The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For a long moment, he found himself standing in front of the mansion holding his possible future second home. He was so nervous that he could hardly even breathe. He just stood there, watching, observing anything he could lay his eyes upon. The air felt chilly down his, and he could tell that it would start raining soon. He felt awkward. He was always a bit shy at first, unless this was one of the moments where he would be too afraid to decide on a decision.
He had been tired of sitting on the bus, even if he hadn't even left the state. It was just that the nerves were really getting to him. Tenderly he tightened the grip on his bag. It was heavy, but he knew that he would probably have to go back home to get more stuff after a while. His head had felt heavy for a while, as if someone was holding his head down. His life was changing as he took every step. Not only because he was a mutant, but because this was the furthest he had gone alone.
Alexander didn't really have much courage at the moment, and it made him feel ashamed of himself. He tried multiple times to press the button to the intercom. He found out that he just had to do it, or else he would be stuck outside for the rest of the day in the pouring rain. He took a few deep breaths before he tried pushing the button. It didn’t work out this time, but he forced himself the second time. “Uhm hello? My name is Alexander García, and I called a few days ago, asking if I coming was okay."
He sighed as he let his bag lie on the ground. He hoped someone would have heard that, or else he would have to try again, and he wasn't so keen on that alternative. The time came for him to wait, and he waited for almost fifteen minutes before he decided to try again. Reluctantly he pressed the intercom button again. He cleared his throat before he talked. "Yeah, Hi, my name is Alexander García, I called not too many days ago, and I said I would most likely arrive today."He paused again, looking over at the building. In the meanwhile he started feeling raindrops hit his nose every now and then. "Please listen" he thought to himself.

It was taco night. Taco night at the mansion meant the woman who prepared food in the kitchen had gone to great lengths to prepare grilled beef, an assortment of tortilla, cheese, and taco fixin's. She even went so far as to bring out frozen yogurt for dessert. Shin would be hard-pressed to turn down those odds. So when the first call came over the intercom, Shin was away from his desk due to unfortunate mansion circumstances. The second call got a bit more luck.
Shin turned the spoon in the flowery tea cup full of frozen strawberry yogurt as he sat down at his desk and kicked up his legs. It was fantastic. A masterpiece, even. For a moment, the spoon sat in his mouth as he enjoyed the flavor with eyes tugged shut. A voice cracked over the intercom. The spoon nearly fell from Shin's grip.
"Eh? Alexander Garcia, Alexander Garcia..." Shin set the tea cup down as his fingers tumbled gracelessly over the paperwork and notes sitting on the desk. He poked a button on the keyboard and scrolled through phone records until his eyes fell on Mr. Garcia's mention. Age 18, recently moved to New York... Mutant Ability: Influences the Weather. Shin's eyes widened as he scrabbled to press the intercom button to the front gate and respond.
"Right, Mr. Garcia. I've got your paperwork here. I'll open the gates and be down to greet you shortly." With that, he hit the button to send the gates swinging open, and grabbed his coat from the rack. A long grayish-black duster trailed behind the Asian mutant as Shin wrapped a navy blue scarf around his neck and flowed towards the main gates. He arrived two minutes later, popping open an umbrella as he casually approached the Korean male. He extended a hand. "Tetsuya Shinbo, mansion greeter. Pleased to meet you."
The rain fell hard on his now open umbrella. If he weren't so tired from waiting he could probably influence the weather not to rain on him, but he never found that necessary. Suddenly her heard a voice from the intercom. He was surprised that they already had papers on him, he was curious to what they might have on him. He remembered that they asked a few questions on the phone, it had to be that. He didn't get to think much before the gates swung open. Suddenly he felt sick; it was finally sinking in that he was really there now.
Hesitantly he took a few steps towards the building. His eyes looked curiously around, trying to keep a lookout for anything that could be interesting. Meanwhile the rain still poured down, and he knew that he should have picked another pair of shoes. Suddenly he saw a figure come out from the door. He too was holding an umbrella, and was coming closer and closer. It was still no too late to turn back, or perhaps it would. They already knew who he was, and most likely where he lived. He just couldn't cope with meeting his parents just now.
