The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Elizabeth stood on the sidewalk, staring mainly at the vast...fortress in front of her. Out of the corner of her eye, Liz could see the taxi driving away, along with her last chance to turn back. A gentle cough from her mother urged Liz to get moving. She blinked several times, fighting down the tear s that wanted to escape as the reality of what she was doing slowly began sinking in. She was officially moving out, to stay in a strange place for people as strange as herself, and without her family.
But she needed to do this. Taking a deep breath and focusing her thoughts on what she was doing, she gave a quick smile to her mom and picked up Nico’s cage and one of her suitcases and led the way through the entrance gates.
Wordlessly, Liz gazed all around her as she walked up the path to the mansion. The place was spectacular! Bright green grass, teenagers and people of assorted ages (mutants, they must’ve been) hanging out all over, and a huge hedge maze, to name a few things that stole her attention. A smile spread across her face despite what she was feeling. Like it or not (and she wasn’t sure which one yet), this was where she was going to live. Even if it turned out to be a prison for her, it would seem just about worth it.
As she got closer to the front doors, Liz gave the mansion grounds one final test. She lowered the weak barriers in her mind that she’d spent months figuring out how to do and let raw and wild emotions sweep through her.
With a gasp she froze as a wave of happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and overall…words could not describe the feeling. Nor could words accurately describe the amount of it she felt! So many emotions flickered through her that Liz hastily barricaded her mind from the majority. What a rush! There were so many animals present at the school, at least as many as in a park, or so Liz thought, based on the sheer magnitude of feelings that greeted her.
“Are you okay, honey?” her mother asked tentatively. It was then that Liz realized she was just standing in the middle of the path, staring off into nothing with a stupid grin stretching her cheeks out of proportion. She giggled at herself. “Oh mother, I feel great! I think I could live here for awhile!” she said with all sincerity. It seemed that the influx of positive emotions garnered from the surrounding animals had washed away her doubt and self-guilt about leaving home. Her remaining sadness and fear about leaving her family couldn’t hold a candle to the animal-borrowed feelings.
Freshly invigorated, Liz began skipping up the path towards the door, earning a few indignant squawks from the parrot in the blanket-covered cage and leaving her mother slightly puzzled at her daughter’s sudden change in attitude.
It was a beautiful day out. In fact, so beautiful that the light from the sun had interrupted Fade's day to sleep in. Her bed had become the perfect oven and the sunlight spilling in through her curtains turned that oven to full blast. It was no longer an option to sleep in and she lazily got out of bed. Nothing seemed to need her immediate attention, so she spent a good thirty minutes in the shower, singing herself into consciousness. The day seemed to be quite a relaxing one, but she didn't feel much like being bored to death by such relaxation. With her wet hair dripping a trail where ever she walked, she threw on some shorts and a cute little tee-shirt.
She made her way over to the window to pull back the rest of the sundefeated curtains. When they had been pulled aside, a sqwuak caught her attention and she directed her focus to the path to the Mansion, where a girl and her mother were walking up. The girl was happily skipping, carrying something with a cover on it. Must be some sort of a bird. Curiousity caught the better of her and she figured meeting a new resident would be one way to start the day. It was either that or have a bowl of cereal. In order to never get out of shape, she decided to use her powers. With ease, she slid herself out the window, well, through the window actually, and used her claws to climb down the walls of the Mansion. It was a good thing the raptor claws did not cause any damage or she would have been kicked out a long time ago.
Parents were complicated. While some claimed to have nothing against mutants since their child was one, they usually didn't like a show from a mutant, so she turned invisible after she had phased through. Hopefully the mother didn't see her suddenly come out of her window. Some bushes were underneath the redhead when she finally made it to ground level and she kicked herself off the building and over the bushes. The landing was a little harsh, even caused a small roll, but she recovered and stood up. Again, trying not to startle the mother with her power, she walked around to the back as if she only just caught up with them.
