The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sitting and listening was something Ruby found she was good at, something she was used to doing with her troubled family members. Shifting in Jewels grasp a little, she streched her back, similarly to a way a cat would as she settled on the girls lap. She curled up in a tiny content ball, laying her head on her tail as she listened. A pondering look crept across the tiny foxes face, thinking about how she herself didnt expect the cruelty of the camps to be so bad.
"No one really expects to go through anything like that Miss Jewel." Ruby told her, her ears fully perked up to show that she was still listening to her friend. "Its really scary to think that only a few days ago that you were completely normal and just sort of one of the crowd and then the next you are isolated and treated like dirt." Ruby sighed a little but then she perked up a little bit. "But thats why you joined the x men right? To stop bad things from happening ever again."
Lily chuckled a bit, petting the fox on the back. "Yes, that is why I joined. I guess I just didn't expect to go from trainee to... a real mission, this fast. It's like I had to grow up from one day to the next, really. Do things for myself. Plan, and work, and all those things." she sighed "And I didn't even know if I wa good at it, only after I tried." She sratched one big foxy ear. "But believe me, if there is a way to stop things like that happening ever again... I am going to be working on it."
Ruby leaned into the hand that was petting her, feeling rather content with being pet by Miss Jewel. She acted similar to a happy puppy or perhaps a content kitten as she nuzzled the hand a little. Listening to Jewel talk about how she didn't want that to happen again, making Ruby Fondly think of her older sister. The connection between the Lupin sisters, was strong so Ruby couldnt help but often think of her big sister Emmy when she heard of heroic deeds.
"My big sister Emerald said the same thing after we got out of the labs." Rubys paws suddently shot up to her mouth in a rather comical looking way but the surprise at what she said was apparant. She then relaxed her paws, acting as if nothing had been said. "I mean the camps! Anyways...did anything really bad happen while you were in the camps Miss Jewel because you can talk to me about it, i wont tell!"
Labs?... "No, not really." Lily shook her head "Well, I mean, nothing worse than living in a camp for a month... it was... really bad." she sighed "I have... seen things I couldn't even imagine would happen in reality. But... no. As for me personally, I... got away unhurt." Physically, at least. Lily wondered how much she should tell the fox girl. Difficult past or not, she was still a kid, and in her opinion, kids didn't have to hear about things like that, if it could be avoided. "Many of my friends were hurt. Some of them really bad." she sighed, scratching the fox ears "The worst part is: we know it still could have been worse..."
The little fox girl was relieved to say the least that Lilly didn't notice her slip up. Her big sister would be mad if she revealed too much of their past to someone. Though...she had never really told anyone before, maybe it was time they both started opening up more so they would both feel better about it. This was neither here nor there, as Ruby listened to Miss Jewel and she was wondering how much she wasn't telling her. It was understandable though, not a lot of people wanted to talk about those sort of things, especially after being in a place that caused so much suffering of her friends.
"It could have been, but it wasn't. I'm glad things weren't worse for you Miss Jewel." Ruby told Jewel simply, nuzzling the older girls hand with a small sigh.
