The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Codey looked up at the large building. Wow. Kylie was right. She had read about it somewhere and talked about it with Codey once or twice. Quite the amount of time before she left. It was odd that Codey even remembered it. Well thank god it actually exsisted. She claimed she had read the article in a Myth book or something like that. Codey had just recently finished unpacking his belongings and personalizing his new room. He was now wandering the grounds of the school. It was gorgeous around the school. The grass was an emerald green, and the light morning dew made it shine under the sun. Some of the leaves on the trees were turning a light orange color, showing that autumn was soon to come. And the building was simply stunning. The architecture was of an older style, which gave the building more of an exquisit look.
Xavier’s Sister School for Gifted Youngsters. The front sign was a bronzey plate, which was bolted onto a large rock. Codey ran his fingers over the print. He then let out a sigh and walked back towards the building. There was a small wooden bench seated under a tree beside the frontdoor staircase. From what he could tell, if one was sitting on the bench, someone standing by the staircase wouldn't be able to se them. But, the person sitting on the bench would have total view of the stairs. Seemed like the perfect place to sit. You could creep other people without them noticing.
The bench creeked when Codey sat himself down. It sent shivers up and down his spine. Noises like that gave him chills. But, other then the occasional creek, the bench wasn't so bad. It wa wide enough for Codey to pull his knees to his chest. Which is exactly what he did. He wrapped his hands around his shins and pulled his legs in closer, then placed his chin onto his knee cap. Other students exited and entered the building. Which kept Codey somewhat entertained. It was surprising how many other people had super human powers.
Kylie slid her hands into the rough back pockets of her jeans, the same pair that wear nearly un-wearable at this point. But the torn messy holes that rested on her legs clearly showed that they were vintage. No matter how brittle the fabric and seams of the pants were, they held comfort. A certain feeling of home in the way that they hugged her lower half, almost like the soft warm sheets of her bed wrapped around her body. Of course when you've ran out of your home, setting out for a foreign place even a simple pair of jeans are capable of stirring up such warm and cozy feelings.
Slowly she slung one foot in front of the other, taking her time. The environment was amazing. The marvelous decorations that held a certain royal air to them, the stone flooring beneath her feet, the ancient smell that hung prominent in her nose. It seemed like this place held many untold tales, memorable moments, a long history. It gave Kylie a tingly sensation, something that almost seemed alien to her. It wasn't normal to be excited about this all, was it? Kylie found herself mentally asking these questions as she admired her surroundings.
Having spent a few days within the institute, Kylie was given the opportunity of learning her way around though it felt more like an adventure then anything. She never quite knew exactly what she would find at the end of each twisting corridor, around every turn. Though her nose, ears, and eyes gave her an idea it was not always as it seemed. It proved as something calming, realizing more and more with each step she wasn't alone in this world. It was somewhat reassuring in itself something to help her cope with what seemed to be many sudden changes.
But it seemed she was being lead forward today, almost like a pull dragging her towards something important, but she couldn't quite place her finger on what it was. Maybe it was the faint somewhat familiar scent that lingered around the building, or perhaps what felt like an inner instinct. But they both crossed path to the same place outside along the school grounds. Kylie lifted her head, ever so slightly, inhaling deeply as a collection of scents mingled together. Though this time, she tried to select and single out the defiant one as she continued to walk to what seemed as a possible source.
At the front of the school, there rested a few benches along with many trees and a large tasteful sign that appeared to reflect the schools old feel nicely, matching the overall theme well. As Kylie came before the entrance door she placed her hand on it gently, giving it a small push just enough for her to creep outdoors without raising a ruckus. Luckily the door opened silently, despite its old look. Spinning around and closing the door slowly behind her, Kylie continued to walk forward slowly standing before the steps. One thing was for certain, the scent became raging as if it were just beneath her nose. But where exactly was it coming from?
After a good half hour of fiddling with his iPod, tugging at his shoelaces and trying to get his side swept bang to stay in one place, Code finally let out a sigh of pure boredom. He thought about being social and trying to make some friends. But that was out of the question. Codey had something like "social phobia." Because of all the taunting at school, he's always careful on his actions, he doesn't want people to judge him negatively. He let his lanky legs drop to the dirt below. Placing a hand on the small of his back, he cracked his spine. The grounds were quiet. Everyone was inside, eating or something. So, when the front doors opened and shut, he made him just about jump out of his skin.
He walked slowly towards the side of the staircase, trying to get a look at the stranger. Her long brown hair bounced behind her head and travelled down her back. It looked oddly farmiliar. The jeans that were wrapped around her lower body looked farmiliar too. There were rips and tears all over the front and back of the legs, and the seems on the sides were just about spilt open. But what really caught his attention was the green and blue ink scrawled on the back of her thigh. "Codey was here; 05.24.08" The letter Y was backwards, and the ink was smuged to the right, signaling that a left handed person had wrote it. Codey has signed the strangers pants.
