The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"I'd be glad to, but on the condition that if I destroy wherever we're going that I am not held accountable for damages!"
"Oh dear. Breaking new ground, are we?" Shin replied, smile skewed by the speculation. The mansion gardener these days really didn't like it when his hard work was reduced to rubble... or if the need for terraforming became a reality. This wasn't like Sim City, where a single bulldozer could smooth out the land, and trees grew up in the blink of an eye. If Mark's power truly were that dangerous... yes. There was always that location, wasn't there? Into Gaia... the ashen area Ghost and him had burned down a long time ago in his early mansion days... right there. That'd be a place nobody would care about losing, or seeing remodeled.
>>"So, where're we going, Shin?"
"I know just the location..." Shin took one final sip of his tea, then rose. He moved to lead Mark up and out of the kitchen, toward the mansion's main grounds and the location the lair of thorns used to occupy.
In the hallway, they passed one, count her, one pretty woman. Shin waved to Hazel, the mansion's resident math teacher. "On the way to class?" He asked.
The strawberry blonde 31-something nodded. "Gotta teach those numbers what's what."
As Mark and Shin moved through the mansion to the location to where Mark's power of terraforming could be seen, Shin greeted a woman along the way. She was rather gorgeous as well, but then again, Mark always viewed all women as gorgeous.
"Gotta teach those numbers what's what."
"Right, right. Good luck with that!"
"And who is this?"
Mark's left eyebrow rose as he realized that he was brought into a conversation. A small smile appeared as he wanted to shout "MARK, ACE ATTORNEY!" and pull off a wiggly index finger in front of him, but that'd be rather pointless. Still, being like a videogame character would be amusing, not only to himself, but maybe to others around him.
"I'm Mark, Apprentice Attorney." Why not be simple. He looked at Shin for his approval and back at the woman who had said something reguarding numbers and showing them "what's what." "Yeah, those numbers, they never seem to add up, am I right!?"
A small laugh would ensue as Mark noticed the idiot he had become.

"Indeed," Hazel smiled devilishly. "So foolish, counting on digits." She wiggled her fingers in jest, then extended a hand towards Mark. "It's nice meeting you, Mr. Attorney. Are you planning to stay here at this lil old mansion?" She looked towards Shin for confirmation.
Shin was silent on that matter, simply smiling at the situation. He had some sort of feeling Mark had really wanted to make a spectacle of himself. And Shin had really wanted to see that happen. Still, math puns? Weren't they grand? He couldn't think of any others off the top of his head, but... after a second, he cut in.
"I'm just showing Mark around, Hazel. I'm not sure if he wants to stay here or not. He's welcomed to, if he decides to later... well, I'll let you know."
"Ah, yes. Well, I really must get to class. Good bye." Hazel smiled, then left.
Shin turned back to Mark. "This way." He led them out the front doors of the mansion, across the grounds, to the ashen remains of the thorn bush Shin and Ghost had torched so long ago. He gestured towards it like a tour guide. "Into Gaia~"
