The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jaxon was dressed to work out, loose fitting work-out shorts, a white tank-top, sneakers, and her hair was pulled up into a pony-tail at the top of her head. She had been planning to use the training room to practice her kickboxing, but at the last minute changed her mind. She set the simulation to some moving targets, wanting to see if she could direct a creature to attack a specific thing.
After the scene in the room changed, Jaxon pulled open the door and moved to the center, thinking of which creature she wanted to use. After a moment’s hesitation, she decided on one of the new creatures that had started appearing. A thing that had insect eyes and seemed to have no mouth, looked like a seventy pound mushroom with stumpy legs, and had spikes on its back… Spikes that could shoot out at will and then be retracted by what looked like chain. One of the stranger things she had created, that was for sure.
Shaking her arms and legs, trying to relax like she had been practicing, she took a deep breath and focused on the spot in front of her, summoning the spiked mushroom and watching as it formed out of wisps of insubstantial smoke. When it was fully formed, Jax began focusing on one of the swinging targets. A few simple red balls swayed back and forth in the training room, at various heights and distances.
Jax chose a close one and began to try and make the creature attack it, blocking out every thing else.
Aura walked down the hallway, dressed in one of her worn skirts as well as a black tank top which was slightly to big for her. Her hair was tied back in a simple white ribbon. Aura smiled to herself as she kept walking, her feet taking her to the training room almost automatically. She had intensified her training in the wake of her recent loss as well as the incident at the bank. Strength was needed, in much greater quanitys then what she had. Stopping for a moment she kneeled down and scratched her faithful skunk behind it's ears then started on her way again.
Aura noticed the door to the training room was open and something was going on inside of it, most likely someone was using the room. Curious about who might be in the room, she approached the door quietly and looked in to spot Jaxon. Tilting her head she looked on the creature she had made with her power. It was larger then the one in the hall way this one actually looked like it could deal some damage. Aura watched as Jaxon tried to direct it to attack, Aura stayed quite wanting to see what the creature could do. She wanted to try her hand at fighting the beast herself, but had no idea how far Jaxon had come with her abillities or what effect a fatel blow might have on the creature, slipping into the room for a better look she kept her back to the wall trying to stay out of the way, still a think pink Aura surrounded her just in case somthing in the simulation actually attacked though it looked more like target practice.
Once again the creature made Aura wonder just what else she could call and if their world really was in her mind. She thought a world with creatures like this and like the littile one in the hallway could be interesting to try and visit though how she would ever find her way to such a land was unknown to her. In truth it might be impossible but it was intresting to consider.
Jaxon had worked on this before, and simply reaching for the target didn’t work. The last time she had been here, she had worked for nearly an hour before finding something that started to work. Unfortunately she had been too tired to fully test it, so here she was again.
Feeling for the link to the creature, Jaxon followed it to the mushroom, then she began pushing the edge of the link, reaching through the beast rather than around it. The power snaked towards the target, but her aim was wobbly and she winced when the mushroom beast simply sun in a circle, looking for what it was being directed at.
Tightening her face, she tried again, feeling like she was threading a needle from twenty feet away. After a shaky struggle, she felt the power get close enough to the target and the stumpy creature focused on the target.
At first it seemed confused about what Jaxon wanted it to do and it hesitated. After a push from Jax though, it seemed to catch on, and reluctantly turned back to the target. Shaking in a strange perversion of a wet dog, the spikes on its back rattled as if in warning. Then suddenly a spike shot out, the chain linking it to the body following it, the mushroom jerking at the release.
Jaxon wanted to celebrate. I figured it out! But the feeling couldn’t travel down the connection, so Jax shut it down and began reeling the power back. As her focus widened, she noticed Aura.
Giving her a sheepish smile, Jax waved, and began to pull the power out of the creature as she turned. “Hey Aura.”
Aura watched as the mushroom man did it's best to follow Jaxons commands. The rattling chains were an interesting touch to the creature and not for the first time Aura wished she could get into the world Jaxon called these creatures from it looked as though it could provide many interesting fights. Aura stayed quite until Jaxon noticed her, and she offerd a smile back. "Hey" she said back looking over to Jaxon. Jaxon had looked like she was really trying to focus and Aura hoped she was not bothering her to much.
"An interesting friend you have thare" She said wondering what else it could do becides use those chains. It was a giant mushroom so Aura considered the idea it could well be poisonous. She moved to get a better look at the creature. She liked this one better then the other one she had seen Jaxson summon, recalling the creature having walked right up the wall. Looking back up she looked around the room, it was easy to see the type of training they were doing even if she had not just watched it. "This one new?" she asked her curiosity growing on the creature. She kept a bit of distence between ehrself and the mushroom as she was unsure how it might react. She wonderd if it was fast not the chains but it's body it was hard to imagine.
