The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He didn't know what was going on here, but--
Yoink! He'd snatch up any chance he could at escape. Shin ran out the door, and-- shoved it free of the wall, towards the gunners. Gently, of course. But hard. Like wood, or steel.
Red feet pounding pavement, he chased after his somewhat friend and the brunette.
This day, this day, this day... it did not make one lick of sense!
Someone was chasing him. ManLori glanced over her manshoulder and spotted the brunette that had gotten them into this mess in the first place. Oh. And he was still sopping wet. Sopping wet and running meant chaff-age. Guys weren't lying.
"Quit following me!" felt like a childish whine. And it was. A few blocks was not a safe enough distance. ManLori dodged down into the subway and parked it between two security cameras that were pointing down two different paths. The camera placement was easy to spot since that wall was the most defaced.
Predictably the brunette came tottering down the stairs. "What do you want?"
"What do you want?" She parroted the words right back at manLori.
"I want to get out of here."
"Me too."
"Go home." She might as well have man-told her to bite her own ear off for the look she gave him.
Abyss came frolicking down the steps next. Oh geeze. How did she end up man-collecting all these people? "Are you going back tonight, Byss?"
Go home. Go home? Noel frowned the frowniest frown she'd ever frowned. "There are men with guns there." Not that where she had been leading them was her home, but that was what she had tried to get them to think before. Subterfuge was a million times harder when direct lies were not involved.
Besides, Noel wasn't going to let that Red out of her si—oh crap. Where did he go? Big-red-not-Abyss came bumbling down after them. Sigh. Good. The man who thought he was a woman, Michael, didn't seem to understand that big red had not been lying back there. He really wasn't who Michael thought he was.

A proper jumble. That's what this was. Why he was still chasing these people, Big Red didn't know. Maybe, he felt connected to the guy who'd been with him before? Maybe that was it? Even though there was no real sense of connection or community. Even if he'd much rather be back at Full Circle with Kasumi. Maybe he just wanted to keep the dude out of trouble?
The word 'dude' did not deserve to come out of something as big and red as him.
He caught up to them, and doubled over, catching his breath. He looked up at the man's man. He looked to the woman who'd followed him. Man's man asked him a question.
>>"Are you going back tonight, Byss?"
A question he could only answer with "No."
Mainly because he didn't know where 'back' was, and more importantly, because he really didn't much feel like going back to back. He wanted to go home... to the mansion, where he'd be banned. Dang.
"Why are you still with us?" Shin said to the brunette.
So she had to find a place for all three of them? ManLori face palmed and then slipped right on down around the corner.
"Stay here." She man-cautioned to stay in a tone that didn't give any wiggle room.
Her manbrain buzzed. if she was going to find a place for all three of them that meant she had to man-find someone that lived alone. Someone that lived alone, but wasn't going home. Being the opposite gender was really throwing off her game. ManLori sat on a metal bench, still dripping and put his head between his hands to think.
"Oh dear." The clucking of a tongue echoed around the subway drawing a few brief looks from others.
Michael's face turned upward slowly to regard what had to be a lonely divorcée. No one else would have the money for those earrings or those shoes and no one else in their right mind would have the gall. Plus, the look on her face... more hungry than disapproving despite her tone.
"Been locked out." The words were awkward, but then... when guys were feeling ashamed or out of sorts they often sounded as out of place as ManLori did.
"All soaking wet like that? What happened, dear?" She didn't take a seat next to him. No, she might have gotten those gucci shorts wet, but she did put her hand on Lori's manshoulder.
Lori... was officially getting hit on by a cougar.
