The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

~~“I was hired for a job that took me here. I should be going back to the states as soon as it is done. I was also thinking about going to Hungary to see my extended family when this job is done
Taking a job…so then, if this job was indeed of the other groups he knew of, then they were indeed with the Kabal, if not an independent contractor.
“Oh, Well, if you need or want any help, miss independent woman, let me know.” He was not about to press an issue with her again, at least any time soon. Jupiter was more then content with the long haired dryad sending him come hither eyes and right where she was. He was about at ease as he ever was, and ever had been. A finger errantly twisted a noir lock of hair around its self and freed its self over and over, all the while been exquisitely careful not to pull or twist too harshly. People were so fragile, and this one he did not want to break, though the neighbors might wonder.
“ I miss new york, there aren’t enough people here, its not alive enough for me. Not being able to hear constant traffic, it keeps making me look around and wonder what is going wrong, why the people are scared. Almost like when a beast enters the forest and the birds go silent out of observant respect. Its not quite right.”
Huh…where did all that come from?
“I don’t really have family to go see. I’d go with you, if you asked, but I wouldn’t want to spook anyone.” He got quiet for a moment thinking how odd it would be to bring home a giant of boyfriend home…was he a boyfriend? He felt like one…but they had only spent a night together, maybe he presumed too much.
>>> “Oh, Well, if you need or want any help, miss independent woman, let me know.”
“Umhm,” she mumbled absently, before rolling onto her stomach and stretching. She gave a sleepy yawn and nuzzled her cheek into the pillow, staring at him as he reached out and started to play with her long hair. Her eyes started to flutter and droop, it was quite relaxing for her hair to be played with, and he certainly did a wonderful job in doing so. Just as she was about to drift off into Never land, he spoke about missing New York City and all of its motley crew of people.
Xavia pried an eye open and stared at him while he spoke. She didn’t really comment at first, she just looked at him funny, in that half asleep sort of way. She then sat up and stared for a moment more before talking to him. Of course, he was the only one who was able to get her to speak with such passion. “They are scared because of the law. If you have a gift, you are inferior and must wear a collar. Like a dog.” She sneered some, “Just because of one stupid gene, Jupiter. You didn’t much like it when I bound you with simple vines. Imagine having to wear a damned collar that won’t let you use your gift or face having to go to a camp.”
She plopped back down and rolled onto her back, muttering, “If people are freaked out by you, it’s their loss.”
And, with that, she snuggled up against his side, and the world faded to black again…. Only this time it was because she fell asleep.
They are scared because of the law. If you have a gift, you are inferior and must wear a collar. Like a dog.”
~~ “Just because of one stupid gene, Jupiter. You didn’t much like it when I bound you with simple vines. Imagine having to wear a damned collar that won’t let you use your gift or face having to go to a camp.”
“Oh, sweet one, do you know why I am here? Why we are here? Because in New York when we faced our own registration we so thoroughly ruined the camps in New York that the rescinded their attempt on it across the United States. The Romanians recognized big red libertines and sought us out for help, tips instructions anyone we could spare…we came in force, we brought any of our normal residents that would come. We are going to tear this government and their foolis ways limb from limb and leave it in the hands of our people. We shall see how they embrace a mutant run Romania, things here will change. They will better then we could even make our home, it is a smaller scale this whole country is the size of one of our states.
He admired her as she laid on her stomach and rolled to her side and the still more as she rolled to her back, her fiery passion ignited his own and the fury there made him want to taste her lips. He would hold onto his control as much as he could but the woman sent fire through his viens and only she could quench them again.
~~“If people are freaked out by you, it’s their loss.”
His reply was going to be a passionate kiss, but as he watched her small form curl into him he hesitated, her eyes fluttered to sleep and he went back to quietly petting her dark mane.
He laid their protectively for some time but eventually his black lashes and red lids fell and he drifted to a peaceful sleep, smoothing that was a pleasant rarity to the typically raged filled giant.
Jupiter was drunk and stupid when he’d stumbled upon her. She, herself, was kind of dumb too for confronting him, when he could have snuffed the life out of her with those big, loving hands of his. But if he had never been drunk and stupid that night, would he ever have found her all alone in the middle of Central Park, with a bug up her butt for the people who kept pushing her away from the places she tried to call home?
Xavia couldn’t fathom missing that in her life, couldn’t fathom not having him loving her the way he seemed to. While he never said he did, somehow she knew that he did, and that fate had laughingly pushed the odd couple together. She felt both wonderful and scared at the same time, but she wasn’t running away.
