The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Wrinkling her nose, she frowned at him, well, in his direction, but not because of him. "How rude, he must not have been a very nice person." While following him back to their seats, he thanked her for coming with him, and she smiled at his back. A small smile, but a smile all the same. She honestly didn't know why he was thanking her, she had caused nothing but trouble from the moment she bumped into him earlier that day.... but if he felt the need, she wouldn't cause further problems by arguing with him. "You are welcome, Saphirus."
When it came time to shimmy down the row of benches and back into the seats they had been assigned, she paused before sitting, avoided looking at Mr. Big jaw, and picked up the items he had given her. On went the awkward, boyish hat, and on went the glove. She grinned, no longer worried around exposing her teeth to him, and pointed at the field with her giant foam finger.
Saph took his seat once more and glanced over to Andrea as she started to put all of her accessories back on. He smiled as she grinned; it felt good to make her smile, pointy teeth or no.
"Right now? Looks like they are about to switch sides. It's the Yankee's turn to defend. You see how they are switching? The guys who were batting are coming out to the field, and the guys who were in the field are going to bat now. That guy in the middle of the diamond is going to have to throw the ball so that the batter can hit it, but misses." He nodded a little.
Big jaw was sitting grumpily, his arms crossed, and his beer empty. Saph glanced down and realized his beer was empty as well... That was odd, he didn't remember finishing it, or even drinking very much of it, for that matter. Oh well. Big jaw grinned as he watched Saph inspect his cup.
"Right..." She nodded, more to herself, and sat in semi confusion as the tiny people below tossed the little white ball at each other repeatedly, and one of them tried to hit it with a stick. Perhaps it was one of those games you had to play, to understand and enjoy? "Have you ever played this game, Saphirus?" Turning her attention to him, she tilted her head and frowned. "Is it very fun to play?"
Coming from a background when she played by herself made it nearly impossible to guess at how fun certain things would be. For example, Andrea had never fully been able to under stand why tennis was so fun, even though her father swore up and down that it was one of the best sports out there. Because she had never played it before, (and because her back yard had been much too small put a court in) she had frustrated her father to no end with questions. In her mind, it was like that other game, ping pong... where was the fun in bouncing a small plastic ball back and forth over a tiny net?
"I used to play it all of the time with one of my families... I was in a jr. league. They were baseball fanatics, always talking about it or playing it." He nodded slowly, not moving his eyes from the field. He had a thought, and then turned to her slowly.
"You ever play any sports?" He had a feeling he knew the answer already... He was at a loss trying to find out anything this girl had done in her life, so far. Never been to an arena, never had a chilidog... next thing he knew, she would say that she hadn't ever ridden the subway... foreigners.
He turned back to the game with great intent, watching as one of the guys got on base. "You see that? He hits the ball, and then runs as far as he can before the team can get it back to the base he is running to. If they tag him with the ball, or they can catch it before it ever hits the ground ,he is out, and has to get off the field until he next bats."
One of his families?... Ah. Andrea nodded, but remained silent. So, he was adopted. Or at least had moved about through his extended family. Either or, she wrote that little bit of information down on a her mental notepad and reserved it for further questioning later. In the meantime, it seemed like he had some of his own questions regarding her experience with sports. The words, 'No, I have not.' balanced precariously on the tip of her tongue, threatening to tumble out- but she managed to contain them. While they were the truth, did she really want to let leak that much of her personal life? Her eyes remained fixated on him for a few moments, until he looked back down towards the game. She too moved her eyes in that direction, but couldn't focus on small men running to and fro, chasing that little white ball.
After a few moments of silence, she spoke up. Having decided that admitting her inexperience in the field of sports was not that big of a deal compared to the rest of her problems. "I have not." Her eyes returned to him briefly, before she wrinkled her nose and glanced up at the large screen across the field. A group of colorful fans were dancing about, mad with excitement while the camera was on them. "I have never been one for sports, I suppose you could say." She mustered a small smile, and clammed up as he went about explaining what the field players were doing. So, if the ball was caught, the hitter was out. If he was touched by the ball, the hitter was out.
....
"Why do they not simply throw the ball at him then? Why do they have to run after him?" Not exactly a smart question, she was sure, but it was better than asking 'why don't they aim for his head then?'
