The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kassi opened the door to the Coffee House, and smiled softly at the gentle ding of the bell. Inhaling deeply, she took in the mixed scents of the various coffees, cocas, and other beverages the place served, as well as mixed bread smells from the rolls and cookies also served. Kassi headed to the counter, and placed her order. When the large, steaming cup arrived, Kassi payed, and headed for an empty table, set somewhat off to the side, but still with a decent view out the window. Sitting, and sipping slowly, Kassi watched the city go about its life.
There was nothing quite like a delicious cup of coffee to make an all ready great day even better. Of course, Juka no longer needed to drink nor did he need caffeine to keep him awake, as his bubble tended to take care of both of those little inconveniences, but that hadn't done anything to reduce his love of coffee. It was right up there with chocolate and cheese cake as far as he was concerned.
The day was beautiful and sunny and Juka had spent much of the morning window shopping, going from second hand store to second hand store looking for those rare gems that he might be able to make even better for his own uses. He hadn't actually found much worth buying, but simply looking was most of the fun anyway. Now that it was starting to get a little later in the afternoon, he decided that a coffee would be the perfect way to end a close to perfect day.
Juka was wearing a long blue and green dress with black ribbons in his hair and received a few curious glances as he walked into the front door of the coffee shop. Completely used to them (in fact he'd be more surprised if not a single person glanced at him), he paid no attention and walked up to the counter. A couple of minutes later, coffee in hand, he walked over to a spare table with a good view of the window. Sitting down, he smiled at the brown haired woman sitting in the table next to him.
"Just to repeat that," the Goth barista behind the counter eyed the woman ahead of Lenna. "You want one small cup of coffee, black like your soul, a single glazed donut, and a receipt."
The middle-aged petit blond woman nodded. "Yes, thank you."
"Okay," The barista shrugged. She got the woman's order ready, rung her up, and moved on to the next, far-better-dressed, customer. Coffee-brown ankle-length skirts, jean jacket, black turtleneck sweater underneath? The woman had taste.
Lenna placed her order. One cappuccino. That was it.
As she slid into her table a minute and a half later, she spared a glance towards the other people in the coffee shop. There was a brownhaired woman, a man with a coarse beard, round face, and even-rounder glasses, and a... what did one even call that? Lenna smiled at it. She/he seemed friendly enough, spare the makeup and the long red hair. Look, the person was even smiling!
Lenna sipped her cappuccino, and didn't comment.
"Nice ribbons."
Okay. Maybe a little comment wouldn't hurt. Besides, they were a pretty shade of... black.
Kassi looked up from her coffee as someone joined her at her table. She opened her mouth, about to comment, then realised exactly what she was seeing. Pausing for a moment, Kassi decided this person obviously didn't care, and made the comment anyways.
"I like your dress. It's very pretty."
Kassi didn't mind sharing her table with any number of people. She was very extroverted, and more than willing to be friendly to just about everyone she met. When another person joined them at the table, and made a comment about Juka's ribbons, Kassi smiled gently, looking down, then much broader, and nodded to the newest arrival. It looked like today was going to be a good day.
Coffee really was a wondrous thing and Juka took a heaven-filled sip of his delicious brew. How did those poor mutants who were to be forever denied the glorious heavenly coffee drinks even survive? Oh, how dull and grey their poor worlds must be.
"Nice ribbons."
Juka grinned at the woman complimenting him who, whole not nearly as colourful as he was (but then again few were) was nevertheless sharply dressed. And he could appreciate sharply dressed. "Why thank you, my dear. I'm so glad to see someone around with a discerning eye." He smiled his best grin at the stranger.
Then, rather unexpectedly in a place like this, the other woman near him complimented him too, this time on his dress. Well, two darling women with eyes for fashion, would wonders never cease! "You are simply too kind," Juka assured her.
Lenna took another thoughtful sip of her cappuccino as he took the compliments like a man who took to nice things proudly. It actually was a nice dress, she noticed, though it might have looked a bit more in place on a woman. ... Unless the fabulous redhead was a woman? The jury was still out.
"What's the designer," She asked casually. "I don't know much about fashion, but it does look good."
