The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Johnathon, or "Just John" as he insisted to Aeryn, held open the door, and ushered the travel-worn girl inside the mansion. Aeryn, who had been carefully ignoring John's flirtatious advances, was completely taken aback by the inside of the building. "This is a school?" she asked, taking in the woodwork, fine rugs, chandeliers, and various, beautiful, and very fragile-looking ornaments that decorated the inside of the vast domicile. John came and stood beside Aeryn, hands upon hips as he observed Aeryn's amazement with an odd sense of pride. He nudged her in the ribs after a moment, and grinned at her. "Yeah, it's a school, and it's your school now, so no running." he said, giving her shoulder a gentle push to get her moving again. "I'll show you the kitchen, classrooms, living room, upstairs, and, uh," He took in her current hygenic state. "The bathroom."
Aeryn stuck her tongue out at him, but was quite willing to follow him. She'd probably just get herself lost. John continued talking as he led the way through the halls. "There are other parts of the school that the teachers will have to show you- oh, here's the kitchen." He opened a set of doors, and entered a kitchen that, if possible, was bigger than Aeryn's home had been. John saw her expression, and explained. "We feed a lot of kids here, and, considering who we're teaching, we also keep a lot of supplies in reserve. Hey, Sara! How you doin'?" This last was directed to a girl who was busy peeling an apple, with nothing but her mind. She waved a hand to John, and pointed at Aeryn. "Newbie?" she asked. John nodded, and Aeryn waved to her. "See you around, newbie." Sara said, as John pushed Aeryn through another door in the back, and out onto a different hallway. He paused. "Okay, now, I could show you the classrooms, but you look tired, dirty, and basically like you could use a week's worth of sleep. So, we could continue with the rest of the tour now, or, I could show you to a bathroom, and a clean bed, and we'll finish this later. What's your poison?" Aeryn's reply was immediate. "Bath, and bed, in that order." John laughed, and took Aeryn up the nearest staircase into a long hallway with doors on either side. He showed her a free room first, handing her a key, and then led her to the bathroom. "Okay, I trust you'll now what to do. When you're finished, just use the key, and you can sleep till whenever. No one will disturb you. You remember the way to the kitchen?" Aeryn nodded. "Good, you can get food there if you like, and then just ask for me, and someone will come get me. Then, we'll finish the tour. Welcome to the mansion, Aeryn." he said warmly and began to walk away. Aeryn was about to enter the bathroom when he turned back. "Hey, if you need anything, and I do mean anything," he said with a mischevious gleam in his eyes, "just ask. Okay?" Aeryn managed to roll her eyes, and waved him away. "Thank you, John." She entered the bathroom, fully intending to spend a couple of hours in there.
Much like Aeryn, Davon was shown the basics of the mansion. However, his tour guide was the Doc Prof. He had found Davon in the Kitchen after people scattered. Davon had still been eating when he came to get something for himself, and offered to show him around since the others had other things to do. He didn't even seem to mind Davon's scent.
The first place that he took him was to the infirmary, but it wasn't for a checkup. Instead, he took a hand held scanner and took a few pictures of Davon's feet. He explained that he was going to use the photos to have some shoes made for him.
"I'm glad you found your way here, young man," he said to Davon.
"Like I was telling ... Cassiel, was it? ... I don't know how I came to find this place. After getting off the plane, it was like I both knew where I was going, and at the same time it felt like one of those dreams where you're doing things that make sense, but don't."
The Doc Prof smiled, "Yes, well, the Professor told me you were coming. He had been in Cerebro meditating when you arrived in the city. He saw you at LaGuardia, determined your intent, and gave you gentle nudges which helped you to find the Institute."
They were in one of the upstairs hallways. Davon stopped walking when the Doc Prof said this. "So, he controlled my mind to bring me here." His hands balled themselved into fists.
The Doc Prof turned to him, placing a hand on his shoulder, "No no no, you misunderstand. The Professor doesn't control people unless someone's life is in danger. He's not like that. All he did was give you an idea on which way to turn in your wanderings. That's all."
"I just don't like the idea of people getting inside my head."
"He's not like that," he reiterated, trying to reassure Davon. "Here. This is where you can freshen up, sleep and 'hang out'. Don't worry about paperwork or money now, Davon. You're safe. That's all that matters."
The Doc Prof led him into a dorm room which looked like it hadn't been used in quite a long time. He fussed at the dust, then showed Davon the bathroom and the bed. Davon was taken aback by the windows, which were completely opaque.
"Noticed those did you?" the Doc Prof said, "This room used to belong to someone that disliked daylight as much as you do." Davon's head turned sharply to look at him, but he was busy with a small panel beside the window, "This controls how much light can get through the window. It's like a dimmer switch." He turned it to the right and the evening sunset colors could be seen streaming into the room. Davon stepped back, and the Doc Prof turned it back to the left, making it opaque once more.
The Doc Prof went to the dresser and checked the drawers. "There are some standard issue sweats in here..." he paused mid sentence when he spied Davon's tail peeking out from under his coat. "I hope you don't think I'm being rude, but what else are you hiding under that overcoat, son?"
