The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Well it's all to do with my powers." Ted began. He was still a little uncomfortable discussing his powers because, well, he was still getting used to them and talking about them made him feel a little uncomfortable. But if this girl thought that she might be able to help him then maybe it was worth a try for him to tell her. "My powers allow me to turn into stuffed animals. I'm trying to figure out how to hone them. Right now I don't have much control over them and I tend to spend more time than I like as a stuffed animal. I thought that maybe if I could find something on metamorphoses or what not I'd be able to get back to human faster and easier than I can currently." Ted explained. Surprisingly enough for Teddy, he found it easier for him to talk about it and a lot easier to explain than he thought it would be.
"I found this book called, Metamorphosis by Kafka. It's an old book but it seems like the only one that I've found so far." Ted said, grabbing the book and holding it out for her. Who knows maybe she'll know of a few more books that will help him with his search for information. Ted knew he'd explained it well enough but he wasn't sure that he could find anything other than fictional books that told of what one aurthor thought transforming would be like. No one would really know what it would be like except for him. Unless of course he met someone else that could do similar things.

When Ted explained to her what his mutation was Twyla could feel the smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Images of adorable plushies walking around and dancing filled her mind and Twyla responded with: “Not that is a pretty sweet power....Hmmm, maybe it would be beneficial for you to read something about control too?” She tapped her lips with her index finger as she tried to think of anything she had read that had anything that might help him. She was drawing a major blank, but that wouldn’t stop her from trying to help.
“Have you read the series by K.A. Applegate? They’re called Animorphs, I think. It’s not quite the same thing but they might be some good reads. Otherwise I’d say that it’s helpful, at least it was for me, to read a book or two on meditation and mental control and stuff like that. I can’t remember the title, but when I first discovered my powers I read a book on breathing exercises to do when you’re upset. I don’t know how connected to your emotions your powers are, but I know it helped me in the control department.” This wasn’t the answer she’d been hoping to give and Twyla frowned. “I’m sorry, that wasn’t much help...”
Ted smiled. “No actually that is pretty helpful.” He hadn’t heard of the series she was talking about but it did sound interesting. “I’ve never heard of that person, but if you think it might help I’m willing to check them out. Who knows I might even like the series.” Ted said. He thought for a minute. Control would definitely be helpful with his powers. If nothing else it might give him more ideas on how to get his powers to work more to his advantage than having him work around his powers.
At the moment Ted thought there were too many obstacles for him to overcome before he was able to start taking his powers to the next level. Whatever, that may be. Unfortunately he didn’t know when he was going to breach one of the barriers that he felt was holding him back. Maybe after some more work he would be able to figure that out. “Do you know where those books are?” He was now very interested in reading these books, especially if they would help him in the long run.

“Oh, good.” A bright smile and a surprised tone. At least he appreciated her attempt. Although, he could always be being polite...Twyla decided not to dwell on that possibility and refocused her attention back on Ted. “They’re older. There used to be a television series and all that good stuff to go along with them. It’s a fictional series, obviously, but you never know unless you look. I read them when I was younger and I liked them a lot.” She shrugged, hopefully he’d get something out of whatever book he decided to check out.
No, she didn’t know exactly where they were and she told him as much. “I don’t know where they are pers ay, but I know how to find them. Do want me to help you look?”Yay, more distraction time.
Ted nodded. He was very interested in learning about his power. Even if he didn't know what or how exactly the books would relate and help him get better didn't matter, the only thing that mattered was that he was getting help and getting a lot farther along with her helping him than he would if he was looking for books by himself. "That's cool." the stuffed animal shifter commented. He made a mental note to look up those Animorph series on Youtube when he got the chance.
Teddy looked at the book that he'd already found and thought for a second about her offer. It wasn't that he didn't want her to help him, it was more of the fact that he wasn't sure how much time he had to actually read a lot of books. Although Twyla was offering to help him find something to read, and that didn't seem to happen often. "Ya I wouldn't mind some help looking, since I'm not really even sure where to look." he told her.

Forgetting about all of her homework strewn about the table, Twyla marched off. “Well then, Ted, let us begin our quest.” Very regally (to match the world ‘quest’) Twyla began heading for the fiction section. Applegate, Applegate, Applegate....Hmmmm. A.A.A.A.A. Soon what she assumed to be the correct aisle was found and she led the boy down it. “Applegate, K.A.” She pointed to the row of books on the bottom shelf with a grand gesture. “And there you go my good sir, I hope they serve you well.” With a smile the girl stood back up and moved out of the way so that Ted could view what she had found.
A glance at the clock above one of the reading chairs told Twyla that it was do or die time now–she needed to get those notes done or she’d go to class empty handed. “I hope I was some help, if not I’m sure you’ll manage. I gotta get back to that Bio, ugh. Have a good night and nice to met you, Ted.” Twyla turned to walk back to her table but waited for the boy’s response before she trekked back to the arduous diffusion worksheet.
Twyla had no problems helping Ted search for the book. It was probably because she was just looking to get away from studying a little more. Ted followed Twyla as she led him towards the right spot in the library. A.A.A.A. Where were these books? They didn’t seem to appear anywhere in the library. Just as he was thinking they weren’t going to find anything she stopped and stooped down to see the books hiding there. “Thanks a lot for the help Twyla” Ted said to her. She’d been a great help and he was glad that he’d met her here and able to get some help from her.
Teddy picked out a couple of books. He’d start at the beginning of the series and work his way to the end. Hopefully she was right and he would be able to get some information from these books that would help him grow in his powers. “Sounds like fun. Bye.” Once Ted had gotten the books, he checked them out and left the library deciding it would be better to read them in his room than sitting in the library and reading them.
