The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The store was slowly making it's way toward being more self-sufficient. Ghost had hired someone else to help manage the place, and ever since she'd had more free time. More free time meant she could get back to her danger room training. The only problem was that it had been quite some time since she had done much of anything.
Between jail and riots and work, she'd hardly been back at the Mansion to sleep let alone do anything else. And ever since she'd had that strange dream about the future, Ghost didn't want to loose touch with the people there. She didn't want a lot of other things to happen either, but changing the future started with the present. Do things differently now and hopefully that would be enough to change them for later as well. Or something like that...
Ghost sighed a slithering sigh and made her way toward the danger room. It was the best thing to get her mind away from everything. She just needed something light, to get her back into the swing of things. And cheerful, because she'd seen ten years worth of sadness in one night.
That meant one thing for Ghost: The fantasy program. Tiger hunt with a prince? Rescue a damsel in distress? Visit a colony of gnomes and attempt diplomacy? The options were vast and while some were silly sounding, others like 'find and rescue the unicorn' didn't sound as ridiculous after meeting certain mutants.
Ghost decided to go for a classic. Rescue the princess, though, since she was a girl and was feeling pretty girl powered, she changed it be rescue the prince. Ghost punched the activation key and the panel faded away and the Danger Room transformed from shiny, sterile metal to grassy fields, forests, blue skies and rainbows. Now where was that prince hiding?
Cailyn had heard of the dangerroom from katrina but she never had the courage to go there until she head about the fun stories you could play there. She just had to check it out atleast, maybe find out a fun story to play in. Maybe something winnie the poohish.
She finally got the courage to go down there. She skittered there in a very cautious manner. Who knew what she would down there first. Maybe there was a ticket booth, maybe a line. Where there bathrooms just in case. And could she get a bandage there. Those where some questions she had running through her head.
Once she finally got there it seemed she got in. It was a big metal room one second and the other she was standing in a forest. Here eyes went big with amazement. It was just like a story. She ventured through the forest to find little green men running around in bambo made skirts with little sticks. They looked funny and made funny sounds. Cailyn pulled a smile at them and said: "Hello." They didn't take kindly to strangers and they started throwing their "Spears". She got scared and ran of into the forest until she saw a familiar face. It was the bookstore women she had seen two times in a bookstore. She ran towards her and said: "Help, little green men are angry."
"Hymn?" Ghost formed a slicing wind to cut through the projectiles aimed for the girl's back. Their momentum was cut short literally. Well, she had asked for the DR to use projectiles as often as was plausible so that she could practice stopping them. She'd seen too many rocks and boots sail through her air barriers to not practice some anti-boot measures.
"Are you alright, Hymn?" Ghost caught the slightly panicked looking girl's upper arms and looked at her eyes to confirm that she would live before turning to step between Hymn and the green men.
"We mean no harm." She held up her hands, empty of any weapon. But she was ready to bat away any more spears they might have hiding in their little loincloths. "We're just passing through. Have you seen a young prince on a charger? He was last seen hunting ogres in these woods." Ghost winked at Hymn and readied herself for an attack or a bit of information.
Ghost was her rescuer today. Lot's of mansion people seemed to be in the rescue mood allot. But now there where other things to worry about. The little green men where speaking a langauge she couldn't understand and they didn't exactly have minds seeing as they where light. She nodded in a respondse to ghost's question. She pulled a tiny toothpick sized spear out of her chest. It didn't hurt her it just hanged in her clothes. She looked at it and found it very amuzing how tiny it was.
Ghost tried to reason with the little green men. The green men still talked jiberish to her. Maybe ghost spoke green man langauge. Cailyn hid behind ghost to keep herself safe. She did that allot, hiding behind things and people. The green men where still hurdling up doing their strange angry dance with jiberish. She just prayed ghost knew what to do, else they wood be green men food. Sort of speak ofcourse.
They made funny noises at her. At first she almost thought they were making fun of her, but really the words and tone were unintelligible. Had she really expected it to be that easy? Yeah, actually. Ghost took a step back. "I don't think they like us." And when they started pulling the needle-like javelins out from the forrest floor (turns out they were a dried out tree leaf like a pine needle, but sturdier), she knew they didn't like them.
