The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character
Personality: You can never be quite sure what to expect from Ash where she is still lingering between an adolescent and adult. Ash is polite and likable. Although she doesn't talk much, she tends to be rather blunt when she does. Mumbled sketchy sarcasm and witty remarks can be expected from her along with smirks and shrugs. She has a nasty temper. She holds grudges and is far too good a listener. She may be quick to forgive but she never forgets. She is also rather manipulative, too often withholding information, and has a smart tongue; once you get her started its hard to get her to stop. Once in a while, she rants like there's no tomorrow. She is a teenager after-all. Ash finds it hard to get close to people, though she values friendship. She takes her time getting to know someone before opening up. She's rather paranoid and fears being manipulated or rejected. She likes to ask questions, be careful how you answer because Ash is known to over-analyze. Looking past all these less than comforting details, deep down Ash is a sweet girl and hates seeing anyone alone or in pain. If she trusts you, she's nice to you. It’s as simple as that. She is unexpectedly compassionate and sympathetic. Maybe she just needs a little help opening up?
Hobbies/ Interests: Her iPod is one of her few but treasured possessions. Among her other possessions are a journal, sketchbook, pencils, charcoal, cell phone, sharpies, two throwing knives, and a couple cans of spray paint. Ash likes to draw and sing and she's usually humming. She has a worrisome fascination with spray paint.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Ash is secretly afraid of thunderstorms, but she's usually no baby about it. They make her feel alone and helpless. She hides it as best she can, drowning out the thunder with music.
Special talents: Her police officer father embedded a huge interest in knives and guns into Ash. Since Ash was an only child, her father didn't have any sons to share his masculine interests with. At sixteen Ash can shoot and throw with the trained accuracy of any man twice her age.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. Ash is currently just a confused, lonely teenager.
Mutation
Mutation description: Information absorption from fingerprints --- When Ash touches a fingerprint on an object, she can hear what the owner of the print was thinking and see what the person was seeing when placing the print.
Although, when she touches another human/mutants finger-TIPS directly, she can see into his or her mind until the connection is disrupted, but she has not fine tuned her ability to the point where she can block out the useless information or really search for anything of value. Through direct contact Ash can intrude on the outermost layers of a person's mind, for example, she can usually tell if someone is lying, if they're worried or anticipating something, maybe even read into what the person is planning to do, but she cannot go as far as sifting through a person's memories yet.
When touching her fingers to a print left on an object, Ash hears the voice immediately with the flash of image along with it.
When touching her fingertips to someone else’s, the thoughts, emotions, and images crash over her like a wave. She can only hear and see what happens to pass through the person's mind at the time of their connection.
Strengths: Although she so far has little control over the information she receives through direct fingertip connections, Ash's great memory and problem solving skills help her to piece together the random choppy bits of information found in fingerprints to form a complete thought and find meaning in it. Her ability makes her a great ally to have. Weaknesses: The thoughts from the fingerprints are often fractions of complete thoughts, not always useful... Ash cannot read the same fingerprint too many times, the more she touches it, the more it smudges, and the thought is less clear, more like static in her brain. Also, she doesn't always necessarily see what’s really there, but what the person sees or wants to see. She cannot block out the thoughts without wearing gloves. Ash's ability leaves her feeling increasingly wary of other people and their true intentions.
Fighting Style
Explanation: Although Ash has a kind heart, she fights less lady-like. Having no formal combat training she is an unpredictable fighter. A set of throwing knives or a good Bowie would do her well, since she's too young to carry a gun.
Pros for fighting style: A Bowie, throwing knife, dagger, or even an ax make Ash a dangerous force to mess with... Until she's 21 and can legally carry. Or 18 even, Ash would surely appreciate a double barrel.
Cons for fighting style: Ash probably wouldn't have great odds up against a surprise attack or any attack when unarmed considering her lack of training and size.
Faction Allegiance Unaffiliated
History Of Your Character Until around the age of sixteen, Ash lived a happy comfortable life with her secretary mother and police officer father. Her parents both worked normal jobs and she went to school like every other child her age. Ash was pretty normal, with a happy family but few close friends. She and her mother had weekly movie nights and shopped like there was no tomorrow, but no matter how hard she tried, her mother could never get Ash to wear much color. Ash had a secret that took her years to understand. Without her father she was sure she never would. She thought she was crazy, hearing voices. She did her best to explain to her father, the one person she could trust. They did some experiments, every little thing they had ever seen in the movies. Nothing worked. Until one birthday when her Dad gave her a locket with her name across the front and each of her parent’s pictures inside, she picked it up between her fingers and heard the usual static and foreign voices along with her father's familiar voice singing, "Dream a little dream of me." She looked up at her father and shook her head, telling him he was so random sometimes, before singing along herself. He looked back down at her, confused, because he hadn't said anything. As Ash continued to explain, she and her father began to understand. Too suddenly everything changed drastically; her father died in a drunk driving accident during the summer of her sixteenth year. To make it worse, her father, who to her knowledge had never drank since his wedding, had been the drunk driver in the accident. He died, along with both the driver and passenger of the other car involved. Ash's mother told her that her father was stressed, went out drinking with his friends. He made a bad decision and paid for it. Ash didn't question her mother, though it never seemed right, but why would her mother lie? As Ash got older, she wasn't the naive little girl she used to be. She eventually learned the true story. Her mother had been having an affair. Needless to say, this was much more complicated then a few drinks after a rough day. Her mother could never seem to hold a steady relationship after this and everything was going downhill. With half as much money coming in, Ash and her mother were forced to move to an apartment in New York City. Ash was behind in school, and the sudden changes were weighing down on her. She felt more lost than even before, and with so many people and so much "noise", compared to her small hometown in Massachusetts, it seemed nearly impossible to find her way around. Ash was quickly getting more and more discouraged. Her mother started drinking (among other things, she assumed) and her taste in men grew worse and worse. She wasn't the same mother who she remembered tucking her in at night and holding her close during thunderstorms. One particular afternoon, Ash came home and heard the normal angry shouting behind the door. She took a deep breath and when she opened the door she was hit in the face with a glass serving dish. She froze for a few long silent seconds before closing the door on her mother with her slurred apologies, and never turned back. She realized her mother could hardly take care of herself, let alone a teenage daughter.
Role-play
Where did you learn about this site?: Isabel Duskmoor. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Nope. Sample RP: Ash ran down the black alley, conscious of every stomp of her boots and every splash of every puddle. "Gotta run faster, can't stop, keep breathing", she coaxed herself, listening as hard as she could for footsteps behind her. She could feel wind on her face, the bright light at the end of the dark damp alley seemed miles away. She stumbled over a trash-can lid, and bumped her shoulder hard against the cool brick wall before regaining her balance. "Dammit", she breathed, so was being too loud! Suddenly she heard a crash from somewhere close behind, way too close behind. She quickened into a sprint, scraping her knee against the dumpster she just missed running into. She could feel the cool blood dripping down her leg, into her boots, but she didn't slow, ignored the pain entirely. "Worry about it later," running and breathing, running and breathing... that’s all that mattered right now. The wind on her face was stronger, she ran as hard as she could, legs burning, hair flying into her eyes. She could see the head lights of cars up ahead, "Cant stop now, almost there, a quick left and I'm safe!" A smile crept across her face, her eyes watering from the wind. "I'm almost there, I'm almost th-" Suddenly she hit something in front of her and fell backward, hitting her head against the ground, hard. She felt herself drifting out of consciousness...