"Hello, ladies. Nice day, huh?" she asked, her hands behind her back. While she had gotten used to not turning her claws invisible, some people found it a bit intimidating, so she kept it behind her back until she could prove she was a nice person and wouldn't use them against the mother and daughter. "My name is Jenny McCullen, are you a new student?" Referring to herself as her real name was never a fun thing. In fact, she hated it. The only people that could get away with it would be parents and of course, Sam, who believed everyone of the X-Men should be called by their birthnames. The thought had crossed her mind to legally change her name, but that would involve admitting her name is Jenny McCullen, and years back, when she was on the street, that was quite the pick-pocketing wanted name. So scratch that idea.

>>> "Hello, ladies. Nice day, huh?"
The voice caught Liz off guard. "I'm sorry?" she said as she twirled on her heel. Her red skirt flared out as she did so, making the movement look somewhat graceful, despite the awkward counterbalances of a suitcase and Nico's cage. She blew a strand of hair out of her face. Somehow it had worked its way free of her ponytail, a feat she would later make sure would never happen again. Before she could do anything else, her mother stepped in, instinctively moving between Jenny and Liz, as if in defense.
“Yes, Elizabeth is a new student, well, at least she will be. I was just taking her inside to enroll, as a matter of fact,” Amanda Sundance said smoothly and politely. “I’m Amanda Sundance, her mother. Um, could you please tell us where the administration offices are?” Liz peeped out at Jenny from around her mother’s shoulder, edging around until she was standing in full view of her. She set her suitcase and Nico’s cage down for the moment, relishing taking the strain off her arms. Nico in combination with his cage made for a pretty hefty bundle.
But Nico didn’t like being set down on the ground. As Elizabeth’s mother asked for directions, Nico began squawking and carrying on. Realizing her mistake, Liz quickly picked the cage up again and pulled the blanket down around the sides even more, thinking that the movement and sunlight made him perturbed. It did no good. With an embarrassed smile on her face for the misbehaving bird, Liz casually slunk back behind her mother and concentrated on her parrot.
Okay, Mr. Nico. Enough’s enough. Be positive. Be happy. For heaven’s sake, at least be calm! Beth crouched down and began broadcasting a simple emotion at him. Calmness. Tranquility. Serenity. whatever you wanted to call it. Slowly but surely, Nico started behaving.
With a small, self-satisfied grin on her face, Liz stood back up with Nico’s cage firmly clenched in her hand.
Wind buffering his feathers caused him to adjust slightly as his eyes grew weary it was a long night of hardly any sleep, the cat nightmare was back again and for some reason he couldn’t roll over and go back to sleep so he spent the early morning flying and then puttered around the mansion before deciding he wanted to take to the air again. A yawn and a bug flew down his mouth. Sputtering in mid air Carrick started to cough and sputter until the bug in question was expunged from his mouth.
”Yuck!” Carrick said to himself looking down on the mansion where the now soggy bug fell from the sky. He wondered if it was going to hit anyone. He hoped it didn’t less he would have something else to worry about other than a few upset classmates who didn’t find the shaving cream in the gym lockers as funny as he did. That was the problem with Americans after all most of them lacked a sense of humor. Most of them, there were a few he didn’t have any problems with when it came to jokes such as those. But a spit bug… well that was something that even he didn’t find funny.
Sighing and turning his tail upward Carrick tilted his golden angelic wings forward and dove forward the sun giving them a glowing appearance as he quickly reached the spit bug in question. Within seconds the ground was quickly approaching and so were three females, the first thing that caught his attention was the surplus of red. One had a red skirt the other was just a red head. A Ginger if you will, something he was familiar with back home.
The ground drew his attention well the bug occupied most of it but he knew if he kept the dive going he wouldn’t be able to pull out to save his Irish arse from a crash landing and Doc wasn’t too keen on the last failed landing Carrick had to be brought into the infirmary for.
Right hand outstretched Carrick grabbed the now somewhat dried off fly still surrounded by a much smaller amount of spit. He stuck out his tongue for a moment and muttered a disgusted sound before he looked forward to see the three women standing up ten to fifteen feet or so from where he was. ”Heads up!” turning his wings last second Carrick managed to not run into anyone but they way he was he couldn’t make a proper landing so why not a running one?
