The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Lucky I tend to fall for older guys the, eh?" Callie said with a wink. But she, too, sobered up as Jewel said she had been lucky. She could only agree. She'd heard the stories; about mutants chased from their homes or even attacked by their siblings. Hell, not only mutants. Her brother had almost been thrown out for being gay, and she'd heard about a lot of people in the same situation who hadn't been so lucky as to be allowed to stay.
She glanced at the drawer, once more blushing slightly. She'd always thought she'd been rather well off and cared for, but all this kindness from total strangers... that completely fazed her. "Wow, so I'll be a lady now. And I've always wanted to be a real lady too." She grinned a bit wryly. "I guess there's an upside to my hands, after all."
"Lucky I tend to fall for older guys the, eh?" Lily blinked at that comment - Callie looked too young to fall for anyone, well, scratch that, she was the exact age when girl fall for anyone, but still... whatever. She shrugged, and giggled at her comment on gloves and ladies. "Wow, so I'll be a lady now. And I've always wanted to be a real lady too. I guess there's an upside to my hands, after all." "There is an upside to everything, darling" she noted with the convinced tone of someone who knows "But I have to tell you, don't trust the whole lady thing on the gloves. I have been born, told and raised to be one - a lady, I mean - and although I have been pretty convinced it worked, recently it is starting to loose some polish." she smirked "I can teach you, if you'd like, but I'm warning you, most people would choose a Danger Room death session over Etiquette lessons any time."

Callie heaved a theatralic sigh. "I suppose you're right," she conceded. "And considering I knock everything I come within reach of over, and the fact that I regularily wear tie-dye and other clothes that look like they belong to an old hippie, I suspect that nothing will make me look like a lady. Still, I can feel ladylike wearing these." Then she frowned as she finally registered what Lily had said. "What's the da- Oh, no, wait, that's the place we're supposed to learn to use our powers, right?" She looked a bit nervous now. "Is it relly that bad?"

Still, I can feel ladylike wearing these." Lily grinned at that. "Well, I am glad then I could present you with your first pair of ladyness." she looked at the gloves on her hand, and they seemed to fit just perfectly "And if you wanna go all Princess Diaries, anytime, just let me know." After some thought, she decided to add another serious note to the whole conversation. "Just kidding, honey. Don't ever change for anything less than having fun." Lily couldn't help but laugh out at the concern in Callie's voice when she asked about the danger room. "Don't worry, nobody makes you go there if you don't want to. It's optional. And most of the settings are not dangerous at all. Actually, some crazy folks around here go there just for the fun of it." she grinned. Lately, she had been one of those crazy folks.

Callie smiled a bit wistfully. "You know, that's what my brother used to say as well. 'Don't let them get to you, dollface, or you'll end up like a sad sack of shite on some bar, crying to people who don't care about the life you never had'. He is a bit brutal in how he expresses himself..."
She trailed off and listened to Lily talking about the danger room. "Well, that, uh, guy called Streak said it was a good idea that I practise my powers in there, seeing as they could wreak so much havock, I suppose. And I really want to get control over this, because I don't want to hurt myself again. Burn wounds are horrible," she shuddered, "and I've heard that cold burns are just as bad. Still, I hope there are going to be people there with me, because I don't know if I could handle being alone with myself and this... thing..." She blushed. "I'm silly, I know."
Lily chuckled and decided she liked Callie's brother. He sounded like a decent guy. Not to mention wise.

She shook her head with a smile. "No, you are not silly. That's why you are here, to learn..." adding it as a second thought with a special smile in the corner of her lips, she said "... so you've met Shawn. Good. I should have known he's the one who sent you here..." she shook her head "... anyway. You don't have to go to the danger room alone. Most of us don't. Working in pairs and teams is the X... ummm, Mansion way of handling things." she winked at her. She glanced at the clock on the wall, and realized they have been talking for quite a long time now. "All right, let's get you settled in. Did you get the tour from Shawn?... well, scratch that, first things first, have you eaten anything lately?"

Well, that was at least a relief. Whatever they both had said, she still thought a place called the Danger Room was not a place where she wanted to be alone. And it was true that she'd rather be in the company of someone while using her powers, because they were horrifying, and no one could quite convince her otherwise. But she wasn't going to argue right now.
"Oh, so that's his real name, is it?" she said instead. "I wondered. Streak didn't sound like something you'd think of to name a baby." She giggled a bit. She didn't quite understand what Lily meant with that she should have understood that it was he that had sent her, but she supposed it might be some private joke between them or something.
"Well, no, I didn't have the tour, because of this," she kicked her trunk with a good deal of menace. It had been hell, draggig it with her through what had seemed like half of New York. "But that bit about food sounds great." This was accentuated by a growl from her stomach. "I haven't eaten since lunch, and that was a while ago."
"Oh, so that's his real name, is it? I wondered. Streak didn't sound like something you'd think of to name a baby."
Lily grinned at that. "Nah, that's his codename. Most people around here have one... it comes with the powers, I guess." she shrugged, remembering how she had to wrap her mind around the idea too not so long ago "You'll hear people calling me Jewel. Same difference." she winked at Callie as she stood and put on her jeans and a T-shirt. Getting dressed usually took way more time than this for her, but now she had a brand new roommate to take care of, and that was an exception. She pulled her hair back into a bun, already on her way to the door.
"C'mon, I'll show you the kitchen and the dining room. You'll get something to eat, and that's the unofficial center of Mansion life anyway. We can do the rest of the tour after the meal."

