The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This was a plot on another site which seemed to work well, I was wondering if there had been (and thinking there should be) a musical-themed plot on MRO. My thinking was something along the lines of
a) A bug gets into the water which affects those with the x-gene (maybe those not as well for added bonuses for the NPCs, humans and adapteds J)
b) A NPC mutant who has a bard-like gift shows up (or a gift that projects musical-ness onto others )
Forcing those ‘affected’ to break into spontaneous emotion-fuelled singing (If you’ve ever seen ‘once more with feeling’ from Buffy, season six I think, you know what I’m talking about). Hilarity ensues as male characters burst into ‘whoops I did it again’ or songs from high school musical. This would be in the playful realm, much like the Freaky Friday plot with the option of becoming more serious as hidden feelings are revealed in full song-and-dance routines. Feedback peoples! I’m not sure how we could put spontaneous music in logically, but maybe you guys have some ideas. I highly recommend you-tube linkage within posts to really get a ‘feel’ for the sound of it if this gets off the ground.

That was such an epic episode of Buffy. It'd be highly amusing indeed to give a try in an MRO context. *Imagines all the bleeding ears from tone deaf singers*

XD That sounds hilarious...
Would you limit it to songs that already exist? That would be great... people having to sing a song that matches what they are trying to proviegh...
I think the NPC might do the trick... though what about a virus mutated by the X-gene that also happens to be highly contagious... once it takes hold it affects the parts of the brain centered on speach and memory, replacing normal communication with songs from memory.
Regardless of how it's set up, though, this would be fun XD.

I think to have the ability to hear it (through you-tube links etc) would greatly increase the fun, although I do think bits of songs could probably be altered, eg he>she, we/they, turning duets to solos etc etc etc.
For those with emotion-triggered mutations it could prove interesting as the emotion-fueled singing can induce the mutation to be activated.
An example from the site I 'borrowed' this idea off, the second post from "Matt Davidson" is the one you're looking for, sixth down in the posting, you can read the rest too if you like, most of it should make sense, if not PM me and I'll explain what I can (Can you guess which one is me? )
You should all say no you can't.. anyways yeah it worked all right but the site was a bit small to maintain the plot. Regardless we were all far too overpowered as characters anyway yeah I think the idea is cool.

Spoil sport, they can guess if they want to, and the plot was going pretty well until Sam moved *shakes fist*
This virus-water-npc-whatever, I think should be able to affect NPCs on the street and everything as well, so you get background stuff like this For the smaller, background singing I think it would be ok to improv and not put a you-tube link or anything. Something like. ~I've lost my teddy, I can't go back to beddy, Not without my teddyyyyyyy~ There's not going to be that on youtube (Maybe, I dunno) But for the mains I think it's a good idea to link the song so the feeling can be properly experienced.
~~EDIT~~ I'd also reccomend songs from musicals, they seem to have a lot more storyline in them But if another song seems to fit the bill, then thats great ^^

I feel like this is the kind of mini-plot that would work best if you just grabbed people and started RPing, a la the Cthulhu Christmas thread.
Which is to say: if you want to just start RPing it, go for it! Just make sure the effect area is relatively small--aka, the area affected by your charcters' thread(s), not the city/country/world at large. Then you can roam around merrily singing, but anyone who doesn't want to play can simply say they weren't in an affected area at the time. Enjoy! For myself, I might toss in Maxine, depending on how motivated I am when this actually starts...
(Which is to further say: plots that don't affect the entire site don't require Plot Mod approval--so feel free to always brainstorm up fun mini-plots, and run 'em!)
Achoo consider yourself infected. This is a musical bug that forces spontanious song and dance, fueled by emotion, so be sure to pick a topic that really makes you (IC) happy, sad, angry, you name it. Please leave links in the thread if your character may take a little longer to develop symptoms~ like in the middle of a family dinner~ Romantic date~ of if you're really boring, mid shower.~ Links to youtube versions of songs would be great, but if there aren't any don't freak out... this is a FUN plot remember. This bug affects mutants, humans and adapteds alike. Feel free to force NPCs into song on the street. It is contagious. HOWEVER: if you do not wish to participate in this plot feel free to not become infected. Some are simply born with immunity, or don't come into contact with anyone catching.
