The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jewel sneaked around another pile of crates, careful to be as quiet as possible, keeping her weapons ready for a fight. She also used her senses to detect any movement, even though she new she couldn't possibly be lucky enough to find any kind of jewelry on their opponents. She also was hoping silently that the one she knocked out was the only one who could copy her powers. She couldn't be sure. She followed the sounds of her teammates fighting, hoping to catch up with them in time. She could hear another light bulb going out, and carefully avoided the rest of them. Staying in the shadows, she stopped in the cover of the last crate and carefully peeked out from behind it. She was just a few steps short from the light of another light bulb, but still in the shade. She arrived in time to see Kaz cut his hands and thus detect something - or someone - invisible. The third assailant. Jewel frowned - this seemed rather difficult. Not only silent and invisible, the mysterious person was apparently very strong and agile too. So was Kaz, for that matter. The metal on her arms started moving before she could think her plan through. Some things were clear for her: one, both of her teammates were much better at combat than she was, so if anyone had a chance for taking the invisible man out, it was either Alex or Kaz. Two, they were not doing that well either. She could see Kaz's blood staining the floor and the opponent. Good enough. Time to glitter and shine. "... here you're the best target since the light reflects off of all that easily..." Stepping out into the bright circle of the closest light bulb, Jewel turned the metal inside out - now the brightest of bright silver covered her arms from her fingertips to her elbows, the collar was back on her neck, and so was the hairpin. The light reflecting on all the metal surfaces and the tiny stones lining her wove her figure into a web of light, hard to make out the details, but definitely confusing to the eye. "Hey, you!" She suspected the assailant was now between her and her teammates. Raising her hand, a string of silver, coiling out like a snake, bit into the empty air above the blood stains, and as soon as it hit something that felt solid, it started weaving itself around it. Jewel didn't have the strength or the powers to restrain the invisible opponent for long - but she sure as hell could annoy it. And buy them some time.
The blades stopped for a moment in the air as if something was making them float. Then they disappeared into the thin air, engulfed by the invisibility that was protecting the third assailant. The molecule manipulator blinked confused and unsure if the blades had hit the target or they were caught before they could cause any damage. Before she could concern more, crimson red sparkled in front of her eyes like small rubies as the liquid traveled trough the air. Just like her knives their sparkle lasted a few seconds in the light provided before disappearing. Her eyes searched for Kaz but the young man had already disappeared from her side to attack his opponent.
Opponent.
Her eyes snapped back to where her own rival should have been laying down but found only the empty space... and a trail of blood left as he had crawled away.
"Hey you!"
Jewel's voice caught her attention. Alexandra watched only for a moment of the woman as she was calling the attention of the third assailant. Then her attention moved to the path the two rows of crates were creating... and the trail of blood. In the next moment, the molecule manipulator was taking off at top speed, following the trail of blood. As she passed the remains of her staff, they disappeared only to appear in the molecule manipulator's hand as she stopped once she had reached the end of the path.
Blood seemed to brighter in color as the light Jewel provided shone brightly around the corner. Tightening the grip on the remaining half of her staff, Alexandra silently stepped away from the cover the shadows were offering. Her lips arched slightly upward to smile as she watched her opponent with his hand extended toward Jewel. A second later, the metal of her staff was making contact with his head, a loud thud as he fell unconscious to the ground signaling the defeat.
Sighing, Alexandra dropped the metal from her hand next to her defeated assailant, blue eyes searching past Jewel to where a thread of silver was wrapping itself around the invisible being. A hand waved in the air as concrete rippled under the power of the molecule manipulator. Like a snake, the grey material wrapped itself around the attacker's feet. Once it provided a trap good enough to hold him, the molecule manipulator increased the molecular cohesion again. Blue eyes looked for Kaz, urging him to finish this.

He was low to the ground in a bad position, at least considering what he and the others were up against. He had gotten away from the things first attack, it had be fast, fast enough to feel the air move past him, and fast enough that Kaz knew another strike would be fast in coming. Kicking his legs from under him he twisted onto his shoulder, he went into a quick twist on his shoulder and kicked his legs out. The motion allowed Kaz to throw off the attacker for a moment as he felt what he thought to be a low kick brush past his hip lightly, while he felt a heel smash into something solid. Because it didn't deform much with the blow and the direction the kick had come in from, Kaz assumed he had just struck the thing's back.