Wings still flapping Carrick turned slightly and felt his feet hit the ground as he slowed his landing by running with his current direction eventually stopping the run altogether when he managed to be firmly on the ground. Once he was on the ground he opened his hand and gave a disgusted look and stuck out his tongue as he wiped the hand with the bug and spit on the grass. ”Could have been catty there…” Carrick said in his Irish accent looking over to the three woman he almost hit.
”Sorry bout that! Forgot to keep my mouth shut up there…” Carrick pointed up to the sky before he folded his wings behind him. Eyeing the three woman he smiled and then walked closer when he saw the suitcases clearly someone new was moving in and from the looks of it she had a pet, one Carrick had a feeling he would take interest with quickly. Birds were a topic of interest after all. Well the kind with wings not so much the three birds in front of him.
The red head looked familiar a student maybe? Defiantly not a teacher so he didn’t have any problems with her that he could remember he didn’t now quite yet but figured he would find out if he stuck around. If he recalled he spotted her with Lily at one point or another. Looking to the other two who he figured were mother and daughter he smiled, ”Hiya, Name’s Carrick, you moving in?” he asked the girl holding the covered cage.
The woman introduced herself, taking charge of the situation as most parents do. The girl hid behind her mother and tended to the sqwuaking brid hidden in the cage. Though Fade was not the Mansion Greeter, she had helped a few people get settled down at the Mansion. Shin stepped in half way through before and usually someone came along and helped. It was time for the redhead to get used to not waiting on others to swoop in and save her from the dreaded parents. If only everyonen just came to the school without the parents, then it was so much easier and much more casual. You didn't have to worry about how you looked or watch what you say carefully. Any wrong step with a parent was a bad step indeed.
"Yes, the office is right inside here," she said, raising her hands to show them inside. Deciding that her raptor claws would be a little much to show a prospective student's mother, she turned them invisible before bringing her hands from her back. Since she it was also unsettling to turn the entire nail invisible, down to the skin tissue, she left a light layer of the claws on her fingers, making them appear a graphite black. Looking a little dark was better than weapons or just plain skin on her fingernails.
Just as she worried about shocking the mother too quickly with her powers, her attention was redirected to the sky. A large shadow swept over her, followed by a partially crashing creature. It had wings and some looks of a bird, but with a tail. Fade didn't learn much about mythological creatures, so she had no idea what exactly was in front of her. It talked. There were some things that reminded her that she needed to get out around the Mansion more often. It sounded male, and it had an accent. Some sort of Scandanavian accent, but she wasn't quite sure which part. She searched her mind for a name to the mutant in front of her, but she couldn't come up with one.
"We have mutants from all sorts of backgrounds and powers here, and they're all quite friendly, I'm sure you're daughter will find making friends here is easy. Students practically fly in to the rescue when they see a new friend," she cracked a joke. Some parents were against that, and even more were against mutants flying in and crash landing in front of them on the first visit, first impression of the Mansion. She still searched her mind for the mutant's name, but she had no clue. There were still students at the school she did not know. It may be because she was neither a teacher nor a student, just a resident and a local do-gooder with the team.

Just when things were getting to the peak of awkwardness with her mother taking charge, the Lord answered Liz’s silent prayer to get things over with and sent an angel swooping out of the sky to guide the way. At least, that’s how it seemed to Beth when a short lad with ginormous wings nearly bowled them over like he was aiming for a perfect 300. Turning, she followed the boy’s landing with her eyes as her mother recovered from her open shock and surprise and Nico began causing a racket again.
Then the boy apologized and Beth smiled. He had an Irish accent! She loved Irish accents, and not just because someone in her ancestry was Irish. She liked Spanish, French, Scottish, and Australian accents as well so heritage had nothing to do with it. And his was especially cool. The rest of him wasn’t so bad either. His name, Carrick, just rolled over her tongue. It fit him. Not that she would’ve know what the name would’ve fit if it hasn’t fit Carrick. It just seemed…right.Yeah, I could so live here, she thought with a smile and a slightly dreamy expression.