"Run!" She summoned a small barrier, they were small so it shouldn't take a full sized one, and made sure the rotation of the wind wall ended facing the small men. That way if they threw their toothpick-sized weapons hopefully they would get caught in the wind and fall back toward their own men. Of course a really good throw would make it through, but how strong were the little buggers?
Ghost ran and made sure to follow Hymn. They were lost in the woods. Why would it matter which way they ran? As long as it was away from the pointy sticks wielded by angry green men, that seemed a good direction to Ghost.
Ghost was right, the little men looked agitated enough to attack them even if both of them where allot bigger. She had no powers over them though, they weren't real. Not that she had actual control over her powers allot but that was besides the point. The little spears they where holding seemed painfull enough when hit in the eye or something. Ghost was thinking what Cailyn was thinking and that was: "Run!"
Cailyn was in front of ghost but she had no clue where to run too. It was all a big forest and she never been here to say the least. This would actually be the first she is in a forest. A fake holographic forest though, but a forest non the less. When she thought the little people stopped following them, Cailyn stopped and caught her breath. She sat down on the floor and looked around. Yup completly and utterly lost. She looked up to ghost and asked: "What is the story?" This would be a story they where playing, right ?
Ghost stopped when Hymn stopped. When no toothpicks came sailing at her eyes, Ghost deemed this part of the woods safe enough for a breather. "The story is that the Prince is missing. He went out on his white horse to hunt ogres and never came home. Do you know this story? We're the princesses and we're going to have to rescue him. Wherever he went..."
As she was talking something white caught her eye. White was not a common color in the forest. Did she stick out that much?
Peeking around a tree, Ghost discovered a horse white as the snow, white as her hair. Unfortunately the horse didn't seem to be in the best condition. He whined at Ghost from behind his bit. "Poor guy." Ghost went to pull his tack off so at least he could be more comfortable. She tossed the bags back to Hymn to look through while she took off everything else.
"The story is that the Prince is missing. He went out on his white horse to hunt ogres and never came home. Do you know this story? We're the princesses and we're going to have to rescue him. Wherever he went..."
She listened to the story as if it was real. As if there really was a prince on a white horse in trouble in this forest. Ofcourse it wasn't real, it was just holograms. But to her it was as real as anything. This was something to work, something to believe in. Not the real world that hates her for what she can do. This would be a world to live in.
Suddenly they both noticed the white horse, which probably had seen beter days. It was carrying bags on his back. Ghost tended the animal as she tossed the bags to her. She wanted to pet the horsie though. She walked up to the horse too and gently and slowly placed her hand on his head. It was soft and it was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen.
She then went back to the bags. She didn't know how to tend for a animal like that and maybe there was something in the bag. A book or bandaids of some sort. She ruffled through the bag and found nothing but food and water and a very interresting peice of paper. It has marks on it, maybe it was a map of some sort. It didn't help the horse though. Cailyn inspected the Map with great care as ghost did her part.
"Hey, that isn't ogres..." Ghost peeked over Hymn's shoulder at the map that had picture of nests and scaled and winged creatures. "I think those are dragons. That prince is gonna be in big trouble when Momma Queen finds out he went treasure hunting." Ghost nodded and folded the tack away into the bags. The food, Ghost offered to the horse so that she and Hymn could pet the horse's nose. The nose is the softest spot, after all.
When Hymn finished looking at the map and petting the horse, it was time to go again. Maps in this day and age weren't really all that great, but at least this one was easy to read. The big X was on top of a big jut of rock that had to be a mountain or something. Considering there was only one big mountain around that meant that was where they were now headed.
Ghost swished her arms along her skirt as they walked. The bids were chirping in the trees and the Forest was very alive and not very scary. It would be a pleasant walk until they would have to climb up rocks. Hopefully they could avoid the dragon's nests and find the Prince before a dragon found them!
Did ghost just say dragons. As in the big lizard things with wings and tails and fire breath. Those things where mostly dangerous unless you where some type of knight with a big shield and sword. She wasn't a knight for sure and she was pretty sure ghost wasn't one either. "Dragons?!" she asked scared and confused as she looked at ghost. How where they going to defeat dragons, by a game of cards? Cause that was something she could win, if the dragons had minds and weren't holograms. So many things could go wrong if she didn't have her powers to look over her.
