The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Saphirus had been very busy. He spent half of his time doing his job, and the other half either moonlighting as a crime fighter, sleeping, eating, or working on the plans he now held tightly in his hand. He looked down at the notebook full of sketches, measurements, and hastily scrawled notes. He recalled working so hard to come up with perfect ideas, and the realizing that he didn't know a single person who knew how to make the plans work... Or did he?
You see, he was looking to make a set of armor that only covered his vulnerable left side. It would be made of steel. The problem being steel was difficult to mold perfectly without some rather expensive and time consuming processes... So yeah, he could go out and spend all of his cash, and still not have enough to get exactly what he wanted... or, he could cheat. He reached up slowly and knocked on the door in front of him.
Cafas's door. He remembered the kid's abilities from fighting that giant monster in the park... jees, was that almost a year ago now? Time really flew, didn't it? Anyways, from what he knew, he was a pretty good kid. He would give a fellow do-gooder a hand, right? Plus, there would be some money in it for him. Maybe a little bonus if he didn't tell any of the other team members...
To be honest, this particular project wasn't exactly X-related.
Why was someone knocking at his door? Cafas never locked it, why on earth did they bother? It just meant he had to get out of bed. Well, at least they had manners, he supposed. Still forcing him out of bed was as close as you could come to crimes against humanity without starting a war. Cafas hopped up, noticed the brisk air, cursed whoever was at the door silently and proceeded to make himself presentable. Boxers on, he walked to the door and opened it. He was met with the face of someone he had not seen in a couple of months, if he recalled correctly. "Oh, G'day Saph, how are ya?" His carefully avoided Australianness seeping out in his post wakeup haze. Normally he wasn't quite so aussie in his language, it helped with being understood.
Wazzat in his hand? Did we get an assignment?
In way of asking without being too explicitly curious about the book C.J. put forward a question of immense linguistic and vocabularic skill. "Sup?" After his brief display of intelligence Cafas reverted to being his usual self, indicating to his room he again spoke, this time an offer. "Wanna come in? Or 'sit too brief to bother?" He assumed the bloke needed something; it wasn't like people to simply randomly visit Cafas.
Saph blinked a few times as he waited at the door for what seemed like a little too long... Was he out? Damn. He didn't know who else he would ask, and he hadn't seen Cafas in so long... He didn't even know if the kid was still around. Not for sure, anyway.
He was about to turn to leave when the door opened, and a not very dressed Cafas opened the door. Saph paused for a moment, and then snorted a little when he gave the incredibly australian greeting. He'd forgotten where Caf was from; but when ever he wasn't trying not to it was like the accent crept out just to reaffirm that he was from the land down under. Saph grinned a little as he responded. "I'm doin good, pal. I-eh... was actually wondering if you wouldn't mind doing a little something for me. I'd pay you, course, but I'm kinda on a timeline, too... I don't got a lot of time, see?"
"Anyways, I was wondering if you could use your ability to help me with some plan's i've been working on." He held out the plans toward the sleepy Aussie, watching with an air of expectation. He wasn't sure if it was do-able, or any good, even. "They're plans for armor, for my weak half... It'll make my job a little easier if I can be a little more protected, y-know?"
"Anyways, I can drop off all of the supplies later... and we can do the mask after everything else is done... It's good money, too... what do you think?" He stood there for a moment, hoping that the Aussie with just say yes... it would be a whole lot cheeper and faster than having someone else do it.
Cafas took the plans, and started flicking through them. He looked for a good ten minutes. Everything was here, measurements, scales, drawings from every conceivably necessary angle. He wasn't much for armour, not having made any in a very long time, and even then, it was mostly showy rather than practical. But it wasn't much different to making blades and shields. Now he looked at it, there appeared to be blades, at least, some form of thrown weapon, it didn't look hold able. Work was work he supposed. It didn't look too bad anyway, he'd have been worried about the weight, but he didn't know the full extent of Saph's mutation. Lots of finicky plate work, which meant lots of shaping pins and joints. Leather straps were hard but he supposed not everyone wanted a 200 link plate mail strap holding their armour on.
Do-able, sure, easy, less so... better than doing it the real way I guess... unless.
"You want this done the legit way, or the mutant way? Mutant day, give me three or four days from getting the materials, the old fashioned way, more like three to four months and I'd need to source a forge." It was most certainly a yes though, hell, what else was he going to do, and it was nearly the holiday season after all. "So anyway, what you offering in return? Not to be too blunt or anything, just like to know." He paused for a moment and pointed to the blade things. "You gone over these with Sam? Or is a don't ask don't tell situation? I'm guessing you want them sharp?"
Saph nodded a bit as Cafas went through the two options. The path he wanted to take was obvious; with his powers, Cafas could get the job done in a fraction of the time with a fraction of the effort. "Eh... The mutant way. please. The sooner I'm armored the sooner I can get into more dangerous stuff, yeh?" He grinned a little as the subject of payment came up.
"Hows a cool grand sound? I'll cover the resources as well." Saph knew that going elsewhere would cost much more. He got paid to work security around the mansion, and really didn't spend money on anything other than food... And medical bills. He hoped Cafas would be alright with the payment. He really couldn't afford much more if he wanted to get a car. All of the other X-men had cars, why shouldn't he, right?
Sure, his would be the only one that was bought used, but that was a minor detail.
Cafas was honestly surprised by the figure, especially for something that all in all ought only take him a couple of days at most, and that was living with normal life as well. The leather buckles would be a bit tricky, plate meant pins, but if he was honest he was just glad he didn't need to make huge amounts of chains. Chain mail had to be the most finicky thing to make in the world. "One thousand bucks will be more than enough, as for materials," Cafas quickly wrote down what he'd need, "This is what I'll need, see where I wrote leather again, that's for leather backing, it doesn't need to be of the same grade as the straps, cos it won't be taking any weight, so save money if you can." He gave the list to Saph.
What could I do with a grand?
Cafas decided he'd think about it later. He had to figure out what he needed to make for the time being. He'd need to go over the plans many more times, memorise every detail, though once he'd done that he could essentially make everything and put it together like Lego. "Expect yeah about three days to a week for this stuff, from the time I get materials." It wouldn't be a difficult task really. Plus it was only half armour, not full. That brought it's own issues but they weren't too severe.
Damn, he could have gotten away with paying less. The moment of surprize on Cafas's face gave it away. Oh well, what was said was said, and it was still cheeper than he would have gotten it done anywhere else by far. He took the list from Cafas when it was presented, and looked it over... He could manage. He would be a bit tightly strapped for cash after all of this, but that whole deal with the trip to europe would be enough to fill his wallet again anyways.
He pocketed the scrap of paper, and nodded. "I'll get these to you as soon as I can." He looked to the left and the right a few times, and then leaned in just a little, whispering. "I know you prolly already figure this, but try not to let Sam know about the blades just yet... I don't know how he'll take it, but I think I will be needing them... At least for now." He gave a little nod, and then stepped back. "Thank for the help, man. I'll see you when I have what we need."
The older mutant then turned, and walked down the hallway with purpose.
