The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ted sighed. He hadn't really spoken to anyone about this since... well, since it happened. "Well, it's sort of a long story. It started when my powers first showed themselves during rugby game back in England. Someone made an appaling tackle, and dislocated my leg. Pain is what makes my go all furry, and it was only very recently that I learnt that I could control it. Back then, once transformed it was like going to sleep. And sleep walking. Well, less walking, more running and biting. But anywho, whilst I can't remember any of this, I found out later that the beast I turned into turned on the guy, and attacked him. Someone called the police, but by the time they arrived..." He wasn't entirely sure how to put this bit. He had thouroughly avoided blaming himself, as it wasn't his fault, and was technically the other guy's fault for the bad tackle, but it was still pretty tough stuff. "Well, basically they arrived before I attacked anyone else, and contained me. They then realised that they had no idea what to do, so I was shipped off to america a few days later. Something about there being more mutants, I'm still not entirely sure. I was supposed to be taken to a high security prison, but some mutant's rights guys attacked the armoured car they were transporting me in. I got injured during the doomed skirmish, which allowed the beast to fight it's own way out. I woke up in an alleyway so far away I couldn't even here the sirens anymore. I spent the rest of the time out on the streets, stealing to survive. You may have noticed that a few months, there were stories on the news about a 'werewolf' terrorizing parts of New York. That was me." He realised that he had gone into quite a lot more depth than he had meant to. Smooth.
Shut up!
"So that's about it. What were we talking about before I started rambling?"
The look on Nika's face was one of awe. She hadn't heard about a werewolf running rampant through the city. Though she had seen werewolf movies so she could kind of get the idea of what had happened. No need to go into graphic details.
"Umm...We were talking about X-Men uniforms and being X-men."
Wow. She evidently hadn't heard of the most recent wolfman being loose on the city, or she had thought it was really cool that it was him. He realised that he was ok with either. "That's right, uniforms, I remember. We were talking about how a white one would stand out and be really cool." He'd added the cool part, but he decided that it fitted. A brief mental image of Nika in such a uniform formed, and cool definately fitted. He could think of a few other words, but decided that 'cool' was the most appropriate. Didn't want to freak her out. You're ranting again.
Shut up!
"I think mine would be like, I don't know, black, but with brown and/or red stripes down it, and it wouldn't be too strong. I don't want it to soften blows too much, or else it'll be harder to transform and kick some ass, furry style." Wallace was starting to get bored, so since veryone else seemed distracted, he decided to go exploring. He jumped down from the table, and trotted out through the open door. Unfortunately, Ted didn't notice any of this, what with him focusing on describing his very cool uniform.
For a moment it seemed as if Ted was focusing on Nika but hee kind of had a look of being in la la land. What was he thinking about? Was he reliving his little run of terror or was it something else?
Then he started up again with the uniforms. The description of his possible uniform sounded like it would fit his characteristics.
"Yeah, that sounds pretty cool too." Just then Nika giggled again as a thought popped into her head.
"Tell you what. Since my uniform would most likely make me an obvious target i'll stand behing you and you can take the first hit and while you're busy changing forms I'll be kickcing serious butt fury style instead."
Ted laughed, "So now I'm captain meat shield? I thought Michael had already volunteered?" In fact, that seemed to be very much what Michael did. He was everyone else's shield... hey, that would be a cool nickname! He'd have to tell Michael that one. "But I'd be more than happy to take the fire. Providing there's more than you can take in five minutes, I'll be up and at 'em like the best of us. But you'd have to make sure my motionless body didn't get mauled though." He winked cheerfully, then realised that something was missing. Wallace! "Oh crap, where's Wallace gone?" He glanced around the kitchen, and then spotted the open door. "Damnit, he could be anywhere by now."
"Hey that name does kind of fit Michael. Oh don't worry. You can take all the time you need to transform. I'll take care of all the bad guys so you won't have to break a sweat."
Nika giggled again but it was abruptly interrupted as Ted noticed Wallace was missing. Quickly Nika got up and looked around the kitchen area.
"Great, first Iris's cat and now Ted's pup." she mumbled to herself as she went to the door and looked out into the hallway.
Ted heard her mumble, and realised that Nika may not know about his enhanced hearing, so he didn't say anything. Instead, he beat her to the door and into the hall, where thankfully he saw that a young student had Wallace. The two of them seemed to be getting along well, and Ted laughed. "Got all worked up for nothing. How you doing there, little fella?" The child thought that Ted was peaking to him, and loooked up. "I'm fine. I founded a puppy!" This caused Ted to laugh again, "That's my puppy, he's called Wallace. Hey Nika, I think Wallace is fine." He ruffled the kid's hair, "If you want, you can hang onto him for a while. But I'm going to have to take him back later, ok?" The kid nodded, "I'll take the bestest care of him!" The child scooped up Wallace, and ran off down the hall, conversing eagerly with the little fluff ball.
"I think those two are going to get along well. I can pick up Wallace's scent, I should be able to track 'em down later." Ted's stomach chose then to grumble in complaint. "Heh, guess I'm hungry again."
Apparently they didn't have far to go in order to find Wallace. Nika watched and listened as Ted spoke with the kid. She then watched the youngster run off with Wallace but her attention was soon drawn back to Ted.
"Maybe you should've eaten more."
She gave him an awkward look that almost said 'excuse you'. Then she pushed upen the kitchen door again.
Ted grinned. "Hell yeah." He made his way back to the fridge, and pulled out another burger. After a moment's thought, he pulled out another two as well. "You want anything whilst I'm here?" He put all three burgers into the microwave, and set the timer for three times as long. He would have changed the power setting to three times as high, but he had long ago learnt that 'power settings' are very difficult to change and not end up with a mess. So timer it was.
