The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Probably, he said. Probably. Geez this guy was yanking his chain today! ManLori squirted him with a hand-water gun (after she got it figured out with her manhands). And she squirted the maître d’ and the bouncer and the security guys. She ducked under the water and felt her manhair float up around her manhead. It was just about time to start a proper man fight. And with Abyss by her manside. It would be a short yet satisfying brawl.
Frog kick. Scissor kick. Whirly-twirly mermaid kick. Alright. The wrinkly fingers said it was time to get kicked out of a hotel properly.
Squirt, squirt.
"Outta the pool Little Mermaid, Sebastian."
ManLori laughed the loudest of all of them as she man paddled with the largest splashes she could man-age. "Ooooh. That is funny. Right? 'Cause the crab is red. And this guy is red. Right?"
They were a little confused. She was supposed to be upset.
She was. A little. "Little do you know that my little Titianly pigmented friend is, in fact not a native ocean dweller. He's fresh outta hell and ready to bash in some skulls. C'mon. Show 'em Byss." ManLori slapped Abyss' arm (In a manly playful way. Not girly at all). That was his cue.
---
ManLori had never, ever been thrown out on her you-know-what before. She'd certainly never been tossed out (roughly) while slopping wet. It was actually kind of fun. The wet part. Not the tossed out part.
"WHAT? Are you a vegetarian now too?" Since when did Abyss pull punches from people who deserved them? ManLori slipped and slid but got to her feet eventually. It was flipping COLD out on the street out of the sun. Too cold to be wet.
"Thanks a lot." Was not a thank you. It was more of a this is your fault dressed up in a thanks-but-not-really suit.

One triple-linked set of ellipses later, Shin dutifully let them escort him out of the hotel. He hadn't done much further to aid the brown-haired man in causing trouble at poolside, but he'd neglected to gather his tank top and pants on exit. It was about solidarity, folks. The little things that counted. Like how he hadn't slugged the guy for squirting him, or rolled his eyes too much about the inevitable exit. And how, apparently he was vegan now.
"Vegetarian?" Shin growled in a deep voice that wasn't his. Not that he'd meant to growl it. He shook his head, and swept a hand across his arm to whip off some of the water. "All I know is that I'm wet, and that was far less entertaining than you'd wanted me to believe. So where to next, Friend." Had that come off grumpy?
He was a beacon. He was a mountain to climb, an ocean to swim, a dangerous mutant to tag. He was a promotion. So far, all of the brothers red had eluded RUPERT. How? Because any RUPs that came close went splat.
Noel was different. At least she liked to think so. She had a much more approachable demeanor. She hesitantly approached the giant red and wet man. He was much larger in life than in the photos.
Gulp.
"I couldn't help but overhear, but... can I help you? I have an apartment not far from here and it's really very cold." She could probably count the goose bumps on his rock-hard muscles. "I-uh. I'm like you." Noel looked up and up until she met his big red eyes and gave a little shake of her own pupils.
Forget that you were angry. Forget why you were angry.
What now? What NOW? He still wanted to hang out after pulling crap like that? If so, he'd better get his act together. Quick.
Lori's initial reaction to the woman approaching Abyss was negative. A sort of 'That's mine. Get off, b***.' That was her gut response. That was her woman response. Her man response was much less negative and much more positive. She wasn't too old. She was of good height, good bone structure, nice enough to offer to take them to her place... if she wasn't a rapist or a psycho it could actually work out.
And what woman would try to lure two dangerous, unsuspecting men into her web of lies?
Besides her womanself.
ManLori was suspicious. But the nice lady showed some wiggly eyes to Abyss. Wait. What did she just do? "What did you just do to him?" ManLori took a step forward ready to defend his brother in arms. It didn't matter if she was a woman and she was a manLori. She would punch miss 'hi i'm nice' into next week if she'd messed up her pal.

