The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tythan stepped up to Raina's office door and raised his hand to knock... Except that he didn't end up knocking. Rather he found himself pacing thinking through it all over again.
Why do i need to tell someone that i decided to stay? I mean, i filled out the paperwork and everything no one knew i was considering leaving, no on even knew that i was having doubts at all! But she did say that i could just come for a chat, and I almost feel obligated to tell her that i decided on staying....I did make an appointment to have a meeting after all, i can't just walk away. And besides i have to ask about my parents coming and the whole piano thing... But still, it just seems so silly to say that i've decided to stay without ever having voiced my doubts. Aw, what the hey, what's the worse that could happen ... It's not like i'm being summoned for a death sentence.
He raised his hand again to knock, and after hearing a response, he stepped inside.

Raina had been expecting Thythan but for the life of her she couldn't remember what he looked like. Bad teacher. Bad. She had a vague memory of meeting him a while back but thanks to all the ridiculous drama in her life her brain was tired and just didn't want to cooperate.
When the door opened and he stepped in she felt a wave of relief. Oh yeah. This guy. Note to self, don't ever forget a patient again! She gave him the biggest, warmest smile she could muster. "Well good morning Thythan, please come in and have a seat."
She motioned to the empty arm chair. Raina was proud of her office. She'd cleaned it and moved it around so it looked refreshed and the arm chair was a brilliant addition.
"So what brings you here this morning?" she inquired.

Tythan stepped into the office and tentatively took a seat. There was something about offices that always made him feel akward. No matter whose office it was, or how it looked, it was still an office and he just couldn't help but feel daunted and tentative. It could be his best friend behind the desk in a room with bean bag chairs and electric green paint, and he still would be uncomfortable.
"Uh...hi" he stammered, " I just wanted to...uh... well, it's not really a big thing, but i guess it is a big thing...but...uh.. well i didn't really tell anybody i was considering....sorry." He cleared his throat and tried again, "I just wanted to tell you that i've decided to stay here at the mansion. I know i never said anything about not staying or doubts or whatnot, but...uh... i guess i just needed to tell someone...So...yeah, I'm going to stay."
Tythan looked at Raina nervously, blushing slightly at his stumbling. At least he had gotten it out. That was the important part, he had told someone that he was staying. Now, he couldn't back out of it, he was staying and that was that. This was his new life here, his fresh start, and he wasn't about to start again any time soon.

Raina gave Thythan a soft warm smile from ear to ear. "Well Thythan, that's wonderful news." she began 'many people who come to us decide the idea of living with a bunch of mutants and our way of doing things... well it isn't their cup of tea. it's very hard to make the decision to stay.. to leap into something unknown. I'm proud of you."
she pulled a few papers out of a file and passed them to him. "tuition and boarding is free here. We're completely subsidized by grants, donations, and one person's wealth." she giggled. "Anything you need will be provided. You can attend school here, or in the city if you like, but I will need you to sign these official final papers."
She waited and after a moment of silence added "what helped you make your decision?" it was always good for her to know what the students thought

Tythan quickly scanned over the papers, then attached his signature to the bottom. He breathed a small sigh of relief when it turned out okay. When ever he signed anything, it was sort of hit and miss. Sometimes it looked great, other times, it was worse than that of a doctors.
"What helped you make your decision?" Raina asked.
Tythan looked up and took a moment to process the question. Something he rarely did, save in a setting such as a meeting.
"I guess it was mostly when i realized i'd been sitting around doing nothing for a month or so, and then things sort of spiraled. I got an letter from my parents, they figured there was something picturesque about sending a written letter to their son off at boarding school or whatever, so....Oh yeah, that was one of the things i needed to ask. My parents were wondering if they could come down to visit sometime in the next couple of weeks. Would that be possible. They said they could make arrangements to stay somewhere in the city, but... i wasn't too sure on the policy here."