"Have you fought with it?" Aura asked her curisosity growing and she could not deny she had an alterier motive, she wanted to fight one of these creatures simply because she thought it might be fun. Still she was unsure if Jaxon could use this one well enough in an actual fight, it seemed confused at several points just attacking targets, not a fast moving deadly enimy. "I would not mind fighting one of these wonderous creatures" she said openly, kind of excited at the possabillity.

Jaxon still didn’t quite understand why the people in the sanctuary seemed to find her demons so interesting. Maybe if she wasn’t the one making them, if she could look at them objectively, then she might be able to see the fascination. But Jaxon was too close to them. “Yeah, sometimes.”
Nodding at Aura’s question, Jaxon didn’t mention how her powers had been growing since the incident at the circus. The new creatures were the easiest part of it to deal with. The mushroom, now without direction from Jax, was waddling around slowly. “One of a few new ones…”
“No, no… I haven’t fought any of them. I don’t think I could.” Jaxon didn’t think any of the ones she summoned were capable of attacking her. She didn’t even want to try the ones she had summoned accidentally. “And I’m not sure how much fun this thing would be.” Jax shrugged with a chuckle, “But if you want to play with it…”
Leaving the words hanging, Jax motioned for Aura to go ahead if she wanted to.
((You can take some control of the creature in your posts if you feel you need to.))
She had to admit she was unsure how the mushroom man would fare against her as well, it was slow, from the waddling movements it made. "I would imagine fighting them would be like fighting yourself, so i can see that" she replied thinking about it. It had not quite been what she meant bu that was ok as Jaxon seemed to get it a step or two later. She looked over the mushroom creature again curiously. Walking closer to Jaxon she instead looked at her, with her usual friendly smile.
"I can't say i don't wish to fight a few of your creatures simply to fight things i would not otherwise encounter, but fighting a living target maybe useful for you as well, after all when the time comes to dance, these will be your partners, just like my Aura is mine" She explained, mostly she just wanted to help Jaxon learn to control the creature in combat as well as her own selfish reasons.
Aura rubbed her temples closing her eyes for a moment, trying to clear images from her head, images of the old days, the good and the bad tended to flow to her whenever she had not fought in a few hours, for her fighting was a way to relax and to live, one of the only things she really knew to do in life. Still she did offer to let her play with the creature which was a kind offer to Aura, still she looked at Jaxon.
"The creatures are Nice, but the value in dancing with them is to play with you, still if your game i am" She said with a smile, even so she looked back to the creatures, her Aura forming a blade from her knuckles this time, unsure if the creature had any other surprises, walking a short distance away, she once again touched her temple as if to signal her mind, relief was coming, things would soon be ok. Aura moved forward carefully watching the creature but keeping Jaxon in view, she wanted to eatch her as well, to see if she could see any signals that passed between the two while they worked. Finally Aura moved forward punching with her hand and aiming right for what she assumed was the face of the mushroom creature,

Jax hesitated, her face showing her uncertainty about the idea. She was only just getting control of the new creatures, and still hadn’t quite mastered pushing them to objectives. The only time she had really seen them fight was when they or she was in danger… But she hadn’t been in control.
But Jax was tired of being a weak link, so she was willing to try Aura’s idea. “I… Okay.”
Watching Aura prepare, made Jaxon think she should do the same. Feeling for the link to the creature, she tried to send it the idea, images and feelings, about what was going to happen. It shook itself, looking like it was made of jello for a moment, then it turned to face Aura.
When Aura lunged for it, her fist shooting out, the creature made a rumbling noise that sounded like it came from the center of the animal. It shifted its weight and the pink blade slid along its side rather than through its body, leaving a cut that oozed clear and yellow blood. In response, the creature rattled its spikes together, turning slowly and dropping its front legs so that it’s back of spikes pointed towards Aura.
Jax had backed away, her gaze on the fight and her back to the wall.
Aura slid by having not expected the creature to possess much of an ability to dodge and now she was looking at a back full of spikes. Aura's eyes scanned the creature carefully, as she kept moving slowly circelling to the left of it. The Skin of the creature was thin or at least her blade had gone through it with little effort. Still the creature seemed like it could care less about it's wound and took on a posture of defense. Quickly thinking to herself, she reformed her Aura blade into an axe, the aura flowing to form the weapon her will told it to.