She continued to walk. Apparently she didn't notice Codey. He fumbled with the sliver dog whistle around his neck. Codey ducked down under the marble side of the staircase. Just incase it wasn't who he thought it to be. The whistle made his mouth fill with a metalicy taste. He hadn;t used the whistle in atleast two months. He had used it alot, just to annoy Kylie, but after awhile it had gotten boring. Codey blew hard into the tunnel of the whistle, which would let out a high pitched squeal to one that was sensitive to the sound. His eyes leveled just over the side of the railing, watching the girl.
Kylie let her foot slide along the stone step, gladly taking her time as she did so. The sound of her converse resisting the floor would've been hardly audible to any other normal person, but to Kylie it was just like the tapping of shoes on a hardwood floor. Though it may of appeared as if she were moving slower then a snail, the surrounding air was what interested her most instead of the actual movements. Sniffing like a deranged dog, she tried hard to catch the distinct source of what seemed to be a scattered scent.
Even if the girl had lived her life with the abilities of a wolf, she had only just recently realized of their presence. Not having known about these gifts, as some would say, she wasn't given the opportunity to train them appropriately. So when it came to pinpointing the exact location of something as such, Kylie didn't have all that much luck. Especially when it was like paint splattered everywhere.
Suddenly Kylie heard a small tinking noise, like a metal object against another. And with that noise she jerked her head in the direction, causing her brown waves to bounce erratically some strands of hair whipping across her face. Squinting her eyes, she failed to see anything when the unpleasant sound met her over sensitive ears.
Something Kylie could clearly recognize as a dog whistle. The sound always bothered her, more in an annoying sense then anything else. But one thing was for certain, the direction it came from was overly clear. With that her legs picked up swiftly, carrying her closer to it. Oddly enough, with the noise came the scent but this time it was far more potent. As Kylie stalked around the corner of the staircase, she saw something she couldn't believe to be real. It was then that the familiar scent made sense, drawing all to the conclusion that the man before her was indeed Codey. Kylie's eyes fell wide as she struggled for the word. ".. Codey?" she managed at last, staring in pure shock.
As soon as Codey blew the whistle, Kylie’s head whipped around. Somewhat startled from the sudden movement, Codey stepped backwards to be fully hidden by the staircase railing. He could hear her feet coming closer and closer. Codey peeked over the edge of the stone wall. Where’d she go? He let the whistle drop back down to his chest, making a jingly noise when it hit his sweater zipper. It felt like someone was watching him, but he hadn’t seen Kylie. “.. Codey?” He flipped his hand to the side, facing the girl. This caused his bang to (finally) land in the correct spot.
Codey simply nodded his head. He wasn’t much of a vocal person. Turning to face her, he shoved his hands into his pocket. The inside of the pocket wasn’t soft and fleecy like it was when he had first bought it. It was around 3 years old. The dark navy color had faded to a dark greyish-blue. He looked at his converse, which were spinning in the dirt, kicking up dust. “Hi there,” his face was still downwards. He had a strong urge to say ‘I missed you’ but thought he shouldn’t. It could make things awkward.
He thought she would have run somewhere to be alone and hate herself. Like any other run away teenage girl. It was kind of ironic that she had been his only friend, other then his brothers, and they had both held irregular powers and ran to the same place. He continued to stare at his shoes, a bad habit of his. Codey wasn’t a person to make eye-contact either. “How’re you? I haven’t seen you in… a long time.”
Kylie's lips began to pull up as she spoke, causing her to smile delicately. Oddly enough, his voice put an instant ease to her feelings. The sudden rush into a new environment, and what seemed to be a new body, now felt like a gentle move into a more comfortable position within her life. It seemed foreign how something as simple as hearing Codey's voice was enough to calm her in ways nothing else could, but then again nothing was ever as it seemed since she discovered her 'new life'.
The eyes of a wolf began to study Codey's shy nature giving Kylie the urge to laugh, but held it back with much effort as it manifested in a wider smile that spread across her face. "Aye, a long time," she said through the smirk. He still looked as the same old Codey, his hair misbehaving more often then not his eyes glued to his shoes. It did more for her than any old pair of jeans could. "I'm sorry I bolted on ye without sayin' much," she hesitated before continuing with her words. " Wasne going to wait around for Ma an' Da's reactions," she began to trail off. She hadn't given much thought to how she left her parents, but now that it passed her mind the smile dropped somewhat her eyes falling out of focus.
A few moments passed as she became aware of her surroundings once more, her eyes darting back towards Codey. She always found his shyness to be rather childish, like when a mother drops her child off for the first day of school while the kid would cling to her leg hiding. Alot of things about Codey seemed that of a child, from his physical features to his mentality. It always managed to make Kylie smile, it was definitely one of her favorite traits of the boy.
"Still won't look a person in the eye, will ye," Kylie said at last as her lips pulled back from her teeth revealing a wide toothy grin. Being as caught up in the moment as she were, Kylie's mind ignored the fact that Codey as well was now within the same institute as herself, a place for gifted children. A place for mutants. She swayed lightly from side to side. All that was on her mind was the fact that her best friend was now standing before her.
