The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The pain in his throat continued as he tried to force the ball up. Much to his displeasure it was more difficult than he had thought to force the contents of his stomach up. Wondering if Lily was a mother or was just extremely nice Carrick realized how much he missed his mother at that time. Her palm on his neck was a welcomed comfort in the situation he was in, and as her palm connected with his feathered neck he felt the ball reshape making it far easier to expel.
With one final lurch Carrick felt his throat loosen up as the contents entered his beak. The ball, which was no longer a ball, left his mouth as the dirt and stomach bile fell out into a small pile on the ground leaving little to no mess other than the small amount of stomach bile. Letting out a sigh of relief Carrick lowered his back end and sat down his tail uncurling from his leg and lowering it’s self to the ground.
Thankful eyes looked to Lily as Carrick had dubbed her as his own personal guardian angel before looking upon Juka with cold eyes he remained in his bubble and did little to nothing to help him. Turning his gaze back to Lily and letting out a small cooing sound as he lowered his head inching towards her till the top of his head reached her leg. After nuzzling her leg for a moment Carrick lowered the rest of his body till he was laying down.
Placing one large paw on her leg Carrick’s ears lowered as the cooing continued. It was his way of thanking her and he decided that if she should feel the need for a fly Carrick would be more than willing to take her to the skies if she should ask. His wings extended briefly before folding up. A shooting pain through out his body caused him to lift his head in curiosity his ears perking and his face looking down at the paw on Lily’s leg. The unmistakable image of his paw bubbling and rippling started to form in his vision, as the pain started to progress and worsen as his tail curled up and started to go berserk behind him.
"There's a good boy" Lily smiled as she scratched the gryphon behind his ears. She was glad he had a mythical form. If he was just another kid, she might have been a lot more shy about cuddling him the way she had been doing, but this version of Carrick... had a certain quality about him that made it feel more like cuddling a pet. Or a stuffed animal. Chuckling at the cooing sound she kept running her fingers through his fur. "Look Juka. Isn't he adorable?" she grinned up at her friend in the bubble. She knew Juka had a soft spot for pets, kittens especially, but judging from his enthusiasm so far she could include gryphons in that list too. Turning back to Carrick, she patted the paw. "Be more careful next time, baby." she smiled, wrapping an arm around his neck. So cute. She sat back up when she felt the gryphon wince. What now? It was not the ball - that had been long discarded, together with all the stuff he swallowed with it - but then what?... The tail was slashing around, and hit her on the shoulder; she didn't really care, at the moment she was more concerned about Carrick himself. He seemed to be in pain. It took her a few moments to notice the rippling and shifting. "Carrick, are you all right?..." looking up at Juka, she bit her lip "Um... I think he is changing back."
Juka didn't appreciate the judgemental look that Carrick gave him. No, he didn't appreciate it at all. Was it his fault that he had no idea how to help a gryphon who had swalled a silver ball? He just didn't know what it was he was supposed to do so he decided not to do anything at all. After all, getting in the way probably would have done more harm than good right? Its not that he hadn't wanted to help the poor gryphon, he just didn't think that he could. Juka gave Carrick a hurt look. Life just wasn't fair sometimes.
Juka only had a minute to wallow in his own self pitty before something bizarre starting happening to Carrick. He looked on in fascinated horror as the gryphyn angel appeared to be in some amount of pain and his paw began to bubble and become unstable. He gasped in sympathetic horror and went to hide behind Jewel, uncertain what was going on and hoping that it wasn't somehow his fault. After all, his powers had started acting funny recently, what if he had somehow inadvertaintly hurt poor Carrick?
"I'm sorry Carrick," Juka said forlornly, suddenly convinced that somehow this was all his fault. "I wish I could help you." Then Jewel suggested that perhaps he was changing back and hope blossomed in his chest. Could that really be possible? Could it not be his fault after all? "Um...Is there anything I can do to help?"
A screech exited his beak as his body continued to bubble and ripple. Wishing that no one was hear to see the transformation Carrick turned away from the two as he heard Juka off to help. Smart-ass comment will have to be said later about Juka’s timing for now however he was going to have to deal becoming naked in front of the pair and anyone else on the mansion grounds.
His wings covering down low over him Carrick felt the pain stop meaning that the shifting was done and what’s more he was now completely naked in the cold weather of the fall. Goosebumps instantly popped up all over his body as his teeth started to clatter up and down in rapid succession trying to warm his body up. Standing up and lowering his wings to cover his privates Carrick looked to the pair that were staring at him. ”So shifting has some drawbacks…” he said simply as his face rushed to a red color due to his embarrassment and the cold.
Turning his head slightly to Juka he smiled and said, ”You could help me find my clothes, I doubt this is as entertaining for you as it is for me,” Carrick placed his hands on his body under the cover of his wings in hopes to cover what ever wasn’t covered by his wings.
