The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She stepped out into the sunshine, seemingly much more comfortable. He followed after her, just half a step behind which was close enough for conversation and to protect her if anyone tried to come close, but not so close that he was in danger of touching her himself. It was very body-guardly in Jamison's mind.
>>"You not have to follow after me or anything." And most maddeningly, she slowed so that if they wanted to make any forward progress, he would have to walk beside her. Jamison sighed. It wasn't as authentic this way... unless she was making her bodyguard seem like he wasn't a body guard. He smiled inwardly. Marcus sulked, and pretended to look around.
He was listening, however, when she asked him a couple of questions. “Yes, Slate hired me.” He lied easily, filing the name away for later consideration. “And, it's a way to make cash.” He shrugged, wishing he was actually getting paid for this little outing. “And for the company, of course,” he teased.
Figures, thought Svetlana. Well, it could have been worse.
>> “And, it's a way to make cash.”
And she wished she got paid for it too. Not like she needed anything; she had money left from her 'dowry', and all the essentials were provided anyway. But it was not the same as having a job you got paid for. It was more like getting paid just to stay out of the way.
>>“And for the company, of course,”
Sveta snorted at that, and rolled her eyes. "They say you I am good company?" she chuckled "Or it is just because of the looks?" she knew she looked good, she was trained for it "It can be fun, you know. I get bored too, just sitting around. You not have to act like, a bodyguard or something."

Marcus raised an eyebrow when she mentioned her looks so blatantly. “Actually, they did give me a picture. But just so I'd know who to keep from running away should I meet them on the fire escape.” He grinned again. The lies came so much easier when he was teasing.
>>”It can be fun, you know. I get bored too, just sitting around. You not have to act like, a bodyguard or something."
Jamison considered this last statement. She seemed like a kid who was dying to have a little fun. And he wasn't really her caretaker. He wasn't required to hold her hand (metaphorically, of course, considering the potential damages) and tell her what to do. Maybe she should have a little fun. An exciting day out that had more of a highlight than just 'going for a walk'.
“Well, then what do you say we don't go back right away? Have a little fun and excitement, live a little before we go back?” And this time he actually meant that he would take her anywhere. Anywhere at all.
>>“Well, then what do you say we don't go back right away? Have a little fun and excitement, live a little before we go back?”
Sveta stopped and turned to look at him, tilting her head as she tried to see if he was being serious. Maybe he was just teasing her again. Or being sarcastic. But Marcus looked very sincere.
Sveta grinned.
"That sound good to me." she nodded "But you have to say where we go. Maybe you notice, I do not go out much. I do not know what to do for fun around here. So. You choose." she paused "And if we get to trouble, you explain to Slate."
That was something they needed to agree on. Not like Sveta was afraid of the teenager. Not at all.

“Of course I'll tell Slate.” he assured her, though he scrunched up his face to show that if anything went terribly wrong, he wouldn't enjoooy telling Slate. His boss. Well, Marcus's boss.
Now he had to pretend that he actually knew the area. His wanderings might help him here, but what would be exciting yet not too touristy at the same time? Obviously the Statue of Liberty was out of the question. And probably the Empire State Building, as well.
He shrugged, “I don't suppose you like baseball?” he offered, at all times the awkward male trying to find something a girl would be interested in. “Or there's always the zoo...?” He let the question hang, so really, she would be the one to choose. Besides, girls liked the zoo, right? Marcus would have thought, were he a real person. He could have suggested shopping, but that just seemed too stereotypical.
Well, that was settled, then. Sveta walked on with a cheerful smile. If anything went wrong, she'd just blame it on Marcus. That's what he was getting paid for, right?
>>“I don't suppose you like baseball? Or there's always the zoo...?”
"I do not know how baseball work." she waved her hand as they walked "Dey do not play it where I come from."
She could never wrap her head around American sports. Not like she tried, but still. They looked fairly complicated.
"Zoo, dat sounds good." she agreed on the second option; even she was not cruel enough to drag Marcus away to shopping on their first day together. She could always ask Sebastian. "Let's go to the zoo!"