Kaz pushed off the ground with his hand and threw his legs skyward, twisted and landed lightly on his feet. His palm stun a bit, but he ignored it, he was use to being uncomfortable, but it helped that Jewel had just made herself a prime target and reflected light in his direction. He barely noticed the other bit she was doing. While the shine and glittering of her jewelery distracted Kaz, and the assailant as well it seemed, the girl caught it's leg with a tendril of metal. It began to wrap around, and Kaz hoped, hinder it's movements, though it was only a guess before it began to shimmer and disappear in moments.
Alex it seemed had finished with her business and pitched in to help as the floor rose and covered the feet of the assailant. Kaz smirked as he shifted, skin and hair darkening to black instantly as his jaw and face grew a stunted muzzle. He flexed his hands quickly and let blood gather in his palms one last time before he forced the wounds to close and stop bleeding (though they would not begin to heal until later). He threw the blood again and with his enhanced vision, which also caused the entire area to become bright as day and crystal clear, he saw where each drop of crimson went and stopped. He knew where the assailant was exactly and could tell how it stood.
A silver-blue streak rushed forward and consumed the assailant. Kaz's foot moved quickly and broke not only the cement Alex had manipulated, but the thing's ankles, tibia of the right leg, and femur of the left, while his arms blurred and broke both wrists, crushed the forearms and shattered the shoulders. As suddenly as he had begun he stopped. He held the thing by it's throat, just under the jaw, making it's neck and spine support it's body while Kaz held it off the ground at arms length. Each break had been sickeningly loud and deliberate, but none would be fatal, though if it was a real person, without some very good care by a healer, it would be completely crippled for the rest of it's life.
Kaz smiled as he looked up to where he knew Luke to be, his completely red eyes smiled. He allowed himself to let out a soft, low, throaty laugh that was almost a growl.
Jewel was aware of the 'thud' of a defeated assailant behind her, and glanced over her shoulder to flash a quick smile at Circe. By the time she turned her attention back to their invisible last opponent, the floor was already rising to capture his feet. Just in time. The light bulb above her head, that gave all the glitter-and-shine to her little performance, went out without a sound. Well, she did what she could. She could make out Kaz across the open space that was probably their opponent. No doubt now he's in one place, Kaz will be able to.... WHAT THE H....?! ... "As for my abilities, they won't be used unless I feel it absolutely necessary to same someone's skin. Or I finally get bored enough." ... Well, that explains it. Kaz got bored. And unlike normal people, who show their boredom by yawning or complaining, he decided to turn into... that. For a split second, the thought that he might be another assailant crossed Jewel's mind, but it was just a panic reaction and didn't make any sense anyway. It was just that Kaz never told them what his abilities were... and never warned them about the sight either. Duh. Pulling back the tendril of silver, she watched with wide eyes as Transformed Kaz hit the invisible person with deadly force and aim, and she winced as she heard the bones crack and splinter. Ew. And then he was holding the poor thing that was once their invincible attacker by the neck. Jewel took a half step forward, but stopped just in time, reminding herself that yelling at Kaz in this form might not be a good idea. Even though he was really taking the 'not killing' thing to the extreme.
Another bulb went out, making the light that reflected of Jewel to die out. The molecule manipulator continued to stare at Kaz, urging him to finish the thing faster. And, apparently he had decided to do so, changing to a slightly different thing.
Molecules flew from under her grasp, concrete shattering along with the assailants legs. Then arms. Sighing, she waved her hand; pieces of concrete moved once again they were in her grasp, this time covering the dent created.
Deactivating her mutation, Alexandra folded her arms, as she moved forward and stopped besides Jewel, blue eyes trailing over the broken figure of the last assailant then moved on to Kaz. Show off. “That’s enough Kaz. Put that… thing down.” Unfolding her arms, she shifted her eyes to where the god room was supposed to be. “Luke, I believe we’re done here.” she stated. Blue eyes glanced above where the light bulbs were. And they didn’t even need half an hour. The hint of a smile touched her lips.

