The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kagasu practically flew out of the elderly compact car, splattering himself all across the sidewalk. He couldn’t reshape himself into his human form immediately; too much of his strength had been spent on that one desperate attempt to flee the oil-guzzling vehicle. His father stepped out and glanced over in his general direction, frowning at the thing he was now ashamed to have called his son at one time. “Get up, you disgusting slime!” he yelled, regretting that he couldn’t kick the thing. Slowly Kagasu gathered what little power he had and pulled his body back into a human structure. He was still somewhat unsteady, his whole form rippled when he made the slightest motion, but it was all he could manage. His father, face still boasting a disgusted scowl, bent to speak to his mother who was still in the wimpy car. They had chosen to take such an undersized and rusty automobile for two reasons; one being that they didn’t want the thing that was their son to stain their limo, and the second being to avoid attracting unnecessary publicity, to them it would be devastating to be seen with such a creature. Kagasu would never had thought any of those things were true though, he loved his parents and was sure that even despite the way they acted now that the loving couple he had known when he was just a infant was somewhere deep inside them. “We’re leaving now and your going to stay here,” his father stated, barley turning his head to glare at the creature, “You will not leave this place, and if you do, I swear…”Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a box of matches. He lit one and tossed it at Kagasu, who watched in terror as it flew closer and closer to his enormously flammable being. It landed nearly three feet away from him, but he swore he could feel the warmth that emitted from the small yellow flame. Somewhere far away a car door slammed, and the match was put out. Kagasu stared at it for just a bit longer, and then turned to gawk as his parents orphaned him once again. He wanted with all his heart to stop them, but his extreme fear of the car, match, and pools of water left in the gutter from the weak ran earlier was to much for him to overcome, and all he could to was reach out with his hand as if trying to grasp the last thread of a loving family he had once know. But even that was too much in his current state and the arm melted away, the drips of oil making splashes that sounded like miniature explosions to Kagasu, and all went black.
Kagasu blinked up at the bright sky, wondering where he was, and why he was actually gazing at the clouds for the first time in years. He smiled, happy to be out doors in the beauty of nature once again and forgot about his questions for a few seconds. But the pleasant spell was broken as a car rushed pass and suddenly the events of earlier that day flooded back to him, and the smile was instantly wiped from his face. He raised himself up to a sitting position and turned to gaze at the huge building that was just beyond the gate. To someone who had been locked-up for most of his life the building was quite menacing, and the thought of running in the opposite direction crossed his mind. But he shook his head, figuring that his parents would probably not approve, and really, that was all he wanted: their approval. Kagasu got to his feet, still a little weak from the ride, and made his way closer to the gate. This was it, the beginning of a new chapter of his life, and he pushed at the gate, trying his hardest to be brave and face whatever waited for him through there. But the thing wouldn’t budge, and he was starting to get a little discouraged. Just when he was about to give up something caught his eye. It was a little box something like a speaker with a button toward the bottom. He recognized it from one of the encyclopedias he had read while trapped in his room, and he approached it cautiously, just like he did everything and everyone who was considered ‘normal’. There was a camera on the wall near it, much like the ones that could be found in almost every corner of the asylum and he tried to decipher how to work the speaker. “H-hello.” He said timidly while holding down the button, hoping that he was doing it right. Almost immediately a voice responded after Kagasu had let up on it, and it frightened him slightly. “Hello there, please state your name and business.” “Well, my name is K-Kagasu Eki, and I…I’m not sure what my b-business is. Do you m-mean were I work?…’c-cause I don’t have a job….sorry.” he had almost forgotten to push the button that time. He prepared himself for the voice that was to come again so he wouldn’t jump, but the speaker had fallen silent.

"Neena. Hey, Neena! Are you awake?"
"Eh? Say what?" Neena blinked, and yawned. She'd fallen asleep in the Observation Room of the Danger Room. She looked around trying to figure out where that hollow voice had come from. She had to blink several times to get her vision back to normal; it was a side effect apparently, but whenever she first woke up her vision could be any number of things. Once she'd woken up looking a microscopic version of her hair. Sometimes seeing such detail was a curse.
"You sure sleep a lot, you know?"
Neena's gaze fell on the walkie talkie she'd been assigned. She shook her head and picked up the bulky thing. "What'd ya say?"
"I said you sleep a lot." Neena grinned. She'd met Tricity's helper, Jonthan, and taken an instant liking to him. The kid's attitude reminded her of her brother, so she felt right at home.
"I don't sleep a lot," she retorted. "I'm checking my eyelids for cracks."
"Yeah, right. Well check 'em later. You've got your first assignment hovering at the front gate. And he sounds nervous."
"Nervous? Hmm.... wonder why? Well tell him I'm on my way."
Nervous was an unknown to Neena, and it sometimes fascinated her what brought the feeling on in others. Curious, she picked up the walkie talkie, clipped it to her belt, and headed down and outside, pausing by the Headmistress's office first to pick up the Newcomer's Packet she'd been shown. She studied it as she crossed the grounds.
At the gate she paused, looking out, taking in the newcomer's appearance.
"Hey there, how ya doin'?" she greeted him with a smile. "I'm Neena, one of the teachers here. You said your name was... eh... Kagasu? Did I say that right? Are you looking for a place to stay?"
She didn't open the gate right away; considering some of the recent events she'd been filled in on, she decided it would be wiser to let him identify his reason for being there first. But her smile was friendly and warm.
Kagasu slumped to the ground and sagged onto the cold bricks. He couldn’t anything his parents wanted him to do right, no matter how hard he tried. How disappointed they would be to find out that had messed up this too….
“We’re sending someone out to get you, please be patient.” With the speed he jumped up when the voice came back over the intercom system Kagasu would have hopped right out of his skin if he had had any. He felt some of the oil form bead and speed down his face and suddenly he became very dizzy. Everything started to blur together. Not again… he thought, holding himself up with the wall. He clenched his abdomen with his free hand, and waited to see whether he would pass out or just spill his guts this time.
But neither happened, luckily, and Kagasu slowly straightened himself. Today was turning out to be too much for him. One foot at a time he worked his back to the gate. He was regretting that moment earlier where he had felt quite blissful while gazing into the sky. Whenever he felt good his oil body automatically filled his ‘stomach’ with more oil, to try and mock that wonderful feeling people had after they had just finished a good meal. And because of that he had something to lose.
When Kagasu turned to face the gate he was too concerned with the ground to even notice the girl standing just behind it. The dizziness hadn’t quite passed when she spoke, again scaring him back toward the street.
"Hey there, how ya doin'? I'm Neena, one of the teachers here. You said your name was... eh... Kagasu? Did I say that right? Are you looking for a ….”
The end of her sentence was drowned out by the noise a passing van, and he spun in horror as it passed. This time he couldn’t stop himself and Kagasu fell to his knees, again clenching his abdomen. His mouth opened as if it had a mind of his own and he was overwhelmed by the choking sensation that always came with vomiting.

<"Nervous? This kid is frightened out of his.... skin..."> Neena paused her thought, wondering if skin was the right adjective for this poor soul. Either way, there was no denying that the kid was ready to have a nervous breakdown of somesort.
When he suddnely leaned over and vomitted, Neena qiuckly pulled open the gate and hurried to his side.
"Whoa! Hey now! Easy, easy! Take it easy. There, you'll be okay," she said soothingly. "C'mon, let's get you to the infirmary." She made a quick analyzation with her eyes, just to be sure the boy's skin was made of acid or something of the like. Then she tried to put one arm around her shoulders, attempting to help him to his feet. Considering his body makeup, that task was much harder to accomplish than it looked.
