The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Fausto nodded slowly as she repeated the name of that distant country. Nothing of it appeared in the news ...? He was not sure, but assumed that at least a small part of info crossed the ocean. She must have known of the terrorist attack that happened in the parliament to stop an anti mutant law. They worked for the same person, it could not hurt to share some information. "Romania was our last mission ... our boss saved a lot of lives in the parliament." That probably was not in the news, but thanks to his boss countless lives were saved. Even his own life, he like it or not Fausto owed his life to Slate.
"I do not understand how a person like he may consider you dangerous when with your help he could cure almost anything ..." Perhaps the singer did not know his boss as he believed. Fausto listen very carefully, having to interrupt his explanation of what he thought would do Slate with her (proving its healing powers) to hear her explanation. They put her in some sort of quarantine ...? Then there was a lot more from his boss he did not know about.
Fausto had been part of the alternate reality created by Katrina and itĀ“s amplified power out of control ... so he knew very well the potential disaster caused by the tornado. Without any amplifier of any kind his "beloved" leader had saved him from death on one occasion at least, and healed many wounds that had taken months to heal, in just a few minutes. He could not imagine how SlateĀ“s powers could be while amplified ... Could him resurrect someone ...? And the next idea that came to his mind was easty to see. A horde of zombies walking the streets of any city, devouring anyone who crossed his path, and his boss sitting on a comfortable chair led by as many zombies under his control ...
"I thought that Slate's policy was to find a use for everyone ... then you just give up and stay away from your sister?" He could not imagine what would happen if his powers came to be amplified ... For many people Sveta was a small nuclear reactor that could explode at any moment and take with her the entire city.

"I think I am not useful because my abilities are dangerous" Sveta mused "But Bo is human, or I think she is. I just..." she shrugged "I have no idea what Slate thinks."
She glanced at Fausto. "What do you work for him anyway?"

The boy nodded slowly again, tired, like he had to explain to a child over and over again the same thing without much progress. But in the end seemed that Sveta was understanding. Both worked for the same person, they both must knew that teenager was trying to cure the world of its many problems. "Why do you need Slate? Does he have kidnapped her or something? " He asked without much enthusiasm but a strong desire to give up ... she did not seem to think of any other possibility to bring her at all, it was all about her " boss " and the "hatred" that must feel for her. Otherwise Fausto find no sense in the reason for their separation.
Then he continue with the same calm tone responding to a question that seemed too obvious to be relevant. Does she worked for Slate and did not know about his work ...? "It's a good person. The previous mission was in Colombia, a school was built fully equipped, and we rescued many children from the guerrillas to give them the opportunity to study there for a different future. Our boss wants to help and know how to do it. " He did not mention that he also had the resources needed to do it, with good will would not have come that far. And that some missions were a bit outside the law ... but that he understood better than anyone, it was necessary to take two steps back to appreciate the situation.
>>"Why do you need Slate? Does he have kidnapped her or something? "
"No." Sveta shook her head "No, I mean... um. He helps me. Kind of. I think. But Bo would need papers, and you said not legal, and the only person I think can do not legal, is him. Probably."
Fausto did not elaborate on working for Slate. Strange. What was up with that guy, and all the secrecy?

Oh boy. Fausto really believed in Slate. How old was that kid anyway? Fifteen?... Building schools for children in Colombia? Seriously? It just did not sound real to her. Shakind her head, she sighed.
"I was thinking, Bo is better off with the... umm, the lady who send me here." she blushed a bit, remembering the Matchmaker and how she messed up this particlar match "I am nt de safest person to be around."

Fausto pondered about her words for a moment. Close to the wrong mutant she could cause great damage to virtually all the city or most of it ... but there was no impediment to say she was safe enough to be near. Otherwise, the singer thought, she had been sent to some remote spot on the planet. Maybe a lonely island, unable to affect the powers of others. "And yet, in this state of weakness I'm around you. You should reconsider your concept of dangerous. " The singer gave her a sincere smile, she was not dangerous, no mutant was dangerous once understanding took the place of fear ... just at first. Who got it right the first try?

The sleigh was moving pleasantly by the delicate landscapes of Central Park that now returned to had the same importance as before. Sveta apparently was not one of the most active employees, sadly, she looked more like a hostage than to an employee. Fausto would have loved to know that her job was to enhance SlateĀ“s power. That way he could have cured anything. Is there any disease that could resist to that? He was sure that together they could have saved many people... Fausto was a little jealous of Slate, his mutation only could be used to destroy. He would achieve nothing than more destruction. But his boss had the ability to heal the world, fix it. That's why he admired him so much.
"I guess our walks help the both of us, is good to have a friend to talk." The next thought that came to his mind was keep for himself: He really felt good being with her. Although the first week had been very difficult, her constant invitations had taken him from his room. A few snowflakes began to fall silently upon them. Fausto smiled looking at them, like a child seeing snow for the first time. "Can we stay here a bit longer?" He caught one with a warm hand, and it disappeared quickly. It was good to know that their food was not the only thing that had such a short life.
>>"I guess our walks help the both of us, is good to have a friend to talk. Can we stay here a bit longer?"
"Sure" Sveta smiled, sittin back and enjoying the ride. She did not need to tell the driver they wanted to stay; he just kep going throught the snow-covered streets and around the park. Sveta smiled and quietly enjoyed the day; snowflakes were falling around them like something out of a Christmas movie, and Fausto looked happy. She was happy too, that she had managed to drag him out of the Mansion for a little while.
They were not a couple anymore (well, actually, they never had been), but they enjoyed each other's company; he was sick, and she was untouchable, and they had a good time together. Life was really strange sometimes. But, at least, this was the nicer kind of stange.
