The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amber saw Henri glance a second time at her cell phone. Her fist seemed a little bit too tight around it and she could see tension in the other girl's face. Something must have happened, that much was clear, but was it right to ask about it? On the one hand the two of them were now officially roommates and thus should get to know each other and support each other but on the other hand they had just met. Still, the other teen was obviously in distress and she hated to see that.
"If you n-need to talk I'm a g-good listener," Amber offered. It was an invitation but she didn't think it could really be taken as prying where she didn't belong. Sometimes people needed to talk, she'd certainly been in that position before. Of course, during her often unhappy childhood she hadn't really had anyone to confide in, although things were different now. Now she knew she always had Aura or, if it was something Aura wasn't able to understand, she was sure Nathan would be willing to listen.
Amber couldn't help her mind as it veered in the direction of the experience of her first shift into a dinosaur. There had been death involved that night and a great deal of chaos. Sometimes she wondered about her sister. She tried not to of course, because they were family and she loved her family, but sometimes she couldn't help it.
Amber picked up on Henri’s weird phone grabbing. Of course she would, she had eyes and seemed like a smart girl. The brunette sighed and sat up more. “This group called the Kabal recruited me. They say they’re for peace. Not just for mutants, but humans too.” She set her phone on her bed stand next to her bed. “The thing is, I don’t know how much they’re telling me. There was the mention of some illegal things going on, but they say that they have to break some laws to make things better for everyone, everywhere. I can see that to a point, but they’ve given me this phone and are having me take self-defense lessons. I just don’t know how extreme they are and I’m afraid I’m getting into something bad.”
Henrietta looked at the girl, a confused look on her face. It was a questioning expression, like she was hoping for some sort of answer. Her blue eyes were wide and intense. She hadn’t had the chance to really tell anyone else about the Kabal. There was always something going on with her friends and her and Van had just recently reconciled. She wasn’t sure how to just bring something like this up in conversation, but since Amber had just came out and asked it, it was easier to talk about. Someone had helped her start this discussion, which just made it much, much simpler. Besides, she could just imagine Twyla’s reaction.
The 17-year-old sighed and then slouched back onto her bed. “I’m just confused and not sure what to do. I have a bad feeling, and none of my other,” she hinted at friend ship, “friends know yet. I’m sure they wouldn’t like me less or anything, but they’ll think I’m stupid for trusting something I barely know about.” Henri shook her head. “I am kind of being stupid, but I’d really like to be able to do something for people. I mean, I know there’s the X-Men, but I don’t feel like that’s where I should be.“ Quietly the girl added as she looked down, “I don’t know what or where I should be, besides a Mansion resident. That’s all that’s really good about my life. My friends.”

Amber hadn't ever heard of the Kabal before. She knew of the X Men or at least knew as much as anyone else knew about them, which wasn't much outside of the fact that they apparently tried to promote human and mutant peace. The fact that there even was another organization fighting for mutant rights in a different manner surprise her, though perhaps it shouldn't have. After all, was it really such a shock that someone would want to do something for mutants and maybe have a little different take on it than that of the pacifist X Men? Her sister, for example, obviously loved mutants but no one could ever call Aura a pacifist.
"Maybe you j-just need to find out more," Amber suggested. She was interested in what her new roommate had to say and not just out of concern for her new friend. That was part of it, of course, but there was also a sizable portion of her mind that was mulling over the idea of the Kabal. An organization that did sometimes illegal things in order to make the world for mutants a better place? It was a little frightening but it was also more than a little appealing. In fact, she felt drawn to it for some inexplicable reason. Maybe because she had been feeling helpless for so long and the truth was that she no longer desired to feel helpless. She wanted to do something, to stand up for herself. Maybe an organization like the Kabal would help her with that.
Amber smiled as Henri hinted that she was now considered among her friends. It felt good to be liked. "I d-don't know what I could do to help. B-but if you want I c-could go with you or something. M-maybe two of us would be better than one for g-getting information?" The thought that it was probably some sort of secret organization did occur to her, but it was at least worth a shot. Getting more information as well as helping out her new friend, she couldn't really ask for much more than that.
Henrietta’s new roommate suggested finding out more information on the Kabal. The brunette nodded and kind of shrugged at the same time. “I guess so, but I’m not really sure who I should ask and if the person I did ask would be willing to go into detail about the organization.” Henri quirked her lips slightly to one side in thought. “I suppose I could ask Mr. Swartz. He’s the leader of the Kabal and he seems decently nice.” She made a ‘hmm’ noise. “Or maybe Lenna. She’s the one who introduced me and she was really cool.”
The girl wasn’t completely confident that asking questions would actually get her answers, but it couldn’t hurt. They couldn’t be angry that a young girl would want answers, could they? It seemed like a common enough occurrence. Young people always wanted to know things and wanted to know the truth. They had a need, a craving to find these things out. So..maybe they’d tell her. She may have jumped in blindly, but now she wanted to see where she was going.
Amber filed both mentioned names away for later use. Now that she had heard the name of the Kabal, she was determined to find more about it. Whether or not it was the origination that was right for her, if there even was such an organization, she wasn't certain but she was determined to find out. If fact, the name Lenna sounded familiar and if she wasn't entirely mistaken she thought she had heard it spoken around Sanctuary. She would have to ask her sister Aura about that.
"You sh-should ask questions," Amber advised, although perhaps her view of questions were a little skewed. In particular, she loved asking them and seeking out answers to her questions. "I'm sure th-they'd be understanding. If they r-recruited you they m-must see something in you. If they value you they'll answer at l-least some of them."
The one thing Amber knew is that she was going to go on a quest to find more about the Kabal. In fact, if she did find out anything important she planned to pass the information onto her new roommate because she seemed like a nice person who needed those answers even more than Amber did.
Henrietta found it nice that she had a roommate who would listen to her talk. It was so much easier telling someone she barely knew about what stupid thing she did. She knew her friends would still accept her and be there for her, but it just seemed like the opportunity hadn’t risen yet. Even though she did have really good friends, they still may find her foolish and naïve. Maybe the girl was a bit of both, but she didn’t want people to view her as such.
The brunette glanced at Amber and then gave her a small smile. “Thank you so much. You’re pretty wise.” Henri set her phone on the side table and ran a hand through her hair. “I suppose that if I amimportant to them, they would feel obligated to tell me something. I guess I’m just scared that I’ll find out that they don’t need me. That would just…” Henrietta paused and then looked down. “It would just suck.” I don’t need to know that someone else doesn’t want me or need me. Her eyes widened slightly at the realization. Maybe I just want to feel like I have family again. It’ll be better to find out now if I’m needed or not.
Looking back up at her new friend, she grinned. “I think I should just ask one of my trainers the next time I see them. What’s the worst thing that could come from a question right? It shouldn’t be too rough…” I hope.
