The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kealey nodded her head when Juka pointed out that in the end people probably appreciated her efforts to help them . ”I think they do…though I’m sure it only encourages me to further bad habits.” she commented, a slightly sheepish grin spreading across her features.
The man giggled and Kealey found the little laugh contagious. Juka, she decided, was one of those infallible likable people. People probably judged him a little harshly because of his appearance because it was so very flamboyant, but it was also fabulous and the more Kealey talked to him she realized it was very….him.
Her head tilted to the side as Juka explained how it was that he didn’t have to sleep. It was an absolutely fascinating side effect of his power. ”Well, it sounds like you’re very well adjusted to the fact. That’s a great deal of time to yourself, though. I can see why you’d be interested in learning something like chess. I don’t know what I’d do with all that extra time.”
He’d mentioned “his bubble” several times and Kealey wondered if it was considered rude to ask about such things. There was only one way to find out, ”You mentioned…your bubble? What exactly did you mean by that?”
"Bad habits, or good habits?" Juka asked, returning the sheepish grin. Personally he thought it was lovely what she was doing. Anyone that wanted to help others and actually took the steps needed to do it, even if it didn't always work out, was good in his books.
"Trust me, boredom is the biggest problem I have now days," Juka replied with a grimace. "I try to keep busy but there's only so much one can do in a day. Thus the chess. Thus the failed chess." Even with all his spare time it seemed he just wasn't cut out to be a chess player. "I'm thinking maybe a trip to some exotic land might be more up my alley, what do you think?"
"Do you want to see?" Juka asked, always enthusiastic to show off his power. Without even waiting for a reply he upped his bubble, bowing elaborately at Kealey. "If you want to come outside I can give you a true demonstration, my dear, complete with a free ride if you should so desire."

Boredom was the biggest problem Juka had. Kealey almost sighed…what would it be like to live a life so simply that your biggest problem was finding things to stave off boredom? Maybe, Kealey though, just maybe she tried a little too hard sometimes. Would it really hurt the world if she simply didn’t give into the desire to poke her nose in where she knew it didn’t belong? It was something that definitely deserved further thought.
Juka suggested that maybe chess wasn’t the thing for him and Kealey had to agree. Chess seemed far too boring for this colorful character to waste time on. No, there were far more interesting things he could be doing…like traveling to exotic lands.
”Oh yes…that’s far more exciting than silly chess….” Kealey said, ”Somewhere they can really appreciate your delightful fashion sense.” Kealey didn’t know where that would be…but it had to exist.
He offered to demonstrate his powers, and Kealey watched attentively, shocked when a visible bubble appeared around the flamboyantly dressed man. ”Oh wow!” Kealey exclaimed, her eyes widening as he offered to demonstrate further if she’d only go outside.
Kealey thought on it for a moment, then looked back at the TV and frowned, ”I think I’m going to have to take a rain check on the further demonstration…but I definitely want to see sometime!”
"Exactly," Juka nodded happily. So few people understood all that went into looking as constantly fabulous as he did and equally few people really appreciated him for it. But Kealey honestly seemed to get it and for that she was wonderful. He beamed at her.
"Well, you know the invitation is always open to you, my dear." Juka was a little disappointed that she didn't want to take a ride but it was her loss really. Besides, he could understand since she was obviously still distressed about the poor burning library.
"What can I do to cheer you up?" Juka asked. "Do you need a cookie?" He hated to see anyone unhappy, especially someone as lovely as Kealey. Good people like her didn't deserve to have sorrow in their lives and he wanted to do everything he could to try and get rid of it, or at least to make her forget about it for a little while. Because that's what friends did for each other.

Juka was pleased with her compliment on his clothing. Happy Juka meant happy Kealey and she beamed right back. The melancholy was right below the surface though, and as soon as Juka’s emotions dulled in the slightest, the little rain cloud went back to work over Kealey’s head. The offeer for a ride still stood, though. Kealey summoned a smile for Juka, ”Thanks Juka. I’ll definitely take you up on it. Just…not today.”
He wanted to know what he could do to cheer her up and Kealey continued to smile at the sincerity in his voice. He really did want to help. ”It’s not really something that anyone can help with Juka. I’m just in a bit of a funk. I really do appreciate the offer though.” What she said was true, even if it probably wasn’t what Juka wanted to hear. Sometimes a person simply needed to brood. This was one of those times, the emotional impact of the last few days was still sinking in and Kealey needed to think it through.
Maybe, just maybe though, she’d made a new friend.
Apparently Juka just had to accept that fact that there was nothing he could do for Kealey just at the moment. Well, he certainly had his own moments of depression, especially lately, so he supposed to couldunderstand that even if his acceptance was somewhat on the reluctant side.
"If you ever need to brood to someone, I've been told I'm a good ear," he suggested, not quite willing to give up everything. Even if he couldn't help by actually doing something, the mere fact of talking sometimes tended to be theraputic.
"That, and you should come see my band and I perform. We're playing again in a couple of weeks and you, my darling, are formally invited." Nothing like a live show to distract from brooding thoughts.