The other guy was there now, he was Asian as well, it surprised him a bit, and it also would bring up questions on his background as well. But he was carrying a Japanese name, meaning he was most likely brought up as Japanese as well. Alexander smiled as he too extended his hand to greet him. "Alexander García" He said quickly. Alexander wasn't sure at all where he should go from there, he wanted the most to just get outside and away from the rain, but he didn't want to intrude either. "So, what happens next?"He said, still trying to smile nicely. "I guess there is some stuff you'd like me to do first or something?" Alexander asked, though he had no idea on what he was going to do, or how things worked around there.

Shin shook Alexander's hand briefly, then let go. Droplets of darkness hung on his face where the light overhead showed through the clear plastic umbrella. He shifted his hand back to carrying the umbrella as he gestured towards the main doors.
"Plenty. Let's go inside out of the elements before we handle the basic paperwork, though. From the conversation over the phone, we've gleaned most of the pertinent information about you, Mr. Garcia. It shouldn't be too hard finishing the process and getting you a room once we're inside." He took a few steps, then paused, glancing back with that ever-present hint of curiosity that hung over him like a cloud bank. "That is, unless you'd like to do a quick demonstration... we have the needed ingredients. What better time than now?"
The rain seemed to blow past them in a horizontal gust, as if in answer. Rain dribbled off the sides of Shin's cheeks as his scarf trailed. He spun his umbrella, shaking off a few drops, and pointed to the sky.
He was glad that he could get settled soon. He was emotionally drained, he had experienced a lot this day, even if he hadn't really done much. Just that important step to making his own serious decision. He looked again at Shinbo, as he was getting ready to get inside. Alexander was surprised though, when he had stopped. It surprised him even more that Shinbo wouldn't mind a little demonstration.
Alexander had never really tried to actually manipulate the weather much. He just managed to get into situations where he just did. "I can try, though normally I just make small scale weather effects, like to practice." It was true, as he often sat in the bathtub with a rain cloud hanging over him.
By not too much concentration he was able to manipulate the atmospheric condition in a small area he believed to be around their position. He didn't really know what he'd do but figured anything would be better than rain. It was always difficult to this, and he could already feel that he might have pushed his luck a bit as he was quite tired.
But short moments later, the rain stopped around them as well as the rough wind had seemed to calm down, though it continued to rain elsewhere. "There you go, I would do more, but I am afraid that I'm a bit to tired to focus. "Shall we get inside perhaps? So that I can make the weather go back to its original state?" He asked. "I am sure we should get ahead on the paperwork, I'm curious to this place as well, I'm guessing there is a tour available, or if not a map." He said jokingly.

Hazel eyes lifted upwards, peering through sheets of rain as the Korean boy concentrated on the sky. The clouds hung overhead, heavy as they ever were. They rolled black pie crusts, hemming an edge overhead. A moment of hushed drizzling perforated the scene. Beyond the pair, a frog croaked by a pool of water near the trees. A squirrel chattered on a branch, head snapping up in attention as he clutched at his nut. The lull of cumulus movement reflected in his amber eyes. A faint breeze blew through the pine needles, sending a few to topple end over end towards the grass below. With understated dignity, the winds seemed to slow. Rain eased. Shin held his balled fist in front of his mouth in thought, eyes dropping from the gray sky overhead to fall on Alexander.
The corners of Shin's mouth turned up in a smile as he shook his umbrella and pulled it shut. "Very impressive. And does that happen when you're feeling intense emotions, or can you control it naturally?" Some degree of control was obvious, from the display he'd just elicited, yet that may have been the result of focusing on a specific emotion or thought. Shin propped the umbrella under his arm against the crook of his elbow, and started leading them towards the mansion. It looked like whatever method Mr. Garcia used had drained him slightly. "Come along," Shin lilted back at the boy. "After I get you set up with a room, I can give you a tour of the mansion."