Then she realized that he’d spoken to her with that beautiful accent and voice…. She blinked twice and felt heat rush into her cheeks. “Oh, um, yeah, I’m moving in. I’m a new student and I was just about to be enrolled. And my name’s Elizabeth.” Wow. I so messed that up. Okay Liz, focus. Nothing to get overly embarrassed about. It’s just a guy, albeit one with a really fine accent and appearance, but just a guy nonetheless. Slightly shifting her weight to her other foot, Liz gave a weak smile and glanced around before coming up with something to say in response.
“Um, nice landing,” she said.
Meanwhile her mother was listening to Jenny. “None of the students here are dangerous, are they? I want my daughter to be safe,” Amanda Sundance informed their greeter. A mix of feelings began bubbling up in her. The main one was the instinctual protection for her child. The second greatest one was the fear of what she was doing. She was sending her only child to live with a school full of mutants who could do God-knows-what? What was she thinking? Her eyes darted over to the winged boy who had initiated conversation with Elizabeth. He also had a tail. What other things could he have? Razor claws? Poison spit? Her knuckles tightened on Liz’s suitcases.
Keeping up a warm smile Carrick looked from one lady to the next then turning his attention back on the two who caught his initial interest the new girl and her mystery bird who was squawking. Immediately feeling the death gaze he was getting from the one who he determined was the mother Carrick kept up a warm appearance not hinting that he noticed the gaze. It wasn’t the first time he got a look like that from a mother, or a father… or anyone for that matter. She is just jealous, he determined as he focused on the girl.
”Pleasure to meet you Elizabeth!” Carrick said as he reached out to shake her hand (the non spit bugged one was the one doing the shaking) and who ever else’s hand would greet him. His tail swished and flicked through the air as his smiling continued, ”Every landing can’t be graceful gotta take the good with the bad or it would be boring ya know?” Carrick said as he noticed that her face was red now. He blinked and wondered why that was maybe it was an American thing, most girls her have been doing that a lot lately.
Looking down to the cage Carrick nodded his head, ”Whatcha got there?” he silently approved of his own language restrictions that seemed to come into effect whenever a parent was around. What he didn’t approve of as much was the cage it self, he was a free bird after all. He did however know that all birds weren’t meant to be just like him.
His cat side full of curiosity was getting the better of him, his tailed started to slow down and it swayed back and forth like a lion would before a pounce. He had no intention of pouncing but he was defiantly curious. ”What grade you in?” Carrick asked looking from the cage back to Elizabeth. She did say she was taking classes maybe she would even be scheduled to be in most if not all of his classes, well if he occasionally went to class instead of just skipping.
Elizabeth seemed to soak up the mutant in front of them, a Mr. Carrick. Fade could see the girl's cheeks blushing up and the boy's tail swishing around as if he were waiting in anticipation. Boy, did this scene most certainly make her feel old. She'd forgotten about all those blushy cute girly feelings you get when you see a cute boy and he actually sees you back, and talks to you! Her loss of Raphael seemed to keep her cheeks permanently pale, but she was slowly getting over that. The mother, however, did not dwell much on the new winged mutant, her purpose was purely for her daughter, no side-shows or thrill at the sound of her daughter flirting, or at least crushing. Her mind was set on her daughter's protection and she asked Fade quite the hard question.
Were there any dangerous mutants? It really all depended on the mutant, not the power. A power like Fade's could even be dangerous. What would happen if she phased through someone's body and then turned solid whilst inside the body? What would that body do? Or she could sneak around and find other mutants weaknesses by eavesdropping on them practicing with their powers. But she was a good mutant, as good as she could be with some flaws, but who doesn't have flaws? Mutants were only dangerous if they chose to be, or if they were those rare mutants who had no control over their mutation and never could.
"The most dangerous mutant is the one who cannot control their power. That is why here at Xavier's, we work with the students on their powers, teach them how to control it. We have set ups away from other mutants if a mutants power can affect other mutants. Your daughter will not only be safe around fellow students who are learning their powers, but she will be surrounded by teachers and residents who have learned control of their power and hold the protection of their students in as high of regard as a parent to their child. The students are our lives and we won't let anything happen to them," she said, feeling she answered the question quite well. Carrick was the perfect example of a student learning his power, though Fade refrained from mentioning it. If he had no training, it was be a horrible crash. Soon he would learn how to land perfectly.