Kaz's gaze fell on Jewel as he caught her movement in the corner of his eye. She had seemed as if ready to say something when she suddenly stopped and shut her mouth. It bought a smirk to his face as he continued to hold the rag doll above the floor effortlessly. It was a satisfied smirk, but he thought the girl could be a bit more forward and not so submissive. Alex though didn't seem to be nearly as reserved as Jewel.
She stood near Jewel with her arms crossed over her chest and gave him an order. At least that what it seemed to Kaz that she was doing going off her posture, body language, tone and choice of words. He stared at her for a few moments as she spoke to Luke and looked in that direction. Kaz narrowed his eyes, turned and tossed the broken assailant at Alex, not too hard though. Glaring, "Are you my friend? Have you earned my respect? Are you my equal? No, no, and no. So tell me, what gives you the right to tell me what to do? Hmm? Until you've done one of those three, do not try to give me an order again child." He spoke in a sneer before turning and heading towards the door out of the Danger Room.
Near the doorway Kaz stopped. "Jewel you asked what my abilities were..." A silver-blue blur covered Kaz for a few heartbeats as the crates near and around him exploded from the multitude of shockwaves sent from his fist, leg, knee and elbow strikes, without him moving from his spot. "That's just a taste." Unlike the last assailant who had made the crate seem to implode with the impact while leaving some of it intact, Kaz had leveled the crates to splinters when they had exploded with the force of the blows. He would wait a few more moments to see if Luke made his way down, before stepping out of the room and into the hall.
So Kaz decided to throw the body at her. It sailed trough the air, rotating slightly as it did so and landed a few steps away from her position. She didn’t even blink. Very impressive, really. Glancing with a hint of disgust at the broken body of the assailant for a moment, Alexandra shifted her eyes to Kaz. Wasn’t he a drama queen? Sighing slightly as she watched him step away and stop near the door and showed them a taste of his powers. Looking for attention was the first impression that this man had left.
Blue eyes were locked on his figure, unimpressed written all over her face as the molecule manipulator walked toward him. “Friend? Respect? Really?” she asked half smiling as she stopped near the place where he was standing. “To tell you the truth Kaz… We’ve barely met. So I don’t give a rat’s ass about you. ” Her head tilted to the side as she blinked lazily. “And my favorite. Equals?” The molecule manipulator laughed slightly as she spoke the last word. “As a matter of fact, yeah, I think we’re all equals around here. Because we are all here, giving the same test. If you were so much better then why are you here? And speaking of tests, I think we were supposed to work as a team. You know, the thing Luke mentioned before starting the session? But since you think you’re so much better than anyone else, you weren’t supposed to listen, right? Cause everything you did here… you don’t want to be part of a team. You just want to be the little star of the show. The countless advices, taking out our opponents, you didn’t do any of these to help us.” Alexandra let the air out of her lungs slowly. “I’m not impressed. Or scared, or whatever you were looking for.”
Sighing, she moved again, and walked past Kaz, stopping a few steps later, glancing back over her shoulder. “Tell Luke I’ll swing by later to ask how I did.” Her head moved with the intention to turn around again and start walking but with a smile, blue eyes trailed back to Kaz. “Oh, and it’s not an order.” A friendly smile appeared on her face as she glanced at Jewel and continued to linger on her lips as she shifted her eyes back at Kaz. “Well, see you around.” Turning around, the molecule manipulator walked toward the exit.
