The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"You seem to know where we're going." Victoria raised her brows as she followed Raphael's hand as it motioned the route. She found her eyes travelling up his forearm, though, noticing the bone protrusions coming out near his elbows. She then immediately wondered to herself what his mutant abilities were and how many types of mutants existed.
"Oh, I don't mind anymore." She replied to his suggestion of describing her abilities. Now that she was at the school, she was surrounded by mutants; something she had never done before. Feeling more relaxed in the company, Victoria didn't feel as aprehensive to talk about her abilities.
She began to walk out of the room and into the hallway with Raphael, beginning to describe her plight as best she could recall. "I suppose you could say that I don't know what I am totally capable of. You see, once I realized I was a mutant and how much of a problem my powers would become, all I was able to do was learn to keep my concentration so I didn't use them." She looked sideways at Raphael, noting his reaction and realizing thst she hadn't said what her powers were. "You see, I can pass through solid objects." She waved her hand in front of her as if something were about to happen. "It can be quite problematic when you're trying to walk and next thing you know your leg is a foot underground." She sighed. "I also can turn invisible, apparently." Victoria flexed her fingers in front of her and then drew her hand to her chest. "Also not too helpful when you're in the public eye." Her lips pursed as she twisted it to the side; remembering. "People aren't too forgiving of young mutants."
Raphael nodded, noting that he was not pushing the envelope with his questions on her abilities, and thus forced himself to relax some, and draw his bone blade back into his elbow entirely. He walked in silence for a moment as he listened to Victoria describe her powers. "That's mighty interesting... I can see how you would want to be able to control that... Makes me glad I was always able to control my abilities... mostly." He cast a grin her way, hoping that it would hide his dismay at the first time he learned of his unique abilities. "Yeah... most of the public isn't exactly forgivin'. Know that from personal experience, though there are a few people who find they have a certain 'interest' in a couple of our abilities... That I also know from personal experience." He nodded, closing his eyes for a moment as he turned the corner and started up some stairs. "I might as well be honest and upfront about my abilities since you were generous enough to tell me of your's," He started, opening his eyes again "I heal mighty fast, and I've these blades... which I think you noticed earlier, that come out of my elbows... And I can see life-auras. 'Least that's what I call 'em." He nodded, more to himself than to her, then looked over towards her. "Only really the second one has gotten me in trouble... and out of it." He frowned for a moment as an unpleasant memory passed behind his eyes, then the smile came back as he further relaxed during their walk to the infirmary.
Walking along, Victoria tried to keep her eyes on Raphael. She only turned away with a shy smile when he cast one in her direction. As he went on about his own troubles, Victoria suddenly had this feeling of belonging. Never befor ein her life did she feel that it was okay to have these abilities. Her whole life she had suffered with the broken bones and sudden dissapearances that made everyday living a struggle.
When her mind wandered over her own memories, Victoria suddenly realized that her right foot felt sore. Immediately she was reminded of the episode of her foot becoming stuck in the mall and figured that she might have cracked something open...again. Not wanting to put too much thought into it - psychologically convincing herself that it didn't hurt as they climbed the stairs - she turned her attention back to Raphael.
"Excuse me if I'm being forward," she glanced at Raphael and then looked ahead down the second level corridor, "but what do you mean by being able to see 'life-auras'?" She cast her gaze down to the floor ahead of her, listening for his explanation.
"Hmm..." He responded, stopping at the top of the stairs, a hand moving out towards Victoria's to stop her, just incase she did not notice. "Its difficult to describe. Its an aura... A green haze around people, when I concentrate and turn it 'on'." He tried his best to explain. "Anything living has this green haze around them when I turn it on... Dead folk don't, and inanimate objects don't. I don't know if I really am seeing a person's 'life-aura', but that's what I call it. And its strong enough that I can see this haze through walls... up to a short distance away." He bit his lip a moment, then his eyes started glowing a dull green. "Like now, there's a dull green haze around you, and I could see you if you walked around the corner behind the wall... or rather, I could see your aura, more just a humanoid green fog then." He said, shaking his head a moment as his eyes returned to normal. "Hope that makes some kind of sense... Your foot okay? You seem a little light on it." His last question rolled right off his tongue, as though he did not even realize he had asked it.
Stepping back slightly when Raphael put his hand out in front of her, Victoria turned to look him in the eyes. She always tried to practice looking people in the eye when conversing with them. She listened carefully as he spoke, one eyebrow rising as what she heard sounded very rare indeed. Briefly looking at herself as he mentioned her own green aura she returned with a smile of understanding. She didn't even realize that he had asked her about her foot.
Pondering a moment when his eyes returned to normal, Victoria got an idea. Closing her own eyes, she began to concentrate on the power that she had long since hidden inside herself. "What about now..." Her brow furrowed and her mind began to spin as she felt a warmth rush over her body. When she opened her eyes she smiled, it happened exactly how she wanted. Despite the dizzy spell, Victoria had managed to turn herself invisible. "Can you see my aura now, Raphael?" She reached out and touched his arm to let him know that she was still there in case he couldn't.
Victoria didn't know how long she could hold on like this, but inside she beamed, knowing that concentrating on keeping her powers hidden can work just the same when she wanted to actually use them.
