The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>“Umm...anything’s good.”
"In that case," Shin hauled a massive bag of marshmallows from the cupboard. It flopped down on the counter with a sound quite dissimilar to the noise one would expect from an asteroid striking the moon. He pulled a box of graham crackers out next, and a few bars of chocolate followed that. One by one, his selection made their way into the center of the table. He stepped back to admire his work.
They had quite the spread. "Peach tea and S'mores." He grinned, hand-on-hip. Originally, he'd thought just to grab the marshmallows. Because a nice sweet meat would be good right about now, right? But then he remembered the time he attempted to make a meal of marshmallow goodness... and goodness, what a stomach ache he'd gotten from that. That's when his eye caught the graham crackers in the corner of the cupboard, and they both had the good fortune that other students hadn't polished off the Hershey bars before they'd had their chance.
He grabbed the ice and dish towel from the counter again, then darted back to his seat. With a delightful crack, the first Hershey's bar snapped into segments.

Twyla watched the marshmallows hit the counter then the graham crackers then the chocolate. It took her a minute to put together the ingredients in her head. S’mores were basically amazing and she hadn’t realized that she was hungry for them until he had said: "Peach tea and S'mores." Twyla returned his smile and brought the almost too full glasses over to where her guide was sitting. Not a drop was spilt during the trip and she was proud of herself. “Good choice.” She complimented before sitting down and beginning to build her own delicious cracker sandwich.
While she was placing the chocolate rectangles on her graham half she was suddenly reminded of something she and her younger brother Jonathan used to do when he was sick. “Have you ever tried putting these things in the microwave?” she asked without looking up, she was very focused on getting her chocolate to cracker ratio just right. Twyla could usually eat anything but that didn’t mean that she had to eat just ANYTHING. Building S’mores was not a project one should deal lightly with; at least that was Twyla’s opinion.

>>“Have you ever tried putting these things in the microwave?”
Through a long sip of tea, Shin shook his head 'no'. He hadn't tried microwaving S'mores. He broke the liplock on the glass with a 'pah', and interjected hastily. "Although there was that one time I tried microwaving marshmallow chicks. 'Marshmallow Peep Fight', they called it. Heat caused the marshmallow peeps to expand, and then they pushed each other around on the plate like Sumo wrestlers, until..." He smacked his palm into his cast and made a finger-splaying spray effect with his hand. "Not a peep more was heard of the brave young marshmallow sumos... and the mess from the bout took about an hour to clean up."
He broke a chocolate bar into a segment, and popped it in his mouth. Through a chipmunk's mouthful of munching, Shin elaborated. "So, I guess the moral of the story is be careful what you put in the microwave, because marshmallow peeps go pop..." That wasn't a very good moral. It wasn't a very good story. Shin stared down at the box of graham crackers for a moment as he let the 'moral' seep in.
Cracker clacked on chocolate in the background. Shin worked on assembling his own S'more. After it was finished, he popped it on a paper plate, and wheeled the concoction over to the microwave. A glance back at Twyla as he set it in, hit 30 seconds. "... Let's hope the world doesn't explode..."

Twyla’s head nodded in empathy when Shin told her how long it had taken to clean the microwave after the Peep explosion. Molten marshmallow had the tendency to cool quickly and in a very hard manner. This was a fact that she and her brother had discovered the first time that Twyla had the bright idea to make s’mores one winter. It was the morning of a snow day and to celebrate she and Jonathan were going to watch movies. Twyla’s suggestion turned into a disaster and her father was not very happy when he came in after milking to find his microwave and counters covered in white mess that resembled in texture Krazy Glue.
"... Let's hope the world doesn't explode..." Twyla looked up from her completed chocolate-marshmallow-cracker-masterpiece just in time to watch the plate enter the microwave. The timer was set for thirty seconds and Twyla’s experience in matters of marshmallows told her that that was much too much time. In the heat of the microwave the marshmallow began to expand and push its graham top up. The trick was to get it out of the microwave and reassembled before the marshmallow got bigger than the base and spilled its deliciousness all over the plate. “You might want to take that out soon.” She suggested as the marshmallow began to push off its top.

Shin eyed the mound of marshmallow as it rose, rose, rose, like the buildup of pyroclastic debris in a cindercone. Hypnotic, yes, but dangerous. Oh so dangerous. And stacking fast! "Er... my sentiments exactly!" With a blip, the door swung open! And just in time. Marshmallow ceased its rise. Shin wheeled the plate back to the table, careful as any good scientist examining his layers of strata.
"Cracker crust... check... molten marshmallow lava, check... realm of hot clay chocolate above the mallow... and check!" He flipped the graham cracker concoction over and pressed down. Force caused the lava to shoot out through the ends of the cracker cone like a minor eruption. Marshmallow lava above the surface became magma. Shin twisted the metaphor around 180 degrees, flipped it on its side, and announced "Reminds me of a wooden bridge that rises due to flooding... it's a good thing I got it out when I did... hot dogs... taken about 30 seconds, maybe less. Hmm... further research into microwave physics may indeed be required. All that's left..." He took the hot mallow and chocolate sandwich up in his left hand, and brought it to his mouth. "Is to sample the evidence."
In a big bite, he chomped away half the sweet meat sandwich. A bit of marshmallow got in the corner of his mouth, but it was good.
Omnom nom, indeed.
"I think that about wraps up the tour. All that's left to show you are the living room and the infirmary... I think you can find those yourself." Shin smiled as he set the sandwich down. He took a sip of sweet tea. Certainly a healthy lunch.

The s’more made it out of the microwave with no harm done to either the creator or the appliance. It was not consumed right away however and Twyla giggled quietly but intensely all through its examination. Perhaps it was the sugar in the tea or the chocolate that had made her giddy or maybe it was that the day was getting to her, she was tired and needed to sort her last week out. Shin seemed to enjoy the microwaved marshmallow sandwich because he ate half of it in one bit and didn’t choke, spit it out, or spontaneously combust.
"I think that about wraps up the tour. All that's left to show you are the living room and the infirmary... I think you can find those yourself." He said after he finished chewing. Twyla nodded, the smile from the giggle fit still on her face. “I think I can manage that. Infirmary, second floor and living room...definitely somewhere.” Her tone was bright as she proceeded to clean up her half of the snack mess. She awkwardly meandered towards the exit of the kitchen. “Well, thank you very much, for everything. It’s greatly appreciated.” A genuine smile for genuine words. “I hope your head feels better...See you around I guess. Thanks again!”
A few minutes later she was in the girl hallway, standing in front of door number two. The key fit into the lock easily and the door opened to reveal her new room exactly as she had left it. Walking in and closing the door behind her Twyla began to mentally plan out the rest of her day. She had a lot of work to do if she wanted to make this HER room. The first step would be to unpack. The rest of it wasn’t so simple but at least she had a plan--a new plan and it was good.
