The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“You are always welcome here,” he told Verdigris with a warm smile, “Even if you just want to pop round for a quick chat. My door is always open.” It felt good to be able to say that with no ulterior motive. He truly would be there for her just to be there for here. No secret plans to exploit her for his own ends.
Hunter’s smile shifted slightly from warm to knowing as he answered her question by saying, “You already have. More than you know.” Just being able to help someone instead of hurt them was a welcomed change. So far his return to New York had been good. He was starting a new chapter of his life. However he didn’t dare to imagine that his past would not catch up with him sooner or later.

His welcome did not go unrecognised, or unappreciated. She felt a glow of happiness tinged with something like longing. If only there had been this friendly man to help her when she first came to New York. But perhaps it was better this way, her character had been built and smashed and re-built over and over to create the person she now was.
Yes. It was better this way.
She inwardly resolved to take him up on his offer for a chat, and to bring cookies if she remembered to make them. She was sure she had seen ingredients in some of the cupboards in the mansion on one of her early quests for a cup. Who knew how things would turn out, she was almost eager to test the brain overload-silencing, and while a good dose of nerves still thrilled within she now had the tools to take care of herself and someone to turn to if it all fell through.
“I hope everything turns out right for you.”
People could be unforgiving creatures, and while she hadn’t asked about the offence the stories surrounding what he was were enough to suggest it may have been more than an average misdemeanour. It was probably best if she didn’t know, and still saw him as the friendly man who drank strange tea. She placed the cup-bowl down gently and stood, wriggling her toes to encourage the blood to flow freely through them again.
As do I. Hunter added mentally to Verdigirs’s words. It would be sometime now before they saw answers either way but he felt that he was on the right path. He rose with her in one fluid motion and stretched not unlike a cat uncurling from a nap. While their conversation had been intellectually stimulating his body was now itching for some action as well. Once He’d seen Verdigris out it would be time for a workout.
“Happy to help,” Hunter said with a smile as he walked with her to the door. Unlike some of his other clients Verdigris seemed to be more together. She was just a little unbalanced in one aspect of her life. It was nice to have a chance to make a first impression sincerely as a kind person than as a manipulative monster.

The blood rushed through her legs and after a moment’s pause she was able to walk properly, with only an uncomfortable tingle in her toes as that fluid, so linked with the myths about the man before her, made its way through her digits. Somehow the stretch seemed to cement in her mind that Hunter was just as human as she (rampant X-gene included) and she was glad she had taken the risk to come.
Making sure she still had the brochure tucked in her pocket, it wouldn’t do to be without it and need another appointment, especially if something went wrong with Slate. Reassured and pleased with the afternoon’s outcome she smiled at Hunter. It was nice to meet friendly people.
“See you next time.”
A little wave to both Hunter and the receptionist and she was on her way. Dusk was falling on the streets, and it was always nicer to arrive in the Mansion before the younger mutant’s curfew. It simply made manoeuvring the corridors that much easier. Plus if she knocked something over, or her door slammed by accident, she wouldn’t be disrupting them.