Now he spoke to her with such conviction in his voice, and her throat closed a little in response as she lay beside him, her small body nestled in the large nook that his big body created. He was proving to her that he wasn’t this big bad wolf that seemed to be his guise in the world, but a caring and wonderful person with a big heart. She wouldn’t tell anyone, he probably wanted people to think he was a bad ass, the big softy… Or was it just that he was a big softy when she was around and nobody else?
She fell asleep to the sound of his voice and sighed as she barely felt his hand smooth at her long hair, a smile on her lips as he kept talking.
The Revolation
Xavia woke in the middle of the night, sitting up slowly and looking around. Her eyes tiredly tried to focus in the moonlit room, and took a moment of blurring and adjusting before she was able to make out actual silhouettes and shadows that filled the hotel room. She could hear his heavy breathing as he slept like a baby, probably exhausted from the several hours they had spent “getting to know one another.” She reached over and grabbed her slip, pulling it over her head to settle onto her small form.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she padded to the window, then reached one hand over to push the drapes aside from the picturesque sized window, looking out into the spectacularly lit city of Bucharest while resting her forehead against the cool pane of glass. Snow had already carpeted the ground some days before, and the city was cold, too cold for her to go outside and play. Too cold for her to touch the snow she so missed eating as a child off of the evergreen box hedges that used to surround her family’s house in Michigan.
She felt homesick, but she knew if she left now, she would regret it. People needed her, and, for once, it was nice to be needed. Especially knowing that someone who slept soundly in her bed behind her needed her, she was not about to give up and go home. She reveled in the fact that, even as she needed the money, it was no longer about that… It was about the human beings being treated like dogs, forced into camps like Hitler had done with the Jews so long ago.
Jupiter had said they did it in New York as well, but she wasn’t there for that. No, she was at home in the warmth of a greenhouse when that had happened, sheltered from this kind of thing.
Xavia pulled away from the window for a moment, before seeing what looked like a pay phone across the street from the hotel. Even though there was a phone in her room, she didn’t want her family to call her there. She went to the bed and bent over Jupiter, brushing a soft kiss across his brow, before writing a quick note.
“Will be back… Across the street at pay phone. Have something I need to do.”
With that, she bundled herself up in a bunch of winter clothes, and grabbed her keycard and her phone card that she had purchased to pay for any outgoing calls she had been making. She left the room, quietly shutting the door behind her and headed toward the stairwell instead of the elevator. She descended to the ground floor, then headed outside and across the street to the phone.
After dialing a bunch of numbers, she shivered as she held the receiver up to her ear. She ignored the red welts that were forming on her face from the falling snow, and waited… It was only two in the morning in Romania, so it stood to reason it was, perhaps, six or seven hours earlier in Michigan. Her heart kind of pounded, and she waited breathlessly for the phone to be answered.
Just as she was about to place the receiver into the cradle, she heard the familiar, but sad voice of her father as he answered the phone hesitantly, probably puzzled by the caller ID. “Hallo…?”
For a moment, she couldn’t say anything, but he repeated himself a couple of times, and she said softly, “Papa?”
“Who….? Sahveeah?!” His voice went up a few decibles, and she could hear scrambling in the background, and the beep of the phone as he put it hurriedly on speaker phone, and the rest of the family started excitingly talking all at once…
Jupiter closed in on the empty space that Xavia left, as if trying to protect it for when she returned. He was still recovering from the activities of the week, wrecking a country was hard work. And he still had some capital buildings to crush and military bases to decimate. He grinned in his sleep as he put his fist through a tank and threw it at the moon moments later he stood in the rubble of a fallen base and was dusting off his hands.
~~“Will be back… Across the street at pay phone. Have something I need to do.”
The grin on his face changed from malice to happiness at hearing the faye voice in his ear. His hand reached out and finding a pillow first gently moved it closer to him. and then enclosed it in his circle.