"Hmm, I dunno. I suppose it's that... Say, he ducks, and the ball misses him... it goes flyin off to the side, and he can just get a home run while the opposing team is scrambling to get the ball again."
Saph nodded, adding in after thought. "So you never played sports... maybe I could teach you how to play baseball some time? It's pretty fun once you get it down." He smiled a little, leaning back in his seat, finally relaxed. It had been a pretty long day, hell, it had been a long week, and now he could finally kick back.
He took no notice of her hesitancy to talk to him about sports. Some people were sheltered, that's all. He wasn't about to judge her on that, but he could help open her up, any why not? It wasn't like he was lacking for spare time. Time was actually just about all he had right now.
To duck seemed like cheating somehow. Like in tag, if you just climbed to a high enough place that no one could reach you. She shrugged it off however, turning her attention to his offer to teach her some sports. "I think I would like that Saphirus." She would have to learn sometime, after all. Why not with someone she mildly liked? "I suppose I will have to learn eventually." She turned her eyes back to the back, and fidgeted with her foam hand.
Something about not being able to grasp anything with your fingers was odd... and yet- it was kind of fun! "What do you normally do at a game?... I mean, back here in the seats?" Her chin turned as she looked about at all of the cheering fans. "Are we supposed to act like them?" If that was the case, she would stand with him and wave her hand about- unless of course that would prompt another threat from the big jawed one...
She didn't want that to happen again. Recalling the finger tap, she sighed. Perhaps remaining in her seat was best then, better safe than sorry. After a few moments of simply sitting and watching the game progress, she turned her head and asked another question. "Have you ever been out side the US Saph?"

"You just watch, let the game take you in. You'll find that you'll act like everyone else here without even trying. Here, do what I do." Saph stood quickly, raised his hands up into the air, and then lowered them, sitting again. Suddenly the whole crowd started mimicking him, moving around the stadium, and stopping at the other side, where it died out. Saph grinned, and leaned back. "The wave."
She asked about him ever leaving the states.
"Nope, haven't left this state my whole life. It's my home. Not sure if I really want to leave." He shrugged... He supposed he was going to leave it at some point, but he wasn't about to do it for no reason." I guess i-"
"Hey, would you two just shut the hell up already? I'm trying to watch the goddam game!"
Saph looked up to see big jaw flapping his maw away. He looked down, and sighed, before slowly reaching up, and poking the big man on the forehead with his left index finger. His head rocked back, and a bump formed quickly, and the man sunk back into his seat, knocked out cold.
"There we go." He had put all of the energy he'd gotten from being hit by a home run, and walking throughout the day into that poke... The guy would be out for a while.
Andrea watched with a mix of awe and confusion on her face as pretty much the whole stadium copied Saph's movement. The 'wave'... she had only ever seen it on TV, and honestly hadn't thought it so easy too do. In her mind, she had expected the whole event to take hours of preparation, too make sure everything turned out just right and everyone knew when to stand on time... but, apparently that wasn't so. She neglected to stand when the people next to her tried to copy Saph, and thwarted their attempt at another 'wave'. After receiving a few dirty glances, she turned her attention back to Saphirus and pointedly ignored everyone else. He spoke about never leaving the state- something she found rather odd, and had been about to continue on when the big jawed fellow with beefy fingers decided to interrupt again. Her nerves frayed just a little, prepared to leave again- this time with Saph- before her older companion reached back and tapped the man on the forehead.
He went out like a light. It took the twenty two year old a few moments before she blinked, and slipped into panic mode. "Oh my! What happened?! Is he alright...?" She poked at the man cautiously with her foam hand, afraid he might at any moment jump up and tear her arm off. Saph didn't seem to worried though. He turned again, eyes set on the game, and casually stated "There we go." Andrea turned confused eyes and a puzzled frown his way, before glancing once more at the unconscious man. "What did you do to him?" She asked quietly, as she righted herself in her seat, staring at the finger of her foam hand. It had touched the man, it felt contaminated. She peeled it off and dropped it into the empty seat next to her, before slipping her dirty glove back on. Gross, yes. But it would have to do.