Raphael 'hmmed' softly for a moment after Victoria turned and vanished. "I've never tried on someone who could become invisible..." Though that statement did not stop him from trying now. He closed his eyes for a moment, and the dull green glow returned to them even before he opened them again. He smirked slightly, and nodded. "Yeah, you're still there. More like looking at a spectre though, all aura and no body. Just as though I saw you through a wall, though a little fainter now, but not by much. Guessing there's no hiding your life-aura." He nodded and smiled again. "How long can you keep that trick up?" He asked, shaking the glow from his eyes.
After reading the paper in the kitchen. Lee gets up and begins to continue his search up and down the halls. Walking down the hallways Lee heard two people talking about there gifts. Stoping not to far behind them Lee speaks catching the two off guard after listening to them talk. "So what do we have here? a girl who thinks shes a ghost, and a guy who can see in the dark... I gotta say im pretty sure those could come in handy some time. I mean then again you cant really see no so called life aura if there standing behind you?" Lee takes a bite and finishes up the last of his ham sandwich. Sliding his hand in his pocket he looks over at this confussed lady in front of him and says with slanted smile and faint laugh "I never thought i would say it, but the gift of becoming invisible to you has to be a has got to be a downfal since i wont be able to look at you all the time." and gives her a wink.
Raphael shifted to the side, gaze passing from where Victoria stood to Lee. "It comes in handy plenty of the time, though you are right. I cannot see what's behind me, seeing as how I, like many, don't have eyes in the back of my head." He offered the new comer a smile, "Where are you off to? Perhaps I can give you directions." He then turned his head back towards where Victoria still stood invisible, and gave a little sigh, then looked back towards Lee and waited his answer, unconsciously moving himself slightly between the other two.
Victoria hadn't even noticed another person join them as she turned herself invisible. She had hoped that he hadn't seen her, but he had. She blushed from the compliment but no one could see her. Raphael was doing a fine job of protecting her from the brazen comment, however, which gave Victoria plenty of opportunity to put her concentration into rematerializing her appearance.
While Raphael spoke to Lee, Victoria pressed her eyes shut again. She knew how to surpress her powers, so it was just a matter of focusing on that part of her mind again. As she began to fade back into visibility, Victoria smiled to herself about her triumph. Unfortunately, as she reveled in her ability to shift back to her regular self, Victoria lost her consious thought on remaining solid.
With a gasp and a yelp, Victoria's hands flew above her head as she slipped through the floor like water through the cracks. She immediately closed her eyes, not knowing when she would hit bottom or what would happen when she did. Damn it she swore to herself. She had been doing so well...
At hearing the gasp and yelp Raphael spun on his heel just in time to see Victoria slide through the floor. He uttered a low curse under his breath, and spun on his heel again, eyes a dull glowing green as he looked for her through the floor, and dashed down the stairs, mostly ignoring the dizzying effect moving had while he used this certain power. He completely forgot about Lee, who he left standing there looking smug to himself. "Victoria?" He called out as he hit the bottom of the stairs, looking left and right, a hand to the side of his head. The motion beginning to give him a headache as he in a near frantic panic tried to discern which, if any of the life-auras he could see were her's. He stumbled down the hallway from the direction they had come, and shoved his way into a door, not entirely caring which door he happened to be shoving into, and hoping he was approximately beneath where they had been standing and he would see her standing there, solid, once more.
After watching the unknown female suddenly gasp and seeing the guy take off to what must be to play the hero and catch her seconds befor her beautiful bottom hits the ground Lee starts to think to him self. 'Hmm a guy that can see through walls and guessing even see a person as they are invisible could possibly make this a bit more challanging or even make things easier. Then again we got a female that seems to need a little help in a few different areas...I think i will keep a eye on these to and see what else is up.' Lee walks down stairs seeing how she fell through the floor begins to walk up and down the halls slowly listening for voices finding a door in the hallway being the only one left open peeks in and sees the man looking as if he was concerned for her well being. Thinking that this aint the time to be cought listening to them speak Lee lends up against the wall and bleends into the wall as if he was never there. 'Well this better work. There aint no reason for this guy to use his gift so yeah im good.'
Victoria slipped through quickly, her eyes flying open as she passed through the flooring. She could feel every bump and move as the surfaces rippled over her body and she became free again. Now, Victoria fell freely from the lower levels ceiling. Noting where she was and conscious now of what was going on, Victoria managed to prevent herself from passing through the next level. Instead, she hit the ground hard with a thud. At first she landed on her feet, falling backwards fast. As she fell back to her rump, the rest of Victoria's body followed until the discinct sound of the smack noice eminated when her head hit. In moment she blacked out, cursing herself for her stupidity in her last moment of consciousness.
He uttered a soft curse as he found Victoria lying on the floor. Though the curse was followed quickly by a sigh of relief to see the green aura around her unconscious form. He shook his head a moment, the green glow fading out of his eyes, and knelt beside her. Ignoring the ringing ache in his own head from running while observing life-auras, he carefully slipped his hand beneath her head, feeling for a bump, or blood. After finding neither, Raphael carefully lifted her off the hard floor, and after a moment of dizziness, another rememnant of the combined movement and his life-aura sight, carried her out of the room; completely oblivious to their silent observer. His next destination: DocProf's Infirmary.
He carried her carefully, and steadily, his headache fading and dizziness passed. Up the stairs and around the corner and into the Infirmary... A distinct regret passing through his mind at having to put her down so relatively soon. "Doc? Hey Doc! We need help here!" He called out a moment after entering the room, that stolen moment used to admire Victoria's beauty, and realize just how accurate Lee's comment had been. "DocProf?" He called out again, carrying her further in, and realizing that the Doc was likely just predisposed with another patient.
