The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

With furrowed brow, Sebastian stared at the little pocket calendar.
September 26th. Something was amiss here.
He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. His tiny scrawling notes indicated that here were three chapters and a lab report due for Human Biology this morning. He also had an Anatomy and Embryology lab that would take at least four hours.
He knew he was forgetting something, though.
The unicorn man wrinkled his brow further. A ripple fanned out across the surface of an ocean of memories. A tiny bubble of a thought floated up from somewhere in the depths and popped upon reaching the surface.
“Ahh, that's right.”
With a pen, Sebastian scrawled, “Study group 6 pm, for Fri Genetics Exam.” He wouldn't want to have forgotten that.
He closed the little pocket sized book and put it back in it's current home between chapters 11 and 12 of Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body then put both into a messenger bag and slung the whole thing over his shoulder before heading out the door.

So. Much. Genetics.
For a science that was so young, there certainly was a lot of it.
At the door to the apartment, the unicorn man paused to set down his book bag and remove his shoes. His nose flared, having caught a whiff of something fresh and green.
Clover?
A white ribbon embraced the tender stalks and leaves, propping them up in their little vase so they could stand tall. A pale envelope with his name beckoned to him with Ghost's handwriting.
A card?
Sebastian finished removing his shoes and coat, leaving the former on the rug by the door and draping the later on the back of the kitchen chair. Curiously, he poked his head around the corner into the bedroom to see if his wife was still waiting up to watch him open his card or anything. White hair on a white pillowcase indicated that she was not awake. There was no blaming her, it was very late.
Using the letter opener from the drawer in his desk, the immortal neatly sliced open the paper container.
'One year ago,' the card began.
Sebastian's stomach fell. His eyes darted to the calendar taped to the refrigerator. Today was September 26th. Someone had drawn a heart around the number.
There was a handwritten message on the inside of the card, but Sebastian's eyes barely saw them.
He couldn't believe it.
He had just missed their one year wedding anniversary.

Sitting quietly on the edge of the bed, Sebastian gently brushed a stray hair off of a sleeping Ghost's forehead. Her hair was getting longer. Or maybe it had been longer for awhile. Why hadn't he noticed it growing out?
Probably for the same reason he hadn't noticed any of what was happening lately. Time had been passing him by and he hadn't even realized it.
A whole year. They had been married a whole year already, and it still felt like it had just happened.
