The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hairpin woke up suddenly. She looked up at a particularly wierd sky. Lying on a giant floating rock mountain, this was her first trip to the Alstral Plane. The 11 year old girl sat up, and looked around. This was new to her, and very wierd, but weirdest was the fact that she could only see out of one eye. Her third eye! She lifted a hand to her face, and discovered that both of her eyes were missing! Essentually, in the astral plane, Hairpin could only see through her third eye. The girl walked around a bit on the rock, then floated into the air. "Is... is anyone here?" she called out, her voice echoing.
Hairpin looked up suddenly, and looked at the peculiar young man through her single eye. "I.. I don't remember." Hairpin said, confused. "The last thing I remember was telling Dafi to go inside. Then I woke up here." she added.
"I know everyone that can walk these planes," the man said, still smiling slightly. "I may know those that you speak of. Can either of them walk the spanse between and through minds?"
Hairpin scratched her head. "Mike can talk to people in their heads, but I don't think Daria can." Hairpin tol Vassago. "Is this like a dream place?" she asked.
"This is the Astral Plane, where those who can See hold power. Your mind shapes and defines yourself here, as well as what you see. This is the realm of the mind."
"And I may know this 'Mike' then. Does he go by any other name? Can you describe him?"
"Ah, Cassiel. I know that one well, though only from afar. He fears himself. Stay close to him... he needs people close to him who care for him and who will let him care for them."
"I believe I can help with that. Each time you visit, coming and going becomes easier. I'll show the way this time, and you should be able to find your way here and back afterward."
"And perhaps you'd care to visit a lonely traveler every so often when you need someone to talk to?" he added, the smile playing across his lips again, the only part of his face that was visible. He took her hand, leading her to a point somewhere behind her.
Hairpin was still looking around, as she Vassago lead her on. "It looks so lonely here." she said softly. "I'll come see you alot Zadkiel!" she said looking up at his covered face. She couldn't see what he looked like, but being a mutant she at least knew some peopel didn't like to be seen.