((OOC: You can get us into the front door and do your reaction. After they get in the main hall, Shin will lead them to the office to wrap up the paperwork. I'll take us there.))
Looking over at Shinbo again and hearing his question made him realize that he knew so little of his powers. He only had basic knowledge on how it all worked. What if he did something horribly wrong? He suddenly felt a bit scared by that fact, perhaps that if he knew more about how the weather worked, that he could have more control. He just knew that he rarely experienced weather problems linked with his emotional state.
Taking a deep breath again, he tightened the grip of his bag, before he spoke again. "I don't really know, I'm guessing that my emotions don’t really affect the weather itself, though when I've tried to manipulate the weather when I've been in an emotional state, it hasn’t really turned out the way I've wanted it to, if that makes any sense at all.” Alexander doubted it did at all. "I'm sorry; I just haven't really thought about it much. There is a reason to why I am here, to get help in using my powers." He looked up at the small area of clear sky. "I'm afraid that if I continue the way I have, that I might do something I don't want to happen." He paused for a moment, sighing. "Well enough of that I think, we won't get anywhere at this moment by having me creating theories."
He turned around as he took a few steps before standing by the door that took them directly inside. He opened the door quickly. If there was something he had learned, it was that he needed to take more chances. When looking inside he thought it was different from what he had first imagined. It looked a lot bigger from the inside than the outside, and everything else was hardly close to what else he had thought looked like. While inside he stood still for a moment. As he had to make sure that the weather turned back to its previous wet state.
He looked back at Shinbo, as he was awaiting instructions to where they would go next. His head didn't feel any better after his little show either, and make him wonder if he would pass out or not. Normally though he never passed out. He had lived in Spain most of his life, of course he was used to long nights and staying up. "Which way are we going now?" Alexander asked, as he continued to observe the surroundings.

"Makes perfect sense," Shin quipped. "Emotions tend to cloud judgment and wash over concentration. You can't well think about manipulating specific affectations of reality when you're focused on that ball of rage in the pit of your stomach, now can you?" He glanced at the sky and itched the side of his cheek. "That's why learning to control these things is the most important part. And right now, this is less 'theory' than postulation. Theories are hypotheses that have been tested, and have passed the first few tests of time." Shin smirked. Science 101. That being said, Alexander was right. Spinning their rudders like this was only sending them in circles. Further testing needed to be done. Shin glanced once more at the clearing sky, then entered the mansion.
For a moment, nobody said a word. Alexander looked around, taking the front hall in. Shin glanced back out the doorway, at the clouds in the sky. Darkness shifted on the horizon, and rain began to fall once more as Alexander did what he felt needed done. Shin turned to focus his smile back on the boy. He seemed a bit tired. Shin thought a moment. "Well, we could walk around the mansion for a while while I showed you the various important aspects of the school. Of course, there's always tomorrow for that, if you're exhausted. Or I could set you up with a room, and find you a place to put your bags. Actually, that sounds like the best course of action right now. Follow me."
He swung up his legs and led the charge down an adjoining hall towards the corridor that housed the mansion's many offices. He knocked once, then popped in. The door hung open for Alex to follow. Shin plopped down in his desk, dragging the pointer on the computer screen up to check the mansion's list of rooms with vacancies.
"Roommate or non?" Of course, while many mansion-goers often had to deal with roommates, it seemed the older children often got off scot-free with the problematic arrangement. Still, no harm in asking.
It didn't take him a long time at all to agree with Shinbo, and nodded along as he suggested that the tour would be moved to the next day. He was tired, and perhaps having a tour of the place at this time wasn't the best idea. Even though it wasn't even late, he felt as he hadn't slept in days. The only truth to it was that he didn't sleep well the night before. It was with long heavy steps that Alexander followed Shinbo through the hall and down a corridor. He looked carefully around as he walked, it was so difficult to get a view over everything at this time, but something told him that he had many more chances later.