And they where of towards the big x, leaving the horse behind. Cailyn petted it one more time and followed ghost. When the horse was out of sight, she got scared. Scared that the horse might not find his way home or gets hurt again. "Will he be ok?" She asked a bit sadly while looking back into the direction of the horse. She didn't want to leave such a beautiful creature behind without making sure he was fine. And ofcourse if there where dragons involved, it could mean more trouble for the poor thing. Never the less, she would stick with ghost seeing as she knew how to read maps and probably kept her safe. Her safety was important
"I think he will be just fine." Ghost didn't worry about animals as much as everyone else seemed to. Especially the holographic ones. It just seemed silly to worry about a holographic animal when there were usually holographic people to save. Or real people for that matter. Ghost had once met a mutant that seemed to definitely care for animals more than people or even other mutants. Didn't really make sense to her, but that wasn't what they were doing here anyway.
They were here to rescue the Prince! If they could have ridden the hurt horse in to save him, that would have been awesome. But the horse was hurt and he had to rest. "Don't forget we have a Prince to save. He is more lost than us because we have the map!" And that put a nice spring in her step. Dragons or no dragons.
When Hymn and Ghost came to the edge of the woods, Ghost paused and looked all around, especially up. There only seemed to be birds in the air so far so maybe it was safe for now. "Well, up we go? Do you want a lift?" She could make this go faster by using her air power to lift Hymn while she went incorporeal. The mountain would be nothing.
"Don't forget we have a Prince to save. He is more lost than us because we have the map!"
Ok prince was priority number one. The horsie would be ok eventually. The prince didn't have his map so he couldn't get home. The prince needed to get home. He was with dragons, and that wasn't good. She nodded in agreement with ghost. She understood what had to be done. And ofcourse this wasn't real, but it looked very real to her.
They walked for a little while until the edge of the forest. There was a big mountain right in front of them. Well the mountain was big for her but she never saw a mountain before. She looked up and she saw birds. Strange, weren't the birds scared of the dragons? "Look, birdies." She said and tilted her head.
"Well, up we go? Do you want a lift?"
A lift. Could she do that? Just conjure up a lift with wires and buttons and everything. This was worth seeing to say the least. "Yeah." She said happy and excited. let's see what kind of lift ghost had in store for her.
Hymn consented so Ghost summoned the gale. The air pressure around Hymn's body, especially her torso, tightened to keep her upright so that when the time came to put her back on her feet, her feet would be facing the ground. Ghost inhaled sharply and all but disappeared into her ghost state. The wind howled and lifted Hymn off of her toes and the two of them passed upward toward the top of the mountain. Because at the top of the mountain was where the X was.
The birds that Hymn noticed flying so high got closer and closer the higher they got. And they kept getting bigger and bigger. In fact they weren't bird but flying dragons. But Ghost didn't notice them even when they went closer and closer because her sight while incorporeal was not very good and the dragons were still flying and quite far away looking for tasty morsels to eat.
When they came to an opening near the top of the mountain, Ghost set Hymn down on her feet and Ghost started the process of becoming solid again.
Ghost had a different mode of transportation in mind the Cailyn did. Cailyn thought of a elevator and not flying. Hymn felt pressure around her entire body as she was lifted in the air. At first it was a bit scary since this wasn't normal for her. But after a while she felt safe and it even was a bit fun.
She saw the mountain pass by as she flew around with ghost the friendly ghost floating next to her. She saw the birds come close and pass by. The prince must be on top of the mountain or something seeing as they went pretty high. In the distance she saw the dragons. She eeped and hoped that they didn't notice the two of them flying to their lair.
Once they got to the top of the mountain, She was put down there. "That was fun." She said out loud with a childish voice. She looked around.Yup, it was indeed a dragons lair. There where bones everywhere and nests with big eggs. Those eggs would make a large enough omelet to feed a small village. No sight of the prince yet though. She wasn't exactly motivated to look around without supervision.
Ghost set Hymn down next to some round looking rocks and set about the task of becoming solid again. She didn't realize that she had put Hymn in a nest of eggs until she was completely solid again and could see wit her eyes. To make matter worse and even scarier, one of those "birds" seemed to spot them and started flying fast and hard toward their location on wings not made of feathers.