She was right, Carrick was shifting back. That was a relief, considering their fright about the ball just minutes ago; it was still natural. Lily hadn't met many shifters in her life but she started to suspect changing shapes was not at all a pleasant experience. And he was naked too. Oops. Turning her head, Lily's cheeks colored pink too. With a chuckle, she untied the sweatshirt from around her waist and tossed it at the boy. "There. Juka will get your clothes in a minute." she flashed a smile at her friend, a smile that said only an amazingly kind and caring person like him with his unique and awesome abilities can save the day and the kid's health by the noble act of fetching his clothes. Lily's smiles tended to speak more than her lips. Not looking at the boy, she chuckled again. "I take it there is a time limit to your shifting then..."
"Of course I will certainly go find your close," Juka agreed with an amused smile. He had the good sense not to laugh at the poor kid. Modesty. It was such a funny thing. Why anyone would be embarrassed by something as natural and pure as their own body was beyond him, but it seemed that most people were. Utterly incomprehensible. But then, he supposed, its not like anyone had the physical perfection that Juka himself possessed, so perhaps they were just envious of him and that's why they appeared to be constantly embarrassed. Yes, that must plainly be it. He felt pleased with himself for working out the dilemma.
Juka once again bubbled himself and went floating in the direction the he had seen Carrick run off to just before he shifted. The lost clothes surely couldn't have been that far away, though the searching was complicated by the fact that his bubble was large enough that it made floating through the trees less than ideal and so he floated above them instead, which made spotting clothes far below rather difficult. Out of the corner of his eye, however, he glimpsed a bit of colour and, maneuvering the bubble closer, confirmed that they were indeed the missing clothes. He sent out a couple of tendrils and bubbled them into secondary bubbles, for easy transport back to the clearing.
"I have found the missing clothes," Juka announced grandly, dropping the clothes in front of the naked angel bird. "No need to thank me." He grinned and floated over to Jewel.
Carrick nodded his head as his hands and wings covered his bare skin after the transformation, ”Yes, a little more or less than a half hour all depends on what happens during my transformation, guess choking took a little out of me.” toes prodding the dirt and digging into the cold earth Carrick smiled slightly as Juka returned with his clothes. They dropped inches from his naked self; inching towards them Carrick reached out to his boxers with his big toe and pulled it close. ”You sure? Cause I was going to throw you a parade!” said Carrick his voice full of sarcastic smugness.
He was in fact going to thank Juka just in his own way, for now however he had planned to get dressed and make an attempt to warm up because with things they were now he was likely to catch a cold fairly quickly. Looking up in-between his wings Carrick called out to the pair, ”No peeking!” quickly he pulled his boxers on followed by his pants and shirt. After he had all his clothing on Carrick began to shiver as he called out again, ”Alright!”
Hands rubbing his arms, which were covered in flannel, Carrick smiled again through chattering teeth, ”One of the many draw backs!” as he continued to shiver his wings extended upright then folded behind him to try and help retain the body heat. Within a few seconds his tail did something similar to that by wrapping around his tail. ”D-D-Do you t-t-t-hink there i-is- Hot –Co-Co-Co?” hoping there was a way he could warm up before he got sick.
Lily made sure she turned away while Carrick got properly dressed. She smiled at Juka instead. His ego probably didn't need any flattering, but he always reacted so well to kind words it was really tempting to keep doing so. "Thank you, sugah." ”One of the many draw backs!” Carrick announced, and Lily could see what he was referring to. Standing up, she turned back to the boy with a smile. "Seems to me like it's a small price to pay for that ability of yours. Your, um, gryphon form is amazing." Putting a hand on the shivering kid's shoulder she couldn't help but notice it was rather cold outside. She didn't feel it before from all the running, but now that they settled down goosebumps started to appear on her skin too. ”D-D-Do you t-t-t-hink there i-is- Hot –Co-Co-Co?” "Oh yes there is." she chuckled "Let's go inside before you catch a cold."
Juka turned his eyes away from Carrick as he dressed, respecting his modesty even if he really didn't understand it. Humans were such funny creatures, even angelic bird humans. It seemed a little pointless to be so worried about a little thing like how much you showed to the world, but to each their own.
”D-D-Do you t-t-t-hink there i-is- Hot –Co-Co-Co?”
Juka smirked, his amusement rising all the more. Feathered Carrick might be, but his bubbles were clearly still superior. He never had to worry about the cold, after all. Or the wet or the snow for that matter. It just went to prove that, even if he didn't look like an angel and even if he couldn't transform (and he was still determined to learn that little trick) he was still as close to perfection as was possible. Without a doubt. But, since his little angel gryphon was so sweet and had a beauty uniquely his own, Juka took pitty on him. It wasn't his fault that he wasn't Juka Miami, after all. No one but he was.
"My sweet feathered friend," Juka said with a sad shake of his head. "Of course we must get you inside and get you something warm to drink. I couldn't possibly live with myself if you caught a cold or worse because I kept you out here in the cold."