Aura smiled, she believed if she tried to go around the creature it would simply move to keep the spikes to her, the other Issue was knowing they could fire out at her and catch her off guard. Still she moved forward in a quick and fluid motion. She was happy this creature would be harder then it looked to take down, bringing her arm up as she came within range of the creature she brought the Axe down, trying to split the creature in two, figuring if it did hit a spike it would likely slide off and wound the creature anyway. Through this Aura kept her ears open trying to make sure her hits were not causing Jaxson any actual harm without taking to much attention away from the battle at hand. She also considerd what other creatures Jaxon might have at her disposel and also noted if she had really been fighting, she would have ignored the creature entirely and struck at the source, Jaxon, without her Aura assumed the creatures would not last, still this was training and Jaxon was a friend.

Watching Aura transform her pink blade, Jaxon bit her lip. The mushroom creature saw it too and made a stiff noise of outrage, its spikes rattling together again. Jax couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the thing, she had brought it here… or created it… or whatever she did.
The rattling of the spikes interfered with the swing of Aura’s axe, the blade breaking through one of the spikes and then sliding down the sink into the strange flesh of the creatures back. The spike lessened the blow enough that it didn’t slice straight through the soft flesh; rather the axe sank into the body until it would have been stuck- if it had been a real weapon.
The creature rumbled in a loud sound of pain and outrage, jerking back trying to dislodge the weapon of pain, but only jerking on the pink extension of Aura. Jaxon winced. She couldn’t feel the pain of the creature but she could feel the tug at the power link, and the urge to completely shut down the power was strong. In a strange way it seemed wrong to use these creature for training, needless…
Somthing was wrong the creature was not attacking and was clearly no match for blades, even though it was clearly botherd by her blowes. Aura backed away her, blade turning to energy, then flowing back to her. Weather it was Jaxon or the creature decideing, they could not win a battile simply on defence, it would lessen the damage but what did make it through would acumulate and eventually over take you anyway. Pushing a few stray strands of hair from her face she considerd her options carefully.
She decided to try and adress the creature itself. "You will not win this, like this, you can feel pain and it seemed seperate from your mother. That tells me, you and her are both thinking creatures, you must help her to guide you, as she will for you. Together you are beauitiful and powerful. I do not know how your bond works with her, but you must find a way to tell her what you are and what you need, and this needs not words, but the will to survive" she said sounding almosy annoyed with the creature and completely unsure if the thing understood english. "Becides, im not sure if you can die, but i can tell you do not like pain, to avoid it fight well, use your strength against your opponents weakness, You can fight long range, i can not" She explained seemingly having calmed down she hoped the creature was not already to wounded to fight. She looked over to jaxon, a smile on her lips. "I beleive your creatures are intellagent, which i think means they all have likes and dilikes of their own, i do not claim to know what you can do fully, but i beleive trust and understanding the personality of each creature may be the key, in any case not attacking will make you lose every time and make your creatures suffer." she said hoping her words helped, but she did beleive the creature to be thinking creature now. She did not strike, their was littile point in continueing that line of attack.
Watching Aura back away, Jax for a moment thought the fight was over. Then she started speaking to the creature. After a moment or two, Jax knew what the problem was… and it was her fault. It wasn’t surprising that the creature wasn’t fighting back; Jax didn’t want it to hurt Aura. It was following her instincts rather than its own.
The mushroom staggered, its fluids flowing down the side of its body with the sudden lack of a blade in the wound, rumbling in pain and anger. It was conflicted. The pain made it want to attack, but its link to Jaxon and the instincts being forced on it made the animal want to avoid fighting.
“I know Aura, but I’ve never summoned a creature to fight a friend. I don’t know how to turn off the connection that makes the creatures do what I feel. It is not exact control…” Jaxon shrugged slightly, her face unsure. She had only just started being able to direct the emotion at a target. She didn’t know how to direct a creature when she had conflicting emotions about the situation.
“I don’t want it to hurt you no matter how much I do want to learn or practice. I think I have to want it to attack. I can’t just let go or…” Jaxon could relax the ‘leash’ she had on the creature, like when she was untrained and the creatures ran wild, but ever since the incident at the Circus, she was scared to do that. Jaxon didn’t want her own creatures attacking her like the minotaur looking thing had done.
OOC: Sorry for the long time between posts, I've been busier than I expected and every time I plan to log on something happens. I should be back to posting regularly after 4th of july weekend. Sorry again. *sheepish*
Aura nodded as Jaxon explained the issue at hand, she was preventing the creature from attacking her, though it seemed to want to. "I understand" Aura said, letting her Aura for the most part fade. Unsure how to help her friend over come this boundry she thought to herself. If Jaxon did not want to attack the creature would never be able to, still for some reason Jaxon trying to control the creatures seemed to her to be the wrong path, it seemed a much better idea to embrace the creatures them selfs. Still she had littile idea on how jaxon worked her power and for now she assumed the fight was basicly over. Their was no point in hurting the creature further, petting the mushroom man on the ehad she smiled. "Im sorry" she said nicely to it.
