The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Continuing to eat her cookies and milk Nika just listened as they discissed powers and such. Her ears would swivel in the direction of whoever was speaking at the moment.
Ted nodded as he listened to Michael. "Great, because I have a cunning plan. You know of the danger room? It's a big room where you can practise with your powers without hurting anyone, so I've been thinking about practising in there. I'd assumed I'd have to go in on my own so that I didn't hurt anyone, but since you can't be hurt we can go in together. You'd punch me, or somthing, and then I'd try to resist the transformation. Because it's you, and not anyone else, if it goes wrong you won't die. You could get throw around a bit, but you should be alright with that, right? Plus, it would allow you to see the limits of your power." Great! This is why I came here, to practise with my power, and now I can without causing anyone else pain. Well, providing he says yes, of course.

“That’s fine with me,” he could try and learn how to become immovable like when that lorry had hit him, “There’s a new part of my power that I came here to develop. Once, when I was hit by a lorry, instead of going flying I stayed completely still and the lorry crumpled around me. It’s not happened again since then, but I want to see if I can do it again, and getting walloped by a beast should give me plenty of chances to do so.”
Michael smiled and stuck out his hand, “You got a deal Ted. Another thing I’d like to do is learn a martial art of some sort. My parents wouldn’t let me as it would likely reveal my powers, but that’s not a problem here. Do any of you know if any of the teachers know martial arts?”
Ted shook Shield's outstretched hand. "Awesomeness, can't wait for our first session. A lorry crumpled around you? That must have pretty cool." Ted tried to imagine it in his mind, and it did looked really cool. "Looks like we'll both be gaining from this. Can't help you on the martial arts front though, tend to stay away from contact sports and such like. And I havn't been here long enough to get to know enough people who might be able to."

Raina smiled wide "I know a bit. it's mostly focused around endurance and agility... as you'll see i'm not the strongest around... it's nothing to do with my powers either, just something I was taught back home."

“Really?” Michael had longed for the chance to try martial arts ever since he saw his first kung fu movie. “Do you think you could teach me some of it?” He really looked forward to getting involved with martial arts and contact sports while he was at the mansion.

Raina stood up and decided to give an example. She stood in an attentive posture with her eyes closed and breathed in- much the way Yoga would start, and indeed began to flex her body. Then gracefully she swivelled in a motion like a dancer and silently leapt forward into a defence stance with her arms ready. It was an easy blocking technique- but the footwork was something she'd used often to navigate on the ice flows.
She took another breath and as she exhaled she twisted her body around in a dodge spinning her legs around midair with her arms still extended and in the second it took she went from a defence stance to an offence stance. Again, the principles seemed very much like yoga or tai-chi, but it wasn't hard to see the damage a move like that could do, or the support it could add to anyone's fighting skill.
The entire time Raina was showing moves, she left nothing but small sounds like velvet against grass in the air. She had fine tuned the art of silent movement- but her people were peacefull and the graceful fighting style was taught more of an art than a form of fighting. Still, it was easy to see the benifits.
She silently pulled one leg behind the other and did a forward role in the air, turning and shifting her body so that she now stood on one of the kitchen stools.
"There!" she exlaimed. "Wow, I still got it-" before she coud continue she embaressingly lost her embaressed and crashed into Ted hoping to God he caught her.
ooc: I dont like Raina to appear too refined, as she has a lot to learn... but she does have some talent. I like to balance posts of her gifts with a little bad luck humor
OOC: this is my last post til monday, maybe sunday if you're lucky, so feel free to go on without me
IC: Ted watched Raina, impressed at how she could move. Shelooked impressed too, but then she lost her balence and fell right toward him. Acting quickly, Ted caught her with both arms and placed her back on her feet. "You alright? That was some pretty nifty stuff, well, except for falling on me." Ted said with a grin, "I wouldn't mind learning some of that, once I've learned not to eat everyone who hits me, that is." He imagined a training session with a group of mutants following Raina's directon.