“Uh…” Was… he angry? Maybe he’d been grumpy, but not angry. A little ticked off, perhaps? Okay, close enough. He’d been a bit peeved. That went away. Now, he wasn’t. So, what was he? What did that leave…?
… Annoyance?
Shin broke eye contact, and looked to the mancompany he was with. “What did she just say? I’m confused.”
He turned his big red frame, and looked at the dark-haired woman curiously. "What did you say your name was?"
Noel gave the brown-haired man a blank stare. She had manipulated big red's memories. "I showed him my ability." Which was true. Noel looked into the eyes of this more aggressive of the two.
Forget why you were worried.
"See?"
So now neither would be angry. Excellent. No more public scene or shouting.
"Noel." She wasn't sure who's hand to shake first, if any. Noel went to shake big red's hand. Physical mutations did not often have too many hidden attributes to harm her by touch.
Noel never minded sharing her name. They wouldn't remember if all went according to plan. The brain pistons fired full speed. Could she lure them to RUPERT HQ without them realizing? Would it be too much a risk for her to really bring them home? Did she have a tag at home? Two tags at home? Feisty was likely to get feistier when push came to shove.
She decided that backup would be better. Two on one in her own home didn't sound like the safest idea. To RUPERT. And hoping they wouldn't demolish too much once they were there.
"It's freaking cold out here. Just looking at you guys is giving me chills." For totally unrelated reasons. A red one. A red one. A big fat Christmas bonus in July~
Abyss' answer? "Said she's a mutant." ManLori advanced a step, ready to deck her just because she was suspicious trouble. He could feel it in his woman's intuition.
And then he got his own brain-expunging session.
ManLori blinked. And then blinked again, but harder. He had been doing something. His body was sort-of geared up for a fight, but... there was no fight to be seen. Just this lady, Noel, shaking Abyss' hand. Her manshoulders slumped and all the fighted drained out when the confusion set in. He scratched his noggin.
"What kind of mutant are you?" But she was already walking away. Hey!
He jogged to catch up and get his own hand shake. Couldn't let a pretty girl get away without testing her mancharm, now could (s)he? "I'm Michael. He's Abyss." It was a nice firm handshake, but they didn't stop walking so ManLori couldn't let it linger without awkwardness. All business, this one.
If ManLori had been more sure about his mutation, she would have manexplained it. As it was, he had very little to brag about. And he suddenly felt the need to brag. "I bet I could bench press you." Smooth, ManLori. Smooth.

Noel? And mutant? Offering him a warm place, and possibly pants? Had Christmas come early? Shinbyss didn't know what was going on here, but it was better than worrying about whatever he'd been worrying about earlier, and freezing his red cheeks, blue.
Shin followed after her. So did the other guy. Shin did his best to keep ahead of him, so he didn't fall behind the fall-behind guy. "Hope you can find me some better clothes..." He muttered, catching up to her. Shin looked at Noel, as he walked by her side.
His eyes swung to the guy, who had now given him the name 'Michael, at his last comment. Bench press? Really? Shin supposed he could probably bench press more, himself, but he didn't really see the point of bragging about it. Still. "Whoa." He feigned interest. He guessed the guy's mutation had to do with strength. Good to know.
Bench press her? An eyebrow inclined, but she kept the course toward her RUPERT cell. "I think we can rustle something up for you." Noel smiled to the big, red one. That big, red bonus check of hers. She was much more apt to like him who was worth something.
Noel repeated their names under her breath in a pattern to match her stride. "Michael. Abyss. Michael. Abyss." Why did they always have such retarded names? Michael was generic as scotch tape and Abyss was obscure enough to not mean anything to Noel. Except, of course, that it was a very boring movie. The Abyss. Why couldn't she forget that instead of something useful? Oh. Right. Because it wouldn't be very useful for someone else to forget that.
Tah-dah! The RUPERT building stood proud before them a mere shuffle of steps away. Noel smiled, maybe a bit forced, toward Michael. It was better to keep their attention while she lured them further into the trap. "Maybe you could show me? After you shower or..." Yeah, she couldn't even finish that thought. Noel wasn't going to let the big red guy out of her sight.
Noel heaved the door open to a generic looking front desk. The secretary, a young Armenian, stood as if to say something. "Uhm. Benikan..."
But it was too late. One of the suits walking in from another wing had his walkie-talkie out. "We've got a code red. Hostiles in the building. Repeat. Code red."
It took a second to realize what was actually happening here. The mass of bodies in the room tripled in an amazingly short amount of time. These people were organized. And Abyss and Michael had been stabbed in the back. "You b*tch." ManLori didn't have enough time to get back out the door, but he did have enough time to aim for the throat.
Her manhand tightened around Noel's esophagus, but she was manpissed. She kept pushing until Noel was forced back and into a brick wall Abyss.
There was an unmistakeable sound of the safety being clicked off of several guns. Noel looked afraid. Good.