Callie watched Lily dress - thinking idly that she really should hate this girl for being so casually gorgeous - while she mulled over what she had said.
"Code names? Like superheroes?" Callie snickered. "I suppose that makes sense in a way. There are a lot of mutants with super-powers... sorta. Allthough any decent real super hero would probably laugh at Make Things Liquid Woman." She grinned. "Although they could call me Dorothy, since I can, presumably, melt people. But Dorothy doesn't sound very threatening either."
She got to her feet, streching and grimaced at the stiffness that had already settled in her shoulders. "Anyway, you can call it the first part of the tour, can't you? And the kitchen is the most important part anyway. You lead, and I'll try to amble helplessly behind."
(OOC: Sorry for the huge delay, I've had a lot of studying to do and hve been stressed out like hell, so my mind hasn't really been focused )
Callie seemed to be fascinated by the idea of codenames. Lily snickered. Sometimes the names added a great deal of coolness to one's reputation - other codenames she'd heard were somewhat weird, to say the least. "I am sure you'll come up with something a bit shorter and more catchy" she winked at her as they walked down the corridor towards the kitchen "People always have fun coming up with these names. Except for me, I've been called Jewel at home even before I discovered my abilities. Dad's in the jewelry business, you see." she smirked. "Codemanes don't make you a superhero." she added, on second thought "But they can come in handy." Walking into the dining room and then to the kitchen, she went straight for the fridge. "Annnd here we are. Let's see what we can find for you. There's always plenty of food here; I'm not sure if it's someone's ability, or they just take great care of us..." she chuckled "You can come here whenever you're hungry." Rummaging around in the fridge and in the cupboards she started piling food on the table. "Choose whatever you feel like, and we'll heat it up."
((OOC: Don't worry I know what that feels like Welcome back))

"You say that now, but I've got terrible imagination," Callie replied as she tagged along after Lily. "Wait a few years, and I'll probably be remembered as the laughing stock of the... uh... International League of Mutants or something."
At Lily's request, she peered into the refrigerator, and was a bit baffled to find that she hadn't been exaggerating. "Blimey! You'd've thought it was Christmas or something." She gave something jelly-ish a sceptical glance before pickin up a packet of sausages. "I hope I won't be eating anyone's science project now. Only everything in the public kitchen at Jonathan's old boarding school was apparently either toxic or really revolting. And I imagine that mutant powers makes for very interesting mischief-making." She grinned at Lily to take the edge of her words. She didn't want to appear to be whining or anything. "Still, you wouldn't be eating it if it was radioactive, so I suppose it's okay."
OOC: Don't know how the rules work here, so I'll just ask... Do we have to move the thread to the Kitchen area, or? A lot of RPG-sites work like that, so I thought I'd ask XD
Lily grinned at her new roommate. "As far as I know, everything here is safe to eat. There are too many kids in this school to just keep a science project in the common fridge. I'd say those are safely locked away in some lab downstairs. Or at least I hope so." she added with a grin that matched hers. Starting to prepare breakfast for herself and Callie from the chosen ingredients, she continued. "Above all this place is still a school. A bunch of kids with weird abilities, and grown-ups who are even weirder sometimes, but it's still a place to learn. We have regular classes and all that. In case one can't make a living off her own powers without needing any other kind of education." she smirked. She, for example, was one of those lucky few. Being able to sense, pull and form precious materials was her ticket to a nice, comfortable life. If she chose to live one. "And even if one can, learning things can never hurt." she added as an afterthought. Callie was still very young. She needed to know even mutant studants can't get away with everything just because they had powers.
(OOC: No we can stay here, it's fine. Sorry for the delay, I had trouble keeping up with all my posts )

"I'll take your word for it, and blame you if it turns me green," Callie replied lightly, hauling herself somewhat awkwardly atop the woktop. The place looked bright and clean, if still with a hint of lived-in messyness.
"Well, I'm glad it's still, you know, a regular school," she said as Lily explained. "I wouldn't have wanted to quit. If nothing else, then because even if I can, I don't want to make my living off my ability. No offence, of course," she added hurriedly, "it's just that when you've almost melted your own bloody hands with this thing... and when I think about what I could have done to someone else...." She swallowed, and then decided that this was quite enough. "Anyway, there was... someone I met..." She suddenly blushed, remembering the intense kindness in his eyes, the way she had wanted him to keep being that focused on her, but knowing she didn't have a chance in a million years... "Well, he said that I ought to get to learn the, you know, science about what it is I do. So that I don't mess up. Sounded like a good plan."
