So I've been pretty sick lately and nice and bed ridden but when I was flipping through the channels, I noticed a whole lot of News channels, which got me thinking about a different plot for MRO. Here is what I'm thinking: Elections are coming up for the new Mayor/Senator/Representative/President and there are three primary candidates. - One of the candidates is average, a man with a humble past who rose to power and wealth through long lines of weathy family members and talked his way into one of the spots for that legislative/executive position. He's a good man and he has strong propositions but does not exactly address the mutant situation firmly. It makes voters very unsure about how he would run the state/country.
- The second is a mutant. His power consists of memory. He can extract information from others without them speaking it to him, however, he only extracts information not emotions or opinions reflecting on these. It keeps his head on straight and gives him the facts he needs to know to get the job done. Many investigators have been trying to figure out the limitations of his powers and many feel threatened that he is lying about the inability to read people's minds. To the mutant population, he's a strong candidate who only wishes others to view mutants as another branch of humanity and wishes them to move forward with humans and help each other as Americans instead of different species.
- The third candidate has radical ideas about how to deal with mutants, and none of them are beneficial to the mutant population. He agreed with the Mutant Registration Act and believes that every mutant should be watched to ensure they are not using their powers for the wrong reasons. He believes that humans were here first and should fight for dominance over the mutant population. He believes that mutants are dangerous and has done countless research studies to find instances where mutants area danger to society. He believes they should be sectioned off, not in camps like before, but in their own area, away from humans to be with each other and not affect the progress humanity has been making for the past century.
What would this entail? This would include protection details for Candidate B, the mutant candidate. I can see factions working together to protect this mutant and try to get him elected or at least viewed as a good choice for an election if not now, in the future. Candidate B will need publicity and all other help from those trying to get him elected and definitely needs protection from the anti-mutant societies. Candidate C will also need protection, but in a different manner. Radical mutants who find violence is the answer will be after Candidate C either with force or manipulation. If radical mutant groups succeed in ending Candidate C's life or making him incapable of continuing in his campaign, all eyes will be on the mutant population and they will once again be targetted for taking those approaches to stop him from being elected. Candidate A is not so much of a worry as he is really the neutral party. Mutant or human violence groups would only be after him to be elected if something happened to their first choice (if the mutant were harmed, mutants would want A to be elected instead of C and vice versa). This would open a chance for mutants to make themselves known to try to support B or they would hide behind their voting ballots and simply pick B. It is a different plot in that it tries to bring the factions together in the public view (without mentioning each is part of a faction), but it would be political with some fighting involved, dangers, diplomacy, speeches and mobs. How does that sound? I don't think there has been a plot like this, correct me if I am wrong.

The reverse might be fun for the Order. Someone runs for office on a platform that Lori does not agree with, pledging to 'clean up the city'. We reenact scenes from The Godfather.