"I have been hurt worse then i believe that mushroom capable my friend, but i would imagine it is hard to hurt a friend for most people, so it's nothing to be worried about. I Simply got over excited on the prospect of fighting such wondrous creatures." she said moving closer to jaxon now, fairly sure the creature would not attack as long as jaxon kept it from doing so and she made no aggressive moves against her. "I suppose im just use to fighting, it's all i really know how to do, i was trained simply to be a weapon" she said simply flexing her back a bit. Running a hand through her hair she looked around the room again recalling the old days a for a few minutes.
Jaxon watch Aura pet the creature, something she wasn’t sure about. Shaking her head, pulling the power back into herself, she made the mushroom fade back to wherever it came from. Before Jaxon had powers she hadn’t been as worried about other people. She could spar and play fight without worrying that she might hurt people.
Now… Things were different. Jaxon’s demons could actually hurt people, maybe even kill them. “I know you can take care of yourself… but I’ve never been able to hurt anyone, not really, not physically.” Jaxon was what a friend called ‘pocket sized,’ and had always had to work to hold her own, rather than to hold herself back.
Remembering the previous things Aura had told her about her life, Jax sighed. “Having powers really messes us up doesn’t it…” The rhetorical question applied to both girls, probably more to Aura who had been through a lot more because of her powers, but Jaxon could feel the ways that she was changing because of hers. Ways she never thought she would.
"Im not really sure" Aura said an unusual bit of hesitation in her voice. "I can't recall much from before my powers activated, i recall Humans trapping me and others in a cage and after that, but things before that just won't come to me. I can not recall my parents faces for example not that they would matter anyway But i guess it's a bit harder for me to make that determination. I was raised simply to be a weapon and to be completely loyal to those over me, even if i do not respect their ideals and to that end i try and improve my usefulness by fighting and growing stronger as much as i can." Aura explained leaving out it was almost all she knew how to do. Her lost memory troubled her, but it was something she could normally put to rest in the back of her mind.
"Before all is said and done, many of our friends and family, will lie dead around us. That is a natural outcome of war but also by growing stronger i can save those i care about, unlike the last time" She said still haunted by her failure to save her freinds, Aura's voice was bitter at the end. "I Have no illusions about living until mutants are truely the dominant species of this world, but any contribution i can make will mean just that much more. I am not sure im really answering your question though" Aura said not understanding the concept of a rhetorical question. "Their are people i do not like hurting as well friends, children those unable to defend themselfs, but no matter what my own morals may be, Orders always come first" Aura said simply, it was a fact she lived by and had killed many friends for, simply to prevent their capture. Aura smiled with a shrug. "I suppose i forget that fighting is not as natural for others as it is me" she said looking at the small drops of blood that were still on the ground.
Having no memory… Aura and Jaxon had more in common than one might think. Jaxon now knew that the bits and pieces of dreams and strange memories were real, but before she found out what it all meant, she hadn’t been able to remember anything before the age of six. Jaxon would have said something but, part of what Aura said caught her attention. Those over her… but didn’t she say that the people before had died?
“I thought there wasn’t anyone over you anymore?” Jaxon left off the latter portion of her question, despite her curiosity; who do you need to be useful to? Jaxon hadn’t yet been introduced to The Order, so Aura’s comment went over her head a bit, thinking that she had simply been talking about orders she had been given in the past.
“War…?” Jaxon hadn’t heard much of this ‘dominant species’ thing, or the idea that what was going on around her was a war. It was on the tip of her tongue to ask who the enemy was, but just as she started to say it she realized the answer. Humans, the Church of Humanity, Government, prejudice… There must be even more that Jaxon hadn’t even thought of yet. She felt so out of the loop being a ‘new’ mutant.
Jaxon was mad at her parents but they, and most of the people Jaxon had known, didn’t deserve to die. And her new friends, the people here at the Sanctuary… for all their intensity and sometimes wild behavior, they didn’t deserve to die. Jaxon’s confusion was evident in her broken and scattered speech.
“Aura… Not everyone… I mean, why do… Who made…” The ends of the sentences echoed in her head. …is bad…people have to die?... this into a war?... Aura, despite her somewhat strange demeanor and past, seemed to be the one who knew what was going on and didn’t mince words. Aura was easily becoming Jaxon’s link to the Sanctuary and the unknown Order, possibly a best friend- or whatever passed as one around here. An odd and unlikely friendship, for sure, but strangely Jaxon felt like she could trust Aura.
Jaxon gave a halfhearted chuckle. “I don’t know what to think most of the time. I feel like I only know pieces of the puzzle and parts of the question…”