As Shinbo walked into one of the door that appeared to be offices. Alexander quickly followed him inside, watching as he sat by the desk. It was almost like being at the headmaster's office, only this was different. Because of this it felt weird to be talking about roommates, it would be a good opportunity for him to get to know people, but with his obsessive cleanliness and other, eccentricities, it was probably going to be an issue. "I'll take what I can get, though if there are single rooms available, I am not going to decline." Alexander politely answered.
Again he looked at Shinbo, in a curious way, he hadn't really thought about it until now. He decided that he would ask, even if it was weird for him to ask now. "I do not mean to pry, but well, you know mine." He paused for a while. "What powers do you have?" Alexander finally asked, feeling his face suddenly turned much warmer, as if he was embarrassed of asking it.

“Alright, let’s just see what we have here…” His fingers danced across the keyboard. With a clack, he hit enter. ”..aha, here we go. Wow. You’re in luck. We’ve got an open room on the second floor. It’s near the library, and not too far from the stairs. No roommate.” A final tap. He reached into a nearby cabinet, swishing his arm through a sea of keys. His brow danced in concentration, tongue jutting out the corner of his mouth as he searched. After a moment of hasty digging, he retrieved a key with the number that matched the one on the screen. “We’re good to go.” Shin grinned sheepishly. He spun to face Alex, key held upright. Alex’s look of apprehension stood out like a sloppy green screen against the face of the key.
The boy looked like he had a question. Shin lowered the key to look him in the face. “What’s up?”
>>"What powers do you have?" Alexander finally asked, feeling his face suddenly turned much warmer, as if he was embarrassed of asking it.
“Ah, I see…” A wry smirk fell tugged at Shin’s face. The kid wanted to see what he could do. He glanced around for a moment, then popped open another drawer and pulled out a ping pong ball. He held it up like a magician before the big trick. “See this ping pong ball…?” His eyes screwed up to impose upon Alexander the seriousness of the ball. With a ‘pop!’, he tossed it onto the table. It bounced upwards and to the right. Like a table tennis master, Shin’s right hand shot out, summoning two 3” triangular shards. They shifted into a square, knocking the ball back and to the left. His second hand rose up, controlling a different shard square. The white ball bounced up and down on the table between the two ‘paddles’ as Shin fought himself at Shard Pong. The ball flew high! The ball flew low. Shin nearly missed it, and then…
After a minute of this, the ball flew out of bounds on the left. Shin snapped his right hand. “Darn, beat myself again. But that’s my power in a nutshell. I… make triangular barriers that I arrange into shapes and do cool things with.” He laughed. “Any other questions?”
In a way Alexander was rather pleased by getting a single room, not only because it would be quite awkward, but he liked having privacy, as he was very much used to it by now. The fact that is was near the library was merely just a plus. He tried to maintain a serious appearance, though on the inside he was quite glad that things were beginning to work out for him. Alexander quickly gave Shinbo a little smile as they seemed to have worked out that issue.
As Shinbo took out a ping pong ball from a drawer, Alexander couldn't quite imagine what he had in mind. His first thought was that he would make the ping pong ball explode, or many control it or something similar. Alexander was rather surprised when the true power emerged, that Shinbo could create and control shards. Alexander observed as Shinbo had a little match with himself. "I'm guessing you never have a dull moment" Alexander said when the display was done. He guessed that Shin must have had a lot of practice, unlike himself.
Thinking about just that made him think, how one exactly went around practising their powers at this school. He was sure there were people that had powers that weren't exactly safe to practice around other people. Somewhat like his, that would make things a bit messy if he did it wrong.
"I do wonder" He said as he scratched his cheek. "How do you in this school actually practice control over your powers? I'm sure that it wouldn't be safe to do everything in a regular classroom? Like myself, I don't see myself making rainclouds inside of a classroom where people observe you." He said to Shin. "Also, how about this school, I'm aware that you have classes, I was wondering which subjects that are available here"

>>"I'm guessing you never have a dull moment" Alexander stated.