The whole thing was getting ridiculous. Kaz got under her skin long before the fight started, and he was still at it, with the all-knowing smirk and the little demonstration of his powers. "Jewel you asked what my abilities were... That's just a taste." And the last straw. Jewel experienced one of the rare moments of in her life when she really, truly, honestly felt like hitting someone. But, being the well educated young lady she was, she hesitated for a moment, and Alex beat her to it. Jewel listened with the frown slowly giving way to a smirk on her face as Alex did her little speech. She couldn't have agreed more to what was said. A spark of admiration was evident in her eyes; even though Kaz proved to be a hard one to team up with, she felt like Alex was not such a bad choice after all. She had a spirit. Well, too much of it, at the moment. “Tell Luke I’ll swing by later to ask how I did... Well, see you around.” She returned the smile, just a second before she realized Alex was leaving the room. Kaz was about to do that too. Heck, if she didn't do something about it she would be the only one left of the team by the time Luke got down from the god room. Where was he, anyway?... "Hey!" she walked over to the two of them, carefully stepping over the body of their former opponent "Alex, c'mon. You think he's really worth the effort?" glancing at Kaz, she smirked. Showoff. "Let's just hang on till Luke gets here. We did complete the mission, would be a waste to blow it now." Looking at Kaz, she planted her hands on her hips. She was not really angry. Just shaking her head in disbelief, with the shadow of a smirk. "And you, Master of Subtlety, would you mind gracing us with your presence for another minute or two? If we are not a team yet, we might as well try and act like it."

Had the three members from the room below been able to see Luke's expression they would have noticed the very obvious frown. Had the three of them completed the mission? Yes, yes, and yes. Had they worked as a team?
Sighing to himself, Luke stood up and walked to the exit door. Stepping out he descended the stairs and made his way across the warehouse to where the three stood facing each other. "Computer, end program." Luke said evenly, keeping his frustration completely in check as the warehouse disappeared from view, replaced by the sparse interior of the danger room.
"OK, let's make this quick so that we don't ruin the moment." Luke spoke with a tight smile as he turned his sunglass covered gaze back and forth, focusing on one after the other. "Jewel, you're obviously not the most experienced in combat situations but you were willing to take instruction from the other members of your team that knew more about what they're doing. Everyone has to start somewhere and a willingness to listen and learn is one of the most important skills anyone can have."
Giving his thoughts and opinions on each persons performance was part of what Sam had wanted him to do, even if he didn't like it. He was dreading the last one he had to give but for now, "Alexandra, you worked with your team, adapting to the situation as best you could with the information that was provided. You may have been caught off guard, but you recovered nicely."
And now for the big man. Obviously his file and power abilities were going to he to be updated with what Luke had just seen. He really was quite a powerful mutant but Luke really didn't care for his attitude. "Kaz, you pulled off the mission easily. You overpowered your opponents and rendered them unconscious apparently without even breaking a sweat. To be blunt, you're probably one of the most powerful mutants I've ever seen, and I don't give a damn. The X-Men work as a team. If you're assigned to work with someone, you respect them as a fellow team member. You could crush me if you and I got into a fight and for solo work that might be fine, but if you want to be part of a team then you need to learn to respect your team, whatever their capabilities."
Luke doubted that his words would have any impact on the much larger man but giving vent to them make him feel much better at least. "You all passed this test. You'll be contacted by another team member when your next test is ready. You can all go."

Kaz put one foot behind the other, only touching the floor with his toes before he pushed with both feet. He turned a full 180 degrees fast and smooth, almost as if he hadn't been facing the opposite way just a moment before. Alex had walked and stopped just a few feet from him. He could tell by the look on her face he had gotten under her skin like a parasite, that she would attempt to remove by force shortly. His focus shifted to Jewel, oh yeah, she was irked quite a bit, but just like earlier, she hesitated. Just looking at her Kaz could almost see the words she wanted to say to him but wouldn't get the chance to now that Alex had stepped up to the plate.
For a moment Kaz's hand drifted to his throwing knives, not to use them on anyone, but to pass the time as Alex, and he assumed Jewel would afterwards, and then Luke. But it was only a moment. With one eyebrow raised and a confident smirk on his face he hooked his thumbs into his waistband with his weight resting on one foot as he stood listening to the onslaught of Alex's words. Halfway through Kaz pursed his lips as he attempted to repress his laughter, it succeeded, well, except for the tiny snerk which was followed immediately by a small cough.
