The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mathematics. That was something Lee didn't quite understand. Well, she understood basic math, and she understood how it was needed to do a lot of other things, but she didn't really understand why you would study math just to study math.
"That's part of why I haven't gone back yet," Lee replied as she finished up pouring the jello into the cups. "I have no idea what I would take. I've thought of history, languages, nursing, though I don't like the reasons for that one..."

"History is interesting," Shin commented as he started moving the Jello cups to the refrigerator for cooling. "With history, you get a lot of practice doing research. It's good for if you ever wanted to get into a research-intensive field... or wanted to become a librarian." A passing thought struck him. Kealey was a librarian. It seemed like a quiet, relaxing job.
"I don't think I could ever handle nursing," Shin added. The fridge door closed as he made his way back to the jello field for arm-refilling. "Too much responsibility. I can handle saving the world, but saving lives like a doctor?" Shin shook his head. "They're the real heroes."
"That's the problem," Lee said with a slight shrug. "I don't know what I'd want to do in the future. Plus, with having the shop, I'm really not sure how well I'd do with one of those full time, every day jobs. I much prefer not having to go to work if we've had a bad night, or if the day looks like it's just going to be horrible."
Grabbing a couple of the jello cups, Lee started helping Shin move them into the fridge. "I don't think I could actually work as a nurse," Lee agreed with Shin that it would probably be too much. "But to be honest, I can't pretend that knowing some of that stuff wouldn't come in useful. I hate thinking about it like that, though."

"Not having to go to work on tough nights is great, but being able to. There's something good about having something to do with your life, other than avoid work, and stay in. That's the real reason I'm going to college," Shin stated. "My friends got me to thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. Having a job you can go to, and leave be is great. Having a career you actually enjoy, though?"
Shin nodded at Lee's revelation. "Nursing is tough. Maybe you could start out saving lives some other way. Paramedic? EMT? Still invaluable, but less pressure riding on their shoulders."
"And knowing first aid skills is really useful. I wish I knew a bit more..."
Shin moved more Jello to the refrigerator. They were nearly done with the Jello. After they got the last bits of green wibbly put away, they could relax.