“Yeah, that was some pretty cool stuff. Would you mind teaching me some of that, and there’s no need to worry about me falling over,” he said with a big grin. Being here at the mansion felt very relaxing, as he didn’t need to hide anything from anyone, but could be open and himself.
Absently mindedly he took another cookie and munched on it. He was looking forward to living here, and could see it being a lot of fun.

Raina turned as red as her hair. "Ahh i'm such a klutz... I was just... uh.. avoiding an imaginary attack!" she laughed giving Ted a pat on the shoulder as a thanks. "you know, the er... dogdious maximus move..." she laughed a little hesitant. "I'd be happy to show you though, Ted.. you really practice solo to begin with. If I taught you and Mike here, you'd just mimic my moves. Then as we progressed you could try on each other"
She thought it could be a good thing. And was eager to help.

Little Millie had fallen asleep during the arrivals of other mutants to join in the conversation. The little girl was laying on the floor, underneath the table, it was quite discreet and she was silent. Just, out of the blue, the little one passed out, clutching her teddy tightly before another nightmare began to creap upon her. Her foot twitched in her sleep and she made a small noise as her nightmare started up and she saw the mutated man again.
However, as she man came closer, she began to glow, shining light on his face. Just as she did so, he became clearer and she could see that he was really two of her. But odd looking versions of her. One had jet black hair and was pale while the other had a grayish colored hair and tear stained cheeks. The gray haired one was holding Merlin the Wonder Teddy while the black haired one had a contorted Wonder Teddy who was mangled and falling apart.
The tear-stained one came closer and touched Millie's cheeks, turning her hair color back to blonde again before crying some more. All the while, back in the real world, little Millie's hair turned gray and she began to cry as her fingertips started glowing. The tear-stained one was taking control of Millie's body through her dreams. In a way, this was bad, but it would not be nearly as bad as when Nightmare's touch would follow and suck all of the light from everywhere, creating a dark and horrible world as her emotions ran haywire. The tear-stained one needed to keep ahold of Millie's cheek, keep Nightmare away. All three had names, but Millie only knew her own. There was Millie, the blonde, kind one, then there was Gris, the tear-stained one, and then there was Nightmare, the one that shouldn't be let out.
Gris sat up and rubbed her tearful eyes. She grabbed Merlin and hugged him before crawling from under the table, using Millie's body but carrying her own hair color. She moved over to the fridge, still wiping her tears and pulled out some milk after pulling up a chair to reach. Her fingertips were still glowing, but she didn't notice. She just sat down on the floor with her legs crossed and drank her milk, still crying, still mentally unstable. What was happening to sweet Millie?
Michael saw the little girl for the first time as she went to get some milk from the fridge. He couldn’t bare the sight of her sitting there, clutching her teddy bear with ears streaming down her face. He went over and knelt down in front of her.
“Hey there, what wrong?” he asked gently. She seemed to be ok physically, so figured that something must have spooked her. He quickly glanced around to see if he could find anything that could have startled her, but saw nothing.
Looking down at her hands he saw the light emitting from her fingertips, and guessed that she was a mutant too. He hoped that whatever it was that had scared her there was something he could do to help.

Raina looked down at Millie and for better or for worse her motherly instics she'd gained from her tribe took over. "Oh Millie!" she exclaimed scooping the little one up. She noticed right away that Millie's hair was different- it didn't shock her as bad as she thought though, Raina's own hair could change when she used her own abilities. It caused Raina to wonder what Millie's Mutation could be. "You must have fallen asleep on the floor you poor thing... where's Merlin? Oh! here he is!" she pressed Merlin tight to Millie and gave the youngster a reasurring squeeze. "It's alrightnow." she said soothingly. "Here you sit here." she placed the girl on the stool and got the milk. "We need to find you a bed!"
Nika also noticed the sudden arrival of the little girl from under the table. At first Nika was confused as to how she could've missed seeing or hearing the girl, but when she saw the girl was crying Nika dismissed her previous thoughts. She watched as Raina and Michael tried to help the poor girl feel better.