“Likewise,” Liz said in greeting to the boy. Fortunately, she was holding Nico’s cage with her left hand, allowing her to quickly shake Carrick’s hand without any awkwardness. Well, without much awkwardness. It was still a little weird to be talking to an angel while her mother was taking total charge over the situation with Ms. McCullen. Not to mention how embarrassing it was that she couldn’t control her blush or her stupid smile that kept popping up on her face. She was surprised that her entire face wasn’t red by now.
”Every landing can’t be graceful gotta take the good with the bad or it would be boring ya know?”
“I dunno about that. I don’t think flying would ever get boring,” she averted her eyes from his face and glanced up at the sky. Big puffy cumulus clouds floated here and there, resembling fantastic shapes like a seahorse and a train. Before she would allow herself to slip off into a daydream about flying through the marshmallow-like poofs, she returned to the winged (and tailed) mutant in front of her.
”Whatcha got there?”
The nod if his head told Liz what he was talking about. “This?” she asked, holding up Nico’s cage. “This is my pet, Nico. He’s an African grey parrot.” She pulled the blanket away from the front, allowing Nico to see and be seen through one wall of the cage. Nico cocked his head and blinked at the boy before climbing onto the bars of the exposed walls in order to get a better look. My, Nico was curious, as Carrick also seemed to be. But it made sense when she stopped to look at it. Nico had never seen an angel before. And she was betting that Carrick’s mutation had something to do with birds, hence his bird-like wings. Although the lion tail had her puzzled.
And the guy was full of questions too! ”What grade you in?”, he’d asked her. She was about to reply when her mother started walking towards the mansion. “This way, you said?” Amanda Sundance asked Jenny. “Thank you.” she told Jenny as she impatiently motioned for Elizabeth to come along.
“I’ll be in 10th,” Liz quickly told Carrick before picking up her other suitcase and following her mother.
Nodding his head with a smile and not commenting on her now redder face Carrick agreed, ”Your right, never been bored with flying yet…” his tail continued to sway behind him as he didn’t really pay much attention to Elizabeth’s mother anymore she seemed to busy talking to the red headed mutant who he guessed drew the short stick which was why she was greeting and playing tour guide on such a beautiful day as today.
He smiled to Elizabeth and then leaned in a bit to eye the parrot in the cage who was previously draped behind a curtain in hopes t keep him from being startled or quite he remembered his mother used to joke with him about covering his older brother when he wasn’t being the nicest. It usually shut him up but then again, it could have been the look his mother had given his brother. Golden brown wings opened slightly behind him as he leaned in a bit more to get a closer look at the pet called Nico.
A smile still on his face Carrick spoke out to the bird, ”Nico…” waiting for a response from the bird his attention was drawn back on Elizabeth who responded with the grade she would be going in. ”Ah, me too!” she picked up the suitcase and started to head off with the greeter and the mother. He was familiar with the process of the new residency greetings and even though he was curious about Elizabeth he didn’t feel like getting in the way or reliving the tour.
”Well, guess that’s my cue to head off again…” Carrick opened his wings and then flapped them once then twice and jumped into the air, ”Hopefully we can run into each other when your not busy, my room is 217, oh and nice meeting you Nico!” with that he was off flapping his wings and his tail swiveling behind him. Unbeknownst to him however a large rouge feather seemed to decided to jump ship from his wings, the thing flew downward as Carrick continued to climb till he looked like a tiny flying bird off in the distance.
((REALLY SORRY ABOUT THAT! Been having some internet connection problems))
The two students...well... one student and one prospective student... were getting along marvelously and Fade was relieved that the mother was not discomforted by the flying boy to make her leave. Some parents had their little comfort zones. Hell, even Fade was shocked by his sort of crash landing, but she was glad they didn't see her walk out of her bedroom window and shimmy down the wall. Invisibility really came in handy at times. The mother was insistent on continuing the process of enrolling in the school and Fade was all too happy to direct her inside, where crash landings were less possible...though still possible at this school.