Davon took his hat off and placed it on the bed. He shrugged his shoulders as he slipped his duster off. Two clawlike hooks lifted off of his shirt, and revealed them to be attatched to a pair of leatherly wings. He looked pensive as he flexed them outwards.
The Doc Prof nodded, saying "Ah." He went back to the drawers and took out the sweats, "You wont be needing these then. I'll have some new ones made with your extra appendages in mind. At any rate, I'm pleased to welcome you here, and I hope you come to feel comfortable. If you get hurt, I can fix you up in the infirmary. I'll have someone bring up the clothes. In the mean time. Why don't you take a shower and relax some?"
Davon was rather overwhelmed with everything. He simply said, "Thank you."
After the Doc Prof left, Davon did just that, reveling in the hot water.
*Tricity pulled her hair up on the top of her head, putting a tie in it. She dodged out of the way as a boy named scott ran down the hallway and turned a corner.* "Uh, you'll have to do that a lot." *She joked, half laughing and looking around.* "So, this is it. All the bedrooms are upstairs, kitchen and dining area are down the hall to the left. Oh, and there are several living rooms throughout the house, but we mainly use the one down here as you can see some of the toys leaking from the living room and into the hallway." *Tricity said, pointing down the hall. She gave him a map and shrugged.* "It isn't too hard, I'm sure you'll get lost at some point, but there's always someone around to help. On a serious note, we are having a viral problem in the mansion...as you can see some of the hallways being blocked off by white sheets. It's a virus that is attacking mutants. You'll need to have a medical appointment with the DocProf. He'll take care of you. We are dealing with the problem as soon as possible, so excuse our appearance for now. A lot of the residents are staying in the Danger Room until the whole of the mansion is inhabitable again. There are some that have been checked out and given the anti-bodies and so, they are in their quarters again. Do you have any questions? I know I'm throwing a lot at you..."
He was taken back by the beauty of the mansion. He had never seen anything so fancy in his life. "Yeah..." He trailed off... He then regained his train of thought and said, "I would like to study in criminal justice. Sign me out for the financial aid and the work study program. I'd like to start as soon as possible." He told her as they walked through the mansion. He took the map and listened carefully to what she had said. "Doc Prof...ASAP. Ok, I think I got it. Thanks for everything Delilah."
'Not a problem. The DocProf will be in the infirmary. If he isn't there, one of the assistants can give you a check up to make sure you have the anti-virus. So how'd you hear about us here?" *She asked, taking a seat on one of the couches that was in the hallway.*
Efren sat down on a seat across from her. "Wow, what kind of virus is happening at the school?" He paused then asked. "Well, I heard about the school from many sources. But I first heard about them on the news, when the grounds where attacked and destroyed. I became interested and looked it up on the internet. It looked like a fine school, but then I heard rumors that it was a training school for mutants. So after I read that, I phoned you up and decided to attend."
"Yea, it's hard to get correct information from the news about mutants nowadays." *Tricity put her clipboard to the side and crossed her legs to turn toward him.* "The virus, we aren't too sure about...only that it is meant to kill mutants. We suspect a man called General Whitmore released it, but we don't know. Speaking of which, if you leave the mansion, we have a curfew until this is all figured out. Since you are older than 18, just sign out and in when you come and go and try to check in every once in a while so we know you're safe, ok?"
"Thats terrible! What kind of monster would to that to mutants? I mean, I know things are bad between human and mutants, but I had no idea it has rose to this point." He shuffled a bit in his seat. "That sounds fair."
"He's a monster that's threatened the lives of many mutants and has captured... a few." *Tricity choked on the last bit of words as she spoke about how Whitmore had kidnapped mutants off the streets. She swallowed hard at the thought because she didn't want to think about Orion at the moment while trying to welcome Efren.* 'Yea, so...we just want everyone to be safe."
Efren was stunned for a moment by the news of the captured mutants. "I understand." He paused to think for a moment...not wanting to be insensitive. "Does anyone know the location of Whitmore...was there an attempt to rescue?"
"We have an idea of where he is, but we want to get more information on him before stampeding into his facility. What he's doing is implanting green stones in mutants and then once he finds a particular red stone, he plans to use it to awake the green ones. With the green stones in the mutants and his possession of the red stone...he will be able to control them through their mutations." *She sighed heavily.* "He's come to the mansion a few times to try and find the red stone, which isn't here, and capture others. One of the mutants that was captured, named Kaine, managed to escape the facility...but he has a piece of the green stone in his arm. If the red stone is found before we can get it, I don't know what Kaine will do, nor the other mutatns Whitmore has captured. It could get pretty bad."
He took a minute to absorb the information, sighed heavily and said, "Oh my God. I can't believe something like this is happening. If theres anything I could do to help out, let me know. I would like to help in anyway I can."
"Hey who knows, we might need that super strength of yours!" *Tricity said, smiling and nudging him in the arm with her shoulder.* "Are you hungry or anything? If you'd like to go pick out your room and settle down, I could leave you to that?"
His stomach rumbled as she said "Food". He laughed nervously, "Food sounds pretty good right now..." He was interupted by her cell phone. "Or not." He smiled.
