it's time,
waking up,
Apielogies , and
Looking for a friend. Ic:
Upon returning to work at the mansion, after a few strait days of working at the aquarium Raina had decided to enlist the help of some of the mansion residences. Of course, they wouldn't be handling anything confidential but the office needed a cleanup, files needed to be organized, inquires responded to, packages sent out, and newbie packs created.
Raina had convinced
Chad and Donna to help her today and so far they were doing a fantastic job. While Donna generally preferred moving around as a blob of mud given her good mood at being invited to help she was a solid human today. besides, Raina was trying her best to get as many students involved in the mansion's inner workings as possible these days... because really the core group couldn't manage it all all the time.
"How's this looking Raina?" asked Chad as he stepped back from a book shelf he'd just assembled.
"That's fantastic Chad! Great job. I was worried this old one was going to fall over at any minute! If you want to start swapping the books I'd really appreciate it." said Raina looking up over her shoulder from the filing cabinet she was practically bent inside of.
Raina had decided to take some of Dr. Grays advice and get caught up on her work. He suggested that answers to her dream questions would rise but only with time... so there was no point stopping everything and waiting around for them! Though she was feeling good about getting things done now, she still couldn't shake the residual effects of the dream... one being that she couldn't seem to transform.
It was quite frustrating to Raina, given the fact she'd recently re-obtained her ability to chant. Obviously it wouldn't be the end of the world to her if her powers dissappeared but given the serious nature of their relationship Raina was thankful she could relate to Luke on a mutant level. She didn't like this tug of war her body was playing- Dr Gray insisted she was ruled by emotions- was she a mutant or not? (Dr Gray was actually quite fascinated by the idea of regression...)
"Miss Raina?" Donna's voice chimed in breaking Raina's thought patterns. "Where did you want these?"
Raina looked up. Oh thank goodness, some greenery!
"You can put them where ever you'd like Donna!" replied Raina happy to see the site of plants once again in her office. She felt a twinge of guilt over the last batch she'd neglected and was thankful a mutant with plant powers didn't decide to punish her over that one.
She again buried herself in the files that were supposed to be alphabetized but clearly weren't went the phone rang. She lifted her head but managed to forget somehow that she was inside a filing cabinet and smashed it. "argh!"
"hahaha. Don't worry. I'll get it." laughed Chad taking on the form of an eagle obviously showing off for Donna all for the purpose of flying all of 4 feet to the phone. He reshaped as a human and picked up the receiver "helllooo" he said in a funny tone. "Yes, this is her office. One moment please!" he did his best to sound professional.
Raina was now standing upright holding a pile of files in her hand muttering to herself at how they needed to be updated. "Raina?" called Chad. Donna inclined her head to see what was going on and if she could be of some help while she finished arranging the plants.
"Ah Chad, why dont you just take a me-"
"it's a Mr. Kelley. You want me to take a message?"
Raina stood blinking for a moment searching her brain. It could just be anyone out there with the same last name right? Maybe a new student? Maybe a parent? Hopefully an investor?
She hesitated a moment and both Chad and Donna sensed the change in the atmosphere. They watched her for any signs of what was wrong.
Raina uncreased her eyebrows and did her best not to look scared. She could just have him take a message. There wouldn't be any harm in it. But while her brain was thinking that she'd already dropped the files and her hand was already reaching for the receiver.
Donna looked at her with a puzzled expression and squatted down to pick up the files.
"Hello?"
The voice on the other end confirmed her fear and suddenly everything she'd been trying to ignore about the dream came rushing back.
*End*