Clothes would be good. Clothes, he could handle. If she was even giving them clothes at all, that was. Shin didn’t suspect a thing.
Of course, the way the woman repeated names was a little suspicious. Michael, Abyss, Michael, Abyss, as if there was some further meaning to it than just a name. Shin shirked the thought as they approached a big building. He looked up.
“Hrm…” It didn’t seem very ‘apartment-like’. The secretary at the front desk was plain enough, but the whole thing… just felt odd. Then, people with walkie talkies approached them, all official-like. Shin blinked.
Michael said something uncouth.
Shin looked at him. “Hey. Language!” He reprimanded. The thought was cut short as Michael choked the woman straight into his chest, and lots of people got trigger-happy. Shin raised both arms. “Um. Shoot?”
This situation certainly had taken a turn for the lame. And here, he’d done so well escaping guns earlier that morning… how unfair.
"We would have let you gee" The increased pressure cut the woman off from speaking. Lori's eyes were drilling holes into the brunette's head through her eyes. Kill her. She was going to mankill her right here. In front of all of them.
And then… Lori dropped her manhand and looked around.
Why couldn't she belong here? And why did she feel so… slammed up against the wall! Arg! She didn't want to fight, but she wasn't going to let them take her any further away from the doors.
Man hands gripped the door push bar. In fact, she wrapped her hairy man arms all the way around it. They could tug as her body, but like a stubborn child she would hang on. She had enough strength in those arms to... wait... she didn't have man arms.
Lori shrieked the girliest manshriek of all. "What did you do to me!?"
They would have let Michael go had he not seen fit to attempt the crushing of her windpipe. For a time, she was afraid. Breathing was becoming less and less of an option after he stopped her from talking. And no one seemed willing to break the stalemate.
Well if no one was going to save the princess, the princess was going to save herself.
Forget your motivation for your aggression. Forget that you don't belong here. Forget what made you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
Deep breath. The guns of her comrades twitched as Michael's hand dropped from Noel's throat. The memory-mancer had the distinct urge to leave now. Though, logically she had every right, it was her work place, she just couldn't remember why she needed to be there... Michael latched onto the door that Noel wanted to use to exit.
"S'okay. I think." She waved placatingly to them, though with big red right there maybe it wasn't? Her hand went to the wall to steady herself.
Half the people trained their guns on the big guy (who hadn't done much except stand there) and the other half started to work on pulling Michael's hands off the door.
"I'll just, head out now..." Noel rasped out her words and went for the door, intending to push it open with a Michael attached to it or not.

You ever have one of those days where you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, ran from police, and ultimately wound up in a strange place? Shin had. And the ‘strange place’ he was in wasn’t just a location. It was a mindset.
Could things possibly get any worse?
>>"You made me a man!"
Shinbyss blinked. “Um. I’m not Abyss…” Now was about as good of a time as any to come clean? Eh. Whatever. “Can we go?”
"But you're big and red." Guns were drooping then when someone decided it was a poor trick and snapped his gun back to attention. The others followed suit, but spent almost as much time looking at each other as they did looking at the giant.
"Who are you if you're not Abyss?"
>> “Can we go?”
Foot to face said they could. ManLori said screw it he she was getting out of here. Shove of door. Runrunrun!
