The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The 11 year old Kitty Fererra huddled against the wall of the Danger Room as all the other children moved about. Her parents had died only a few days ago. Child Services did not want to have to take care of a mutant, so she was sent directly to Xavier's Mansion. Before she could even introduce herself, she was rushed into this strange room with alot of very strange people in it. She was frightened and alone. ~Why did that sick man have to come to OUR house?!~ she thought. She just wanted to get away, there were too many voices here, too many minds. Hairpin had never been good with crowds, the more people there are near her, the harder it was to keep their thaughts out of her head. Tears streamed down her face as she burried her head between her knees. It grew too much for her, she stood up, she had to tell someone that she couldn't stay in a room with this many people. *Hairpin takes a few steps forward.* She looked at the closest adult, who's back was to her. "I can't stay in a room with this many minds." she said. "Can I go... go..." Hairpin collapsed on the floor, unconscious.

A nervous look crossed Daria's face. She could feel her stomach tighten and her head swoon as a great fear came over her. Just the thought of teleporting...

Daria's lips quivered until they formed a slight smile and she leaned into Mike.
"I guess..I'm a little shaken is all. Tried to take on too much by chasing after that helicopter. I was so weak....I've never been in the situation before where teleporting was so dangerous. I..." she shook her head to stop the tears.
Mike held her against him, kissing her head softly. "It's all right, baby. You're fine. If you need to let it out, let it out, that's what you have me for."
Well, one of the things at least...
As a slight precaution, he touched the minds of those around them, making them have absolutely no interest in listening in on them as they talked.

Daria laughed at his joke between sobs.
"You know, I don't think I've ever liked my powers. They've always seemed so lame to me" she sniffled. "I told you before I'd rather have a power like your telekinesis or shoot lasers or something. I was just getting used to them, kinda. Then that happened. I.." she breathed deeply. Her whole frenzy situation wasn't something she found easy to share mentally or verbally. "I lose control sometimes, and that can happen with anyone. But I mean, when I do it...I'm less human that I am with the ears and tail and that's...frightening beyond words." she bit her bottom lip.
Mike smiled slightly. "That's what makes you human, baby... you cared enough that what happened hurt you... and it hurt you enough that it drove you to do something you can't stand." He nudged her chin up so he could kiss her. "It's part of who you are, and I'm not saying that it's easy to deal with, any more than it's easy for me to deal with the thought that when I get mad, I can kill someone with a thought without knowing that I did it."

Yeah but you're not growling and drinking blood like some kind of feral animal she began before realizing her could still hear her.
"That's the part that scares me, not even scare...just disgusts." she nodded. "I make me sick" she said the last sentence as a self realization-more to herslef than Mike.
"No, I'm a cold-hearted narcicist with a god complex, who goes around judging people when he's pissed off and 'punishing' them in rather cruel ways. I make me sick."

Daria thought for a moment. "I'm not trying to make it sound like I' m the only one with problems, like I wanna throw a pity party, or like I'm competing.." She sniffled again. "I...just wanted so mcuh to be normal."
Michael traced a finger over he ear, looking into her eyes as a slight smile crossed his face. "If you were 'normal,' I wouldn't have ever met you. In fact, you'd have died before I would have ever had the chance. So if this is 'not normal,' then frankly I couldn't be happier that you're 'not normal.'"