Shin smirked his little smirk. "Nope." Just one of the many tricks he'd dreamed up lately thanks to late nights and too much sugar. Maybe next time he'd show the Rubiks Cube? His concentration on the few shards he currently controlled slackened as he turned his attention back to Alexander.
>>"I do wonder" Alexander said as he scratched his cheek. "How do you in this school actually practice control over your powers? I'm sure that it wouldn't be safe to do everything in a regular classroom? Like myself, I don't see myself making rainclouds inside of a classroom where people observe you." He said to Shin. "Also, how about this school, I'm aware that you have classes, I was wondering which subjects that are available here"
Shin eyed him as he asked. A really good question. Shin crossed his arms and asked point-blank. "Does your power even work indoors? Altering the weather might be a more 'outdoor' thing, and if that's the case, we've got a field, and we've got the garden. Otherwise, there is a room you could go to (with permission from staff) that'd allow you to practice your powers... I could let you in, if you thought your powers might actually work inside. I'm sorry. I don't know them as well as you do, so I can't give you more than that." He finished with a wry smile.
"As for classes, the mansion's teachers teach from grades k-12. We've got a self defense teacher, a music teacher, an English teacher, math, history, languages, computer basics, art... I'm not sure on the status of our science teacher, or our professor of philosophy, but I'm sure we could find you some books if you wanted to bone up on weather conditions. Does that answer your question?"

Somehow he didn't know what to say to Shinbo, practically he hadn't exactly tried to create weather inside before, but he had previously had accidents where he had made it rain indoors, or sudden gusts or make a sudden rise in humidity. It shouldn't be completely be impossible. He didn't look away from Shinbo, but somehow he felt disappointed in himself for not knowing more. "All I can tell you is that it has happened to me before, and all I say is better safe than sorry." One of his most used phrases. He hated being wrong, being late or being humiliated. "But, for now, outside would be well, most logical. Starting with the basics is usually the best place to start.
As he was trying to pay attention to Shinbo, he just couldn't help but to feel a bit helpless, the moment he heard 'self defence' he couldn't help but to believe they'd actually teach them fighting. Though it was tempting to learn self defence, he was more concerned about how easily he could get hurt. After Shinbo was finished talking, Alexander had already though up another few questions. Though he scratched his wrists as he tried to come up with the best way to formulate them.
A very short moment after, he just decided to try for the best. " Uhm, it's not required to attend self defence classes is it?" He paused for a second, before continuing. "And I guess weather books would be good, I think my power control has a lot in common with my knowledge of the weather, the more I know, the easier it becomes to control it, I take it you have a library or something, Since you are a school. I'll probably find a lot of stuff there." he said, though it wasn't really directed as a question. It was more a question of getting tired, and just wanted to get done with this. "But, I guess it doesn't matter today, I wonder if you could probably show me where I'll sleep, I'm feeling very tired." He finished of, forcing himself not to yawn, causing his eyes to tear up a bit.

"Basics sounds good." And logical. Yes. One wouldn't want to dive into the deep end when they were still learning how to swim. Shin had had one too many close calls with that when he was younger. Rushing in, bokken raised. Reckless endangerment got swords swatted aside. It had only taken a few hundred falls before he'd learned. Chibi-Shin always was a quick learner. He hoped Alexander would be too. The fact the boy alluded to the idea that his weather manipulation worked indoors gave Shin a plethora of ideas he wanted to test. One couldn't well test them if the preparations went unmade.
After his comment on 'self defense training', Alexander seemed wary. Shin shook his head. "Not required, no. You can set up your own classes. Usually, the mansion's teachers suggest the basics, like math, English, music. You know. The things kids in grades K through 12 would need. Any self-defense training is purely extra-curricular. Though I do go by the principle that 'One should train both body and mind'." Shin added the last part with methodically-closed eyes, finger raised. "
The subject was yet again changed. "And yup. We've got a nice library. Two stories tall. You should be able to find what you need there." Then came that telling yawn. Shin nodded, jotted some things down on a sheet of paper, then put it in a folder. He handed Alexander his room key, and got to his feet. "Follow me. I'll show you to your room."
