The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They were apparently convincing enough since the kid started to stutter an explanation when Saphirus had stopped shaking him. Chris listened with widening eyes and a jaw on the verge of dropping - the pills did what now? "Watch him. Don't let him run away." Chris nodded, but his thoughts were elsewhere. How could a drug give humans powers? Mutations had with genetics to do; he wasn't exactly sure about the specifics, but he was pretty sure you couldn't alter your genetic structure with just a pill. Or...? The kid he'd been assigned to watch must have noticed that Chris wasn't entirely focused on the job, so he made an attempt to get away. Chris managed to catch the fleeing guys wrist, but since the mucus that covered his skin was slightly slippery the other guy slipped right out of his grip. "Hey, wait!" Chris made a half-hearted attempt to catch up with the escapee, but it was no use. He was a slow runner, and the threat to crack the kids skull open had probably hit home since he was running for dear life. Chris gave up after just a few meters and returned to Saph, looking a bit sheepish.
Saph had just found the little white pill. Chris still couldn't believe that a human could get powers from a pill, especially such a small and bland-looking one. It was just too absurd. He decided to voice his doubts out alone when Saph pocketed the pill. "It's impossible. It has to be. He probably had some dormant mutant genes that manifested after he tried that stuff. I mean, you can't change your genetic structure with just a pill." He put maybe a little more weight on that last sentence than he had intended to.
Then he looked at the knocked-out psychic with a concerned frown. Mikey, as his friend had called him, was breathing but there was no way of telling how much damage the bat had done. "We should... we should really get these guys to the hospital." He had no idea what happened to thugs and bad guys after the fights, but it seemed heartless to just leave them lying around. Especially since there could come a car around the corner any minute.
Saph wasn't surprized that the kid got away; Chris stil had a lot of learning to do... also a lot of growing. Like... A lot... Kid fought like a girl, or well, a fish. He knew that fish weren't food in fist fights from first hand experience... poor Magikarp... He reached up a hand to rub his forehead, as if that would help clear the cobwebs a little more. It didn't, but it made him feel like he was doing something, which was, well, something. He looked back to Chris as he returned, and nodded. "Don't worry. I'm sure he's learned his lesson, anyhow."
Saph turned to his sidekick as he spoke, and listened to his words thoughtfully, still feeling a little slow from the psychic assault he'd had to go through."It's impossible. It has to be. He probably had some dormant mutant genes that manifested after he tried that stuff. I mean, you can't change your genetic structure with just a pill."
"Kid... If there's one thing you learn in this line of work, it's that nothing is impossible. In fact, if it seems impossible, it's prolly more likely." Saph turned to walk off, but Chris brought up the subject of taking the criminals to the hospital. He laughed a little, realized he was being rude, apologized quickly, and then gathered his thoughts once more... Man, he really had a find a way to counter psychic attacks; he was still feeling it... "Nah, we don't call the docs... we call the cops; let them take em to the hospital if they are too hurt. Otherwise these little punks are goin to jail." Saph gave the mind screamer a little kick as if to emphasize his point. "Which reminds me... We gotta go find a payphone." He turned and walked toward the closest payphone, which was all the way across the plaza. "eh... you got some quarters?"
"Kid... If there's one thing you learn in this line of work, it's that nothing is impossible. In fact, if it seems impossible, it's prolly more likely." Chris wasn't sure he agreed with that - he had been raised to have a practical and logical mindset, and he didn't like when seemingly impossible things happened. But say it wasn't impossible to change one's genetic structure with a pill. This kid could hardly be the only one. This could be a problem - for most mutants it took time to learn to control their powers, years even. And what would happen if regular humans suddenly developed switch-on, switch-off powers thanks to a genetically modifying drug? Chaos, he answered himself.
But, more importantly, what would this mean to mutants? If the medical advances allowed one to edit one's genetic setup then maybe... just maybe...
When Saph asked if he had any quarters he just shook his head. "Does it look as if this thing has some kind of pockets?" All the fighting and the discovery of the drug had almost made him forgot that he was wearing spandex. Almost, but not quite. But then he knelt down next to the still unconscious psychic and, very carefully in case he should wake up, started to search through his pockets. He found a thin wallet and tossed it to Saphirus, telling himself that it wasn't actually theft since they'd use the money to call for an ambulance for him and his pals.
