exposure to her powers. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Seyta isn’t particularly afraid of anything but the potential growth of her own powers. She doesn’t like her ability and worries often that, since she can’t control it, it may grow until she is overwhelmed and truly disappears. She also has mild depression since her powers keep her from getting noticed in anyway as friends or in jobs, this hits her hardest with her grandmother who has Alzheimer’s and with Seyta’s powers makes any contact with her nonexistent. Special talents: Seyta has some classical training in Violin and is a decent song writer using alternative/rock style.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral although she can be a bit on the dark side at times just to counteract her powers.
Mutations
Mutation description: Seyta is unnoticed. She is a "blank spot" in the universe to everything in a ten foot field around her (10 ft. wide in each direction). Her powers only take about five seconds to effect people within range but they end just as quickly when they leave the field. Everyone in range of this field can still see, hear, feel, and sense her (if they're psychic) but, unless they specifically try to, most things she says or does will be unnoticed or be ignored. This effect goes to the point where people wouldn't realize that she was the only other person in the room with them until she spoke to them. Although she has never tested it she doesn’t seem to be able to share her powers with anyone she is physically touching, just herself and what she has with her at the time (clothes and her violin would be effected but the dog she it petting won’t be). Her ability does not affect other people’s memory of things she did. An example is if someone outside her range saw her playing her violin they might walk over and drop a dollar in her case. That person may remember walking over and dropping the dollar but under normal circumstances they would not remember much, if anything, about Seyta herself. Strengths: It doesn't really matter what people think of her personality or dress style when they don't notice Her. This potentially makes her the best hide-n-seek player in the world. Seyta can literally get lost in the crowd. Trying to find someone in a crowd of people when they are naturally unnoticeable is a lot harder that “Where’s Waldo?”.
Weaknesses: Seyta can’t turn off her ability. It gets annoying when she has to yell at the guy behind the counter for him to realize she was standing there for 20 minutes waiting to order a cheese burger at BK. Her powers don't work on electronics so anyone looking at a video or a photo will have no trouble noticing her in said image and will have an easier time noticing her in person. Also anyone with super senses will be able to notice her much easier than a normal human. Anyone who has spent a good amount of time with her, friends/relatives etc., are able to overcome her blankness once they get used to it albeit with some difficulty. She is more noticeable if people are paying attention to something and she interacts with it. (Someone is more likely to notice her pick up a newspaper if they were going to pick it up as well than if they were just looking in the same direction as the paper when she took it)
Secondary mutation description: n/a Strengths: n/a Weaknesses: n/a
Fighting Style
Explanation: Seyta is not a fighter, doesn't really need to. If something ever forces her into a fight or flight situation she runs. It's worked every time so far, but the day it doesn't she's going to be in trouble. Pros for fighting style: She doesn’t need to worry about getting in trouble, simply turning a corner and hiding is enough to let her powers take care of the rest. Cons for fighting style: If her attacker is out of range from her powers Seyta has no way of avoiding getting shot or followed.
Faction Allegiance Unaffiliated
History Of Your Character Seyta grew up in Salem MA. For the most part life in the Salem area was permeated by the general weirdness that came with the town’s history of the colonial witch trials, and mutants who didn’t fit well with the social norm elsewhere tended to have an easier time in Salem because of that. Growing up through all of that her parents taught her to be courteous to everyone and did their best to keep the American standard of a normal family. Seyta lived up to her parents expectations for the most part and managed to keep her grades in the B range all through school. She fell in love with the violin at a concert in fifth grade and became almost obsessed with it. Her grandmother was excited by her love for music and supported her in almost all her decisions with it, constantly telling her how great she was as long as she kept trying. Pushed on my her grandmothers encouragement she started writing songs in high school and would send them along with her college applications during junior and senior year. One of these got Seyta a full tuition scholarship for musical studies. Seyta took the acceptance as a sign, as proof that her dreams would be coming true. For most of her life she had dreamed of being a mutant, getting some cool ability, and being a famous musician because of it; she got the opposite. The day her powers activated she was heading out for college. Getting settled was fine but it was odd that her roommate never said a word to her or even looked at her. As the days rolled by it was getting frustrating to constantly poke, hit, and yell at people to tell them something. By midterms she had dropped out. Even her family noticed the change and would sometimes have trouble holding a conversation when they weren’t looking directly at her. They understood the frustration with her ability but since she was the only mutant in the family they never could relate well. As life went on Seyta tried to live normally despite the stress from her powers but issues would always come up. She reached her breaking point when her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As she realized the affect her powers had combined with her grandmother’s condition Seyta packed up what she could and left home for New York. If she was doomed to be ignored by the world, she would go to the most populated place she could afford and be a face in the crowd like everyone else. Moving to New York was surprisingly easy given her situation. Although having her father there the whole time was probably why, people would know he was there at least. She eventually managed to land a moderate apartment and a job in the stock room of Lord & Taylor with his help. Not the best situation ever but her ability didn’t interfere with it and the pay was more than decent. Several times she went into record companied to play demos for them, she would wait for hours and constantly remind the clerk why she was there until she finally got fed up and left each time. Aside from the somewhat frequent arguments with her landlord and boss over whether or not she was actually living in the apartment or showing up to work and her constantly failing musical career, life was generally tolerable for Seyta.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: no Sample RP: Seyta pulled the bow across the strings slowly tuning the violin before looking around the subway station. No one even looked up at the sound. Typical she thought. Shrugging off the lack of response she finished tuning and started up playing the songs she wrote last week. After a few hours she checked the case before packing up her violin. Four dollars and twenty-five cents, those people would probably wonder what they did with that money later. Packing up she headed back to her apartment. She didn’t care about the money, as long as people heard her it was fine. Reaching her apartment building she hurried down the hall just to see a group of teens blocking her path. She waited until she was about 5 feet away before saying anything. “Coming through people.” She gave a half shout. One of them looked up but didn’t turn her direction, the rest ignored her. Rolling her eyes she shoved through them forcefully. “I said coming though you idiots!” “Whoa easy lady.” Three of them where watching her now, the first two had already gone back to their conversation. She didn’t care, they would forget about it while she took three steps never mind when she went back out. Setting her violin down inside the door she looked around, there wasn’t much to do today until later and she wasn’t really in the mood to go out that night. Might be a good idea anyway… Might even meet someone who can tell I’m there. She laughed at the thought; the bouncer wouldn’t even stop her on the way in. Why would anyone inside care either? With nothing else planned though Seyta gave into her boredom and got all dressed up for a night at a club. At about 8:30 she left heading for downtown, heading to her favorite hotspot she waited off to the side of the line. She would never get in normally; it was just a matter of time though before her ticket in came. After a few minutes a black car pulled up and a couple got out waving their driver away. Seyta quickly walked over and stepped in behind them as they were let in, as always the bouncer didn’t even blink as she followed them like she owned the place. Once inside she took a table, listening to the music and watching the other people. A few people just far enough to avoid her powers smiles and started towards her but they all stopped a few moments later as they got close. “SEEEYYY!!!” She turned to see who had called her with a rather surprised look on her face. Jenna, one of the cashiers from work, Seyta smiled watching Jenna shiver as she fought Seyta’s ability. Sitting across from her Jenna chuckled “Only you would wear a dress that small and sit alone…” Seyta rolled her eyes. “So? It’s not like it makes a difference.” They both laughed and talked for a while making Seyta wonder why she didn’t just call Jenna in the first place to go out.