By the time she was done, he could not hold it in any longer, it didn't help that Jewel had come over and dropped a few quips at him. He burst into laughter, a belly laugh that rolled through his body like thunder through the clouds. By the time he recovered his breath Luke had made his way down the stairs and spoke. He stiffled his laugh by the time Luke got to him. Kaz smirked broadly at the man before clapping him on the shoulder and smiling.
"You're right Luke, I could and would crush you if it ever came to that." He squeezed the man's shoulder slightly, not enough to hurt, but a friendly squeeze. "You gave us a test, and I've been doing a bit of testing myself."
He looked to Alex. "I'm sorry to burst your bubble Alex, but no we're not equals. You may not believe me, but there is not a single person in this world equal to any other. Everyone is different, and everyone has different facets that others cannot match exactly, so there are no equals." He gave the woman a wink. "You're also wrong if you think teamwork is letting everyone struggle just so they have an equal part in everything. Jewel hesitates, she's green. If you remember I didn't finish off either of the ones that went after you two. I have the most experience, I don't hesitate. In a team you trust each person to do their part to accomplish the common goal." He caught his breath for a moment and looked at both women. "Do you see running back telling others they're not working as a team just because the other is better? No, you see them supporting the other, or vice versa, if they can, trusting in them to do their job. As long as they get the support they need. The person who is better than the others often becomes the star and the focus, it's not always because they want to steal the show."
Kaz laughed as he stepped passed them all but turned at the last moment to look directly into Alex's eyes. He spoke loud enough for the others to hear, but he was speaking to her. "Oh, and you are exactly what I was looking for. You've got a spine and you've got spirit, you're not afraid to speak up and speak your mind." He looked at Jewel though he still spoke to Alex. "She still needs work, but the basic responses are there."
He began to walk away, but put up his arm in a slight wave. "You both work fairly well while being annoyed or embarrassed, among other things. Congrats to that." And he was gone.
"Jewel, you're obviously not the most experienced in combat situations but you were willing to take instruction from the other members of your team that knew more about what they're doing. Everyone has to start somewhere and a willingness to listen and learn is one of the most important skills anyone can have."
In spite of her annoyance with Kaz at the moment, Lily's cheeks turned pink with pride. They passed the test after all. She couldn't quite believe it, and it was nothing she expected, but they did it, and it flooded her with the feeling of success. Which, however, didn't last long.
Listening to Kaz's little speech Lily surprised herself by getting really, really pissed. It usually took a lot from one single person to get under her skin, especially in blissful moments like those after an exam well done. Kaz was doing a great job spoiling those moments for her right now. "She still needs work, but the basic responses are there." Her basic response was blood drumming in her ears. "You both work fairly well while being annoyed or embarrassed, among other things. Congrats to that." And with that, he walked away. If he hadn't said this single last sentence, Lily might have exploded in yelling and sharp comments; but she caught herself in time, realizing that was exactly what her teammate was aiming for. Taking a deep breath, she stood silent till Kaz was gone, then let the breath out through her nose. "I. So. Want. To. Kick. His. Ass." she murmured. To herself.
The elf found her amusing. Blue eyes narrowed, only slightly at the queen of drama in front of her eyes. Man, did he like to talk a lot! Talk… talk was such a kind word for Kaz’s perpetual blabbering about just how great he was. As Kaz- The Stubborn, Single Minded Mule left, Alexandra turned around with a sour face, shifting her eyes between Luke and Jewel constantly.
“Oh yes. How very supportive he is. I would certainly let my life in his hands if it ever came to that.” And of course, she was being sarcastic. Rolling her eyes, Alexandra folded her arms in front of her. Man, this kind of meeting left a sour taste in her mouth. “What an ass!” she muttered under her breath, before letting out a sigh. Eyes stopped on Luke, becoming much softer as well as her voice once she spoke. “And thanks Luke. With the little drama queen blabbering about just how awesome he is, I didn’t get the chance to talk to you.”
Alexandra sighed again, scratching behind her ear while blinking lazily. “So, anyone wants to grab lunch?” She asked, forcing herself in a good mood (because that Kaz won’t ruin her day). After all, she was certain that at some point in his narcissistic life, someone would prove him wrong. No, not her, for she wouldn’t bother with a little star wannabe, ever.