"Yes, ma'am, right through here," she said, leading through the door and into the foyer. Though it was a large foyer, it was still inviting, even the rich would nod their head at the choice of soft colors and lighting in the room. This usually calmed anxious parents, there must be something about a mutant school that makes parents think that inside, there are trees everywhere, or it's freezing cold, or something of that nature. Maybe they thought it looked like the London Dungeon.
As Fade's mind wandered everywhere, she heard a noise, a flapping noise, and she looked over to see Carrick flying off. Well, that was just another day at the Mansion, a mutant drops in, says a few things, and then flies off again. If Fade were to just simply disappear and go back to her bedroom, well, it just wasn't a good decision so she didn't make it. "You said you were going into 10th grade?" Fade asked the girl, mkaing some small talk while she walked across the foyer to Shin's Office. There was some paperwork outside of the office and Fade thumbed through it, looking for the new student packet. They were much thicker and while she couldn't quite make out all of the words in the packet (she was still in the process of learning to read), she found the right one and pulled it out along with a pen. "There is a table in the next room," she offered.

The parrot squawked as the bird-boy flew off into the sky. Elizabeth momentarily stopped to watch the process, completely in awe at it. That had to have been the greatest power ever. Either that or making things happen for you at the snap of the fingers. But you could buy that. Because she was turned around and watching, she noticed a single feather spiraling down toward the ground. She glanced behind her and then dashed forward toward the feather and snatched it up. She didn’t know why, but in retrospect she figured she could return it to him later, like he’d lost it or something. He had given her his room number so it was very possible. She slipped it into Nico’s cage before following her mother inside.
She caught up just in time to answer Jenny’s question. “Yes, tenth grade,” she said politely. The same grade Carrick will be in. It was a rather nice thought. She stared around the foyer and was immediately taken in by the vastness and beauty of it. She was living there?! It was incredible! Liz glanced sideways at her mother, carefully watching her expression. Amanda had a very calm expression, completely controlled and barely letting anything. But Liz knew her mother a bit better. She knew that the friendliness and the warm atmosphere (ambiance, not temperature) would help her feel more at ease. And Liz was certainly willing to live there!
Amanda Sundance took the package with a flat smile and led Liz off to the mentioned room. There, Amanda Sundance mainly took over, filling everything out while leaving Elizabeth standing there, gazing around at her soon-to-be-home.
Eventually her mother finished and Liz had to read and sign a few things. Then they got up and headed back to the foyer. With each step, Liz began getting giddier and giddier, excitement and nervousness rising with each foot. “What next?” Amanda asked Ms. McCullen, having never entered a daughter in a new school before. Well, except for primary school, but that had been so long ago and this was quite a different matter. Beth was content to merely stand and look around.
Mrs. Sundance took over rather quickly and took the papers to fill them out. Though Elizabeth followed, she did not really participate until her mother passed her the papers. Since there were a couple of papers, Fade kept herself busy, or at least looked like she was busy. She fumbled through her pockets to find little receipts for Subway or some Walmart shopping personal items, like shampoo and hair ties. Nothing really kept her attention and she threw everything away, no sense in keeping it in her pocket much longer. Grabbing some papers on the little table, she organized them, well, she rather put them in a nice pile.
By the time she ran out of things to fumble around with, Mrs. Sundance returned with the papers filled out, inquiring what to do next. So Fade wasn't the Mansion Greeter, that was Shin's job, but she'd included herself at enough of them and knew that after the paperwork, it was time for a tour, if the new student and their parents wished to get a tour. "Would you like a tour of the Mansion?" she asked, taking the papers and deciding what to do with them. She did not want to leave it outside of Shin's door, it would look as though Elizabeth's paperwork was not a priority. Instead, she took it and phased through the door. Once inside, it was dark and she blinked furiously a few times to adjust to the lack of light before she found the desk. Carefully, she put it on Shin's desk and phased back out.