ooc: Sorry for the delay! Been a crazy week! Doing my best... ic: "Hmmm..." said Raina thinking about it "for the confidentiality and safety of the other patients here we have designated visitor days... it's more for your parents well being though. Some parents have one idea of what a mutant is... and then they meet some of the mutants here that are more... shall we say... visible... and suddenly they dont want their child here anymore."
She took a sip from the tea that was steaming on her desk. There seemed to be a bit more to Tythan IIes than just a boy looking for a mutant friendly place to live.
"So tell me about your parents Tythan. You seem a bit agitated when you brought them up." she noticed. She was referring to the picture-esq comment. "What kind of parents are they?" she asked in a neutral tone.

"Huh?"
Tythan looked up. He had been mentally composing his next email, question, and a possible song simultaneously. Why could he never concentrate in an office!
"Oh, they're great, it's just... well i kind of left under uncertain terms. Like i said, they sent me a letter explaining how they're fine with it and all, and i'm pretty sure it's genuine, it's just... well. I left in the early morning and left a note, then travelled by myself for over a month to get here. But back to your original question, they're what i would consider the perfect parents. Maybe too perfect. They're almost overly loving, and at the same time, they hold responsibility in high regard. I guess it makes sense and all, i grew up in the same small town in canada that they grew up in, i guess it's just sort of ingrained in their very being."
Tythan decided to change the subject before he choked up. He really did miss them, and almost more so, his sister. So he focused on the other question he had come here to ask,
"Uh, i was wondering. Would it be alright if i scheduled a time to use the piano in the music room every day?"
It was a rather odd subject switch, with no connection to the previous topic whatsoever, but he needed to finish this up quick. He needed to have some resolution in his life, and a few stable things to hold on to.

Raina smiled "Ah, you're a Canadian boy eh?" she giggled. "I'm first nations. Grew up just outside of Iqaluit." she grinned from ear to ear. It was hard to see sometimes that Raina was native under that dyed red hair, but it was there in her smile and her gray eyes. "I'm sure you weren't that far up North... but there's a handful of us Canadians floating around down here. Just don't mention the TV show south park with any of the guys and you'll be fine." she winked. CS has always given her the 'blame Canada' bit as a way to tease.
He seemed genuine about his parents but Raina still felt like it was a hot button topic. There seemed to be a bit more there than he was saying but he was clearly trying to rope his emotions in.
"Well as you know I am the music teacher here... and I'm not sure if you're aware... but my power revolves around music."
She placed her cup of tea in front of Tythan. Then she sang out a long flowing note. It hung in the air which suddenly seemed crisper, and the liquid tea became a frozen ice block.
"I believe very strongly in the power of healing and coping through music as you'll come to find out. So you're more than welcome to access to the piano and the music room." she opened a droor on her desk and pulled out a key ring. She pulled off the duplicate music key that was in the shape of a music note and handed it to him. "Go there whenever you like, it's sound proof so you wont have to worry about the time of day."

A big knot in Tythan's stomach unclenched when he heard Raina mention other Canadians. He'd been a little overwhelmed over the past couple of months, and hearing that gave him something to hold on to.
As she froze the tea with her voice, his mouth nearly dropped open. It was the coolest thing he had ever seen. He just wished he could do something like that. Something more flashy and obvious...and effective. The knot began to clench again, but he let it go. Being able to merge with objects was a perfectly fine ability, even if it was prone to accident.
But this rollercoaster of emotion reached its peak when she reached out and handed him the key to the music room. He stopped breathing as he felt the cool hardness and pictured the the notes flowing through the air. Ahh. Why do i always get so caught up in the potential of playing. I mean, it makes sense when i'm actually playing, but this...is a little too much.
"Thank you so much!" He exclaimed a little to excitedly. He blushed slightly, but went on, "Um....yeah... i think that's it." His mind had now left the office, he now was lost in the music." "Oh, except. When's the next visiting day" He smiled. He couldn't do anything else.
