The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sometimes our dear cowbug Roach just liked to go roaming with his pals. Out on the open plains of central park, life was tough, but rewarding. The giant Roach chewed thoughtfully on someone's pet dog as his Roaches gathered about him, making a chorus of chitter-chatters that were like music to his ears.
The Roach eyed the missing dog poster for the very dog he was snacking on, and most courteously wrote in sharpie on the poster, "Found, Was tasty." He spoke the words cheerfully as he wrote them. The cowboy then pulled off his Cowboy hat, and placed it against his chest, speaking in a spaghetti western accent. "A good dog is hard to come by, and boy was this dog good... He will be missed... But I'm sure I'll find another to eat later." He finished his meal, and threw the rest to his little friends, feeling Frankie scurry up his body and onto his shoulder. "I tell ya, Frankie-boy, this is the life." He placed the cowboy had back on his head, and looked about with his equivalent of a mischievous grin. "I've just got to thinking, partner... What is it that cowboys do best?"a Chitter-chitter came in response. "No! Cowboys have nothing to do with cows! Cowboys ride horses and duel people to the death!" His eyes darted about the open area before him... The park was rather empty, mostly because everyone was avoiding him...
He started walking again, feeling his flock of Roaches skitter up his body and into the safety of his shell. "Someone to duel.... someone to duel..."
Petunia Gardener excitedly buzzed as she made a wide swoop as a house fly to zoom in and circle the feast that had been taking place. There had been a warm enough snap it the weather as of late, that Pix could buzz around as a house fly and do some of her favorite exploring. She'd first been attracted to the scene by the smell of the dog. The family pet was currently being put to good use by, with who, with any luck, would become Petunia Gardener's newest pet. She needed a new one.
The house fly that was pix circled around the scene again before she ducked behind the giant new pet, and what scurried out from behind his opposite side that the house fly disappeared around was another Cockroach. A Madagascar Hissing Cockroach to be exact. Petunia was much smaller than some of the roaches that were gathered to the scene, but no one was trying to eat each other and she thought nothing of this being that she often chose to control bugs that were much bigger than the bugs that she chose to be. They may not be her creations, but She was the insect Goddess.
Petunia's little body scurried over the dog. Finding the best choice of meat inside it where she listened to the giant one go on in a cowboy accent. How cool was that. Not only did her new pet already know how to speak. He could preform the trick in a cowboy accent! Petunia's little Madagascar body vibrated into a hiss of excitement. She liked this form. She could make sound without stopping her meal.
Soon, the big guy was moving on, as was his flock of loveliness. Petunia scurried after them as fast as her shorter legs could carry her. only instead of following the rest of the flock, she climbed the outside of the back of his shell. It was there that she just stared at the other little guy (Little in comparison to the big guy) who had taken residence on the shoulder. (If cockroaches had shoulders.) He could talk! sort of.
Ok so Pix didn't understand a thing that was coming out of his mouth, her power didn't require communication. It required mind control. But could she mind control a cockroach to communicate with big guy? Petunia had to find out!
One forleg waved slowly in front of Petunia. More for looks than anything else. Pix saw it in the movies. Jedi Buggy. Level wave. There is no other cockroach on the outside of this one.. Level Wave. You will tell the big one to jump three times on one foot. Petunia thought with all her might.
Mr. Samson looked around excitedly for someone to duel, but everywhere he walked, people were edging away and even running. How rude! He had half a mind to eat off all of their faces! Mmm.. Face. So chewy, yet so firm and yielding. "Someone to duel... Someone to duel." He didn't sound as enthused as he did before... Could it be that there was truly no one for this cowboy to face off with?!
"Someone to-" Clickity click click, "Pardon?" Click chippity "A what?" chipptiy clack clack. "oh dear... strange. Where was it, now?" Clack clack. "Well, I have nothing better to do." The giant cockroach shrugged, and lifted a foot, and hopped three times. He then stood, and looked over to Frankie again, and started clicking and popping at him. The little guy responded in the same tongue, and the Gregory nodded, reaching back to try and gently grasp the hissing cockroach on his back and pull it around so that he held it in his hand in front of his face to talk to it. He didn't mean any harm in the action, but Frankie had just explained the oddest thing, and he was looking for some answers. "Hold still then, partner. You and I gotta have some words."