The door clicked shut as quiet as could be and his eyes flashed open. He rolled out of bed and quickly went for his clothes getting dressed as fast as mutantly possible. He looked around the room, she left everything where it was and that would have been a good sign except for the fact that she left everything she owned with him the day she took off. He walked to the window and saw there was no cab or anything waiting so he simply watched the front of the building for a while, if she wanted to disappear she could, he learned that at home. If he meant anything to her, she would be back, if she didn’t return to him…well she wouldn’t have the opportunity later. He watched the streets and then the familiar form that he was coming to love walked out of the front of the hotel and crossed the street to a small booth. He then glanced around the rest of the road. What was she thinking? They had a phone right here. What secret did she have that she couldn’t risk him overhearing? His then fell on a small military patrol moving down the road. His fists tensed and he watched as the patrol neared the booth. If they wanted to survive they would leave the lone woman in peace. He placed his palm on the intersection of the window more than ready to make a quick exit for her sake.
((**OOC Note: I tied this post in with the thread: Money Talks. Hopefully if you have read the thread, this post will make more sense lol.))
She ignored the cars and the people behind her, and began to speak in Hungarian to make it easier on her family. “Hello father.” She continued to ignore the sting of the snow, and the blare of headlights behind her as the patrol slowed to a stop near the booth and the men in the car got out. She really didn’t care about them, she wanted her family to know she was alive.
“Where are you, darling? We thought you were dead…” She could hear her mother’s voice catch as she seemed to sound like she started to cry, and Xavia’s head ducked. She kicked a tiny bit at the snow covered pavement.
“I’m okay, mother. I am sorry I couldn’t let you know until now, but things have been really wild… I’ll be home soon, momma and papa---“ she would have continued, but they interrupted with, “Where are you? When will you be home? Are you really okay?”
And then she would have answered if the men from the patrol car hadn’t approached her. “Miss, state your business.” In Romanian, of course.
She put her hand over the mouth piece and turned to look at them, only to find the bright light of their flashlight and blaring in her face. She held her hand up to block the light, and welts immediately appeared on her palm. “Are you alright, Miss?”
“I’m fine… Please, I just want to talk to my family…”
They then grabbed her arm, not believing her. Who welted up when the snow touched their skin? In fact, because she was less guarded, she began to blister from the cold. She cried out as the burning of the cold hurt her horribly. She had just wanted to talk to her family without waking Jupiter. She dropped the receiver and lashed out, “Let me go! I just want to talk to my family…”
She could hear her family cry out her name over the tiny speaker of the receiver. “You fit the description of the girl given to us by someone in high esteem with the government…” By that point, she stopped listening and tried to lash out again, but this time they used brute force, and she had no choice but to defend herself. Unfortunately for her, she was in the cold, and her powers were practically useless in the winter. Thorns stabbed at their hands slower than she would have liked, and the one who had grabbed her arm jabbed a tazer against her neck, and she cried out and went down. There was no way that Jupiter had the time to get down there before that point. Her room was several floors up.
Jupiter tensed as the patrol stopped and had to hesitate for a moment, she would talk her way out this, if he attacked now it would jeopardize her identity, for the rest of her stay in Romania. It was then that the soldier grabbed her arm. Jupiter Pressed his Palm forward and the window shattered. He jumped out the window like it was a turnstile back home and he fell toward the ground like an angry read meteor. Landing on the ground with a thud. He drew the immediate attention of several of the soldiers around him that leveled automatic weapons toward him. Typically this might make him pause for thought, but they were attacking his Xavia. He strutted forward just as the tazer met her skin sending her into unconsciousness.
The soldiers were shouting commands at him, that they would open fire on him, but they had heard the stories of Red liberty, he was everywhere and damn near indestructible. Word was that he could survive a gun shot with out as much as batting an eye, it was this that lead the soldiers to back away opposed to open fire as warned. The lummox swung a heavy arm and sent one of the men flying. He clutched his fist and the remaining three immediately facing him prepared to open fire on him. it was worth a shot. But their captain wanted the glory and settled his pistol toward the woman.
“If you don’t come peacefully, she dies here and now!” the man’s voice begged him to fight. He wanted to kill the woman.
Jupiter fixed his eyes on the dark haired Romanian and put his hands in the air. He did it for two reasons, one He couldn’t see her killed and two, the automatic weapons trained on him were going to tear him up. they thought he was invincible because one of his brothers had been running around with a healer and purposefully spreading the fact that he couldn’t be killed. The healer would heal Venus even as the bullets met his flesh. Venus was doing of course because the Romanian rebels were eating it up, he was moving through the camps like a king. But that was beside the point.