Kylie's smile grew wider everytime she spoke. Her words were coated with a thick Scottish accent, unlike Codey's. His accent wasn't thick and his words weren't pronounced with it. He sounded more like a kid who grew up with a Scottish accent, but picked up a little of an American or Canadian accent. Andhis words were well pronounced, every syllable well said, without him sounded like a basket case. It made him sound like a kindergartener. If you could hear past his deep voice.
She mentioned running out on him without much say. And not wanting to see her parents reaction. "Oh, it's fine. I left the day after you did, same fashion too." He lifted his head slightly, enough for it to not look like he was awkwardly holding his head up. Her smile had faded momentarily, but had regained its shape moments later. This made him smile. If you could classify his smile as a grin. Only the left side of his lip rises in a grin, making it look like a smirk. "I didn't wait for my parents reaction. Although I bet Clark told 'em.."
Codey's eyes fell back down to his shoes. Kylie mentioned the fact that he could never look someone in the eye. He could feel his cheeks flush. "Not true.." He lifted his head and looked to Kylie. "So I see the pen didn't wash out of the jeans." The ink was labeled washable, and jeans had been worn and washed numerous times since May 24, 2008. Such a stupid topic for small talk. Although it didn't show on the outside, Codey was dancing with excitement. He had found his best friend again. Codey has never been one to show his true emotions either. His life would be hell of a lot different if he did.
A small giggle escaped through the open smile in Kylie's mouth, defeating her original purpose. "Naw, I suppose thats some faulty advertising," she said as she recalled the day Codey had left his mark. One would think that a pen labeled 'Washable' would have washed from fabric within two years of use. You just can't trust what people advertise now a days. Then again one can't trust many things now a days. Kylie took his words into speculation, "Oh it's fine. I left the day after you did, same fashion too." Then it hit her. Codey was a mutant.
After feeling like an utter idiot, Kylie's smile lowered as she looked up to his face. No physical changes were visible, he appeared as the exact same Codey she knew from a few days previous. It must've been something mental, something within his mind. Unless the boy were as she was, having the ability to take form of something else entirely. But wouldn't she have caught a slight smell of said creature lingering on him? All that emitted from him was the faintest aquatic scent.
"So.. yer one of.. us then," she said with uncertainty. Kylie didn't know wether it were a good thing, or a bad thing. Internally it felt normal, more of an intuition then anything else, but at the same time her mentality told her it was horrible. If mutants weren't frowned upon Kylie wouldn't of had to run. She wouldn't of felt the need to hide herself. It was definitely something she had never given much thought to before.
Kylie's eyes made their way down from Codey's face to her arm, where the set of weaving designs were tattooed into her skin. There still were a lot of things she hadn't given much thought to besides mutations. Thankfully the idea of her best friend also sharing this with her caused a calm feeling to wash over her. It was something she just needed in direly. And now that she had it, things felt far less alien.
She giggled. “Naw, I suppose that’s some faulty advertising.” Codey nodded his head slightly. “Prolly.” Probably. One of the many words he couldn’t properly pronounce. Hospital, animal, spaghetti, film, Christmas, shoulder, elephant, petal, library, and the list goes on. This made Codey’s crooked grin fall. What an idiot. Can even pronounce simple words. Even though it was just Kylie, he felt somewhat embarrassed. And even ashamed. Not being able to speak clearly… He had gotten used to it, but for some reason it hit him like a firm fist here.
Kylie’s smile faded as she began to examine his face. It was almost like she was checking for some sort of damage or scars. Codey hadn’t gotten into any situations. What was she looking for? He was exactly the same as he was in Scotland. Except for the fact that he could control a whole freaking element. So, almost the same. Kylie had developed some markings though. A crazy, vine like tattoo wrapped up and around her arm in a bolded black color. “Nice tattoo,” he said quietly before lowering his head again.
The black cloth of his converse was covered in sand and dirt, making them look older then they were. He started rubbing them together in attempt to wipe off the dirt. "So.. yer one of.. us then," Kylie said, sounding almost shy on the subject. “Hmm?” Codey mumbled lifting his head back to her. “Oh, ya. Water control,” his voice was oddly casual, especially considering they were talking about mutant powers. He dropped his head back to his shoes. A low rumble escaped his stomach. “Oh… wanna go eat?”
Before Kylie had time to answer, Codey had grabbed her hand and started pulling her along behind her. Whether she liked it or not, they were getting food. He didn’t remember how much he had towered over her. She was just about 5’8”, while Codey stood at an abnormal 6’4”. He led her up the staircase and into the building. After being here a mere three days, Codey knew the route to the kitchen like the back of his hand. To put it bluntly, he was a pig. He ate everything, anything and all the time. Kylie probably wouldn’t find it to surprisingly that he was going for food.