Petunia was elated and she scurried in a tight fact circle releasing some of her excitement. Ok so not all she had to do was describe the chicken dance and.... Petunia probably should have been paying better attention to the fact that the big bug continued to talk to the little...er bug on his shoulder.
All of a sudden Petunia practically scurried into a buggy hand. She hissed in surprice and her little body wiggled legs kicking at nothing but air. this was not goddess like. Not goddess like at all. Put me down. Petunia thought and aimed the demands at the bigger bug. The thing is he was mutant. So this probably did not go well. She quickly shifted her thoughts over to the smaller one. The one that was one big fat tattle tail. 'Tell him to put me down. I'm the master of you! kick kick hisssss struggle. This is not masterly! Put me down or else...... You will all be sorry' Petunia did her best to feed these thoughts into the tattle tail bugger.
No reason to let on that Petunia could actually talk English. Even when she was in a bug form. At least not yet.
Our experienced and worldly protagonist, Mr. Samson had seen many things in his long and queer life, yet never had he seen something quite so odd. It seemed that this little bug had a will about her, similar to his own creations, but with something... more...
He felt her will upon himself; a nagging that he was sure any normal bug could not resist, and shrugged it off easily, tilting his head... Frankie did the same when she tried to force it on him, and clicked franticly in Gregory's ear. "Masterly, she says? How odd." He turned to the little bug. "I am afraid, little friend, that I have no master as of this time, and I intend not to have one at all before my time is up." He looked down at the hissing cockroach, and thought for a moment... He didn't see many roaches of this kind around here; he wondered briefly what she would taste like if he ate her. He found her too interesting to do that, though. The giant cockroach complied with her request, setting the little one down on a park bench.
"You are an odd one... I like odd, though. I tend to eat things that are too normal for my intellectual tastes, as they tend to be quite appeasing to my physical tastes." He nodded slowly, and sat at the bench, eying her. "What to do with you, though.... What to do..." He could throw her at something rather fast... No, that would only provide minimal amusement... Perhaps they could chat for a bit, then?

Petunia turned as soon as she was on the park bench, while the larger roach continued talking, Petunia climbed to the top of the benches back rest. It may not take her to the height of being eye to eye level, but it was better than the extreme angle she had from the seat.
"You are an odd one... I like odd, though. I tend to eat things that are too normal for my intellectual tastes, as they tend to be quite appeasing to my physical tastes."
'The norms over rate their poor ideas of cannibalism.' Petunia sent the thought to the other cockroach that had apparently carried the conversation with the big one. Willing him to say something like before even though she didn't actually have control of him. communicating with him the way she simply willed her other bugs seemed to work just fine.
"What to do with you, though.... What to do..."
'I could give you a ride. I will give you a ride.' The hissing cockroach nodded at her idea. I shall give you a ride and at the same time ride you.'[/i] petunia's shell looked as though it were rippling, then the sections of her shell shifted, and she began to multiply as bugs crawled and wiggled free from her small body. The process was slow at first. The bugs became a mound large enough for Pix to shift to her human form and still hide in the center of it. Her human form was able to multiply the bugs faster and so larger beatles joined the smaller ones that had come from the roach form. More skin surface for the bugs to come from made the rate of the growing mound multiply. 'Tell me. Have you ever surfed? Would you like to learn how?'
Mr. Samson tilted his head in to listen to Frankie as the little roach chittered away in his ear. He nodded slowly, looking down to the bug once more. "It would be rather rude of me to eat you, wouldn't it? I would probably feel pretty bad about it afterward. That wouldn't stop me from eating you, mind you... regret is only ever felt after the fact." He nodded again, and then paused as the little beings shell began to ripple.
He stepped back a little, his antennae twitching about erratically in interest, causing his cowboy hat to shuffle around on his head. The giant insect then saw something that piqued his interest. The single bug before him became two, and then more, until she was a great mass of insects. Mr. Samson couldn't help but clap at the tick. "Weeeeew~ee That's a good trick right there!" Keeping up with the cowboy theme, his little arms mimicked shooting guns up in the air.
Frankie then began speaking to him once more... He clicked back a few times, and then clacked his mandibles a few times. "Oh, me? Surf? I could never! but.... "He got a devious tone in his voice as he rubbed his hands together, and turned to look at an unsuspecting dog watcher. "Could you.... surf him into a tree?"