Jupiter glared at the tiny mortal that approached him with the same tazer that just downed Dryad. “You don’t have enough power, boy.” Why did he have to be so stubborn, he should have just played possum. His words had drawn a poor end for him. Several other soldiers drew their tazers and circled Jupiter. Taking turns releasing bolt after bolt of energy into him until the group was attacking him like a vicious pack of dogs…
The phone dangled on its silver chord, the panicked sound of a family who had repeatedly lost a daughter and sister was drowned out by the sounds that filled the street. Xavia didn’t just go unconscious, she convulsed for a good moment or two after being tazed by the cruel hand of the officers. She was already weak from the cold; she could simply die without them putting a bullet to her head. Didn’t they see that?
She wasn’t unconscious for too long, either, and when she had slowly awakened, they had already begun to remove her bulky outer wear so they could handle her more easily. The cold bit into her flesh through her clothing, and she cried out in agony. Romania had more bitter winds than Michigan, that was for sure! And she was a plant.
They were crowded around him closing in and they would have had his hands tied with the fact they held her but then they started to remove her clothing and more of her welted flesh was visible. He attacked in every direction his tail and arms cut a circle sending the man in front of himself flying into those that were over her. he dashed to her and scooped her up off the dirty ground. Tucking her under his chest and leaning over her protectively like an alpha male growling protectively over his catch his tail encircled them and held her closer. His knees tucked under hiding the delicate little form from the men, and warming her with the hiss body heat, some day she might roll away from him on a summer night to escape the excessive heat, but tonight it was a blessing. The mean that survived leveled their riffles on them. He spoke a quiet but firm threat as the wound dogs started to circle him again, the ones that could walk or weren’t near him when he attacked anyway.
“You can do what you want to me, but I swear on your gravestones, if any of you so much as try to touch a hair on her head I will kill you all, by tearing you limb from limb, and you know from your comrades, I would be more than happy to do it.”
The tension immediately rose in the air, it was almost tangible. Several soldiers balanced the scales, their lives for his. Could they survive? Would they want to? But Jupiter was feeling generous and rather protective.
“but, if you take us peacefully and no one tries to take her from me, we will go quietly.”
The highest ranking conscious soldier agreed as fast as his tongue would speak.
~~“Yes, you too get in the truck.” And fell silent as Jupiter’s eyes fell on him.
“Pick her clothes up off the ground. And put them in the truck, we will be in shortly.”
Jupiter walked over to the phone and looked to dryad, handing her the receiver..
“Sweetie, tell them everything is going to be alright, I’ve got you now, it will be ok.”
She was vaguely aware of the change in temperature. Her eyes were fluttering closed as she grew so tired, so fast. If she had leaves, surely, by now, they would have withered and drifted to the ground to lie against the pristine snow like a reminder of the season passed. The plant mutant could hear the distant voice of her lover calling to her, asking her to speak to someone…
Xavia mumbled something, mimicking Jupiter’s words as best as she could, but the damage had already been done when they’d taken her over-clothing. He skin felt as if she had been passed through flames, thanks to the snow licking at her the way that it did. She mumbled something else, but it was hard to tell what it was, inaudible almost, “I love you.” Was that for him, or them? Or was it for all of them?
The woman went limp in Jupiter’s hold, passing out from the pain. Why? Why did they do this to her? All she had wanted to do was to speak to her mother and father because Jupiter had reminded her of what she was missing in her life… Her family, love, joy… And just when she had started to feel these things, which had overrode the negative thoughts and feelings, these men wanted to take it away again.
She wasn’t dead, but she seemed frighteningly close, even closer than she had ever been. Nobody had ever placed her in the cold for this long, long enough to have welted, and then blistered her skin thusly. Agony was an understatement.
A whisper of an I love you went into the receiver to a family that was in mid panic.
“Turn the ****** heat up in your truck too.” She went limp in his arms.
“I will keep her safe.” He said into the receiver, he listened to the joint family question what exactly was going on. “I give you my word I will bring her back safe to you, as soon as I can manage. For now though we have to go.”
Jupiter hung up the phone not waiting to answer the questions pouring once in the truck he ripped her coat out of A soldiers hands. They all warily pointed guns at him and shifted uneasily as they knew they were in a cage with a killer.
He did his best to warm her, as the others watched uncomfortably as he took off his shirt and wrapped it around her along with her coat and then held her close to his chest. the heat in the truck was pumping. not to mention the fact that there were several armed men watching him as well pouring out their own body heat.. There was an unspoken agreement, that if she died, they were going to fight to the death as well.
Thinking about her death saddened him to no end. He leaned over and whispered into her ear, every sweet nothing and something he could think of.