Hopefully, she wasn't invading any privacy. Techinically the lights were kept off and she didn't touch anything, just put some papers down. Though she wouldn't appreciate it much if Shin just walked into her room and put something down. Well, really, it didn't bother her if he didn't take anything out and didn't see anything she didn't want anyone to see. Actually, she didn't have anything to hide, not these days, she really was shaping up. "So what do you say to that tour?" she asked, walking away from Shin's office.

Before mother or daughter could say anything is response to Jenny about the tour, the woman took the papers and took them into another room. Through the door. Without using the door. As in, literally walking through the door. Their mouths dropped open at the same time, staring at the door where the woman had passed through. But where Elizabeth’s mouth had a smile on it, amazed by what she saw, Amanda’s mouth had a little grimace to it, creeped out by what she saw. The sooner Amanda Sundance was out of there, and the less powers she saw, the better.
Then Jenny walked back through the door, again not even opening it. Amanda quickly closed her mouth and put on a forced smile. Liz turned her shock into a genuine smile. It was incredible, Jenny’s power. Although she really hoped that nobody else at the place could do that, because then she’d get so paranoid that someone would walk in on her everywhere. Jenny reminded her of a ghost or something, just walking through stuff as if they weren’t there.
“We would be delighted to have a tour,” her mother said, recovering quickly and layering on the politeness, almost to a point that made Liz sick. Even though Liz knew her mother wouldn’t like a tour, she knew it would make her mother feel better, knowing exactly what was where and what kinds of things Liz would experience. The two Sundances picked up Elizabeth’s stuff and followed the woman off into the rest of the mansion.
There it was. Fade was sure with the flying student, maybe this parent would be a little less inclined to judge mutants, but the expression on Mrs. Sundance's face when Fade exited the office was definitely one of familiarity. Still, the mother changed her face to that of endurance, she would continue with this, but it seemed maybe an in depth tour, with all the mutants around might not be such a grande idea. If only they had one week out of the summer for tours where parents got to see the Mansion and only the Mansion, this would go so much easier, however, with the students being mutants, it was more of a tour on a rich circus ground. You had the large back yard with a flying boy, a lovely foyer with a phasing mutant, who knew what the kitchen would have in store for them. Hopefully just the innocent little Millie or one of the other kids.
Elizabeth's expression was much different, she seemed amazed by it, but most people were only excited until they remembered that means she can do it to them as well. Some first impression, huh? Still, she was getting better at it, at least they didn't see her climb down the Mansion. Any other power of her's would have to be saved until Mrs. Sundance left, it wasn't like she could turn her claws visible now and there was no way in hell she'd climb anything or turn invisible. No, best she just continued to tour as if she were human. Mrs. Sundance's voice changed back to how it was, if not a bit more sugar coated than before. At least she's trying, Fade mentally shrugged.
Time to start the tour. "In the next room we have the formal dinning room, though hardly any eats here," she was about to add the part about how some people would eat there if they were taking another student on a date, which would probably cheer up Elizabeth, but mentioning inter-home dating to the mother may just have to wait for a different opportunity. "And here we have the kitchen, which is where most people tend to eat their food. While we do have a few residents here that are 21 and older, this is an alcohol free school so there is no beer, wine, or liquor located in this room and it's not tolerated at the school," Fade made her point. Actually, Fade was 21, but she kept her alcohol in her room under the floorboards, which was actually not capable of being taken since in order to get to the alcohol, you had to phase your hand through the wood and phase the bottle back out, rather secure.
"That door to the right goes to the living room where we have our large Flat Screen and most people come down here to watch programs or the news. Since this tv is accessible to everyone at the Mansion, it's under parental control so no one plays anything on this screen that is not suitable for all ages, typically, the news is playing or some sort of Historic or Animal Planet show is on. Early in the mornings, we sometimes put on cartoons for the younger students." She stopped herself from continuing on. They got it, no porn or R rated movies can be shown on this tv, you don't have to give them details on everything that shows on the screen, move on, she mentally slapped herself. She paused to see if they had any questions thus far.
