The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

More blood not by his own hand but by the cheerleader, he blinked as another tentacle flew through the air, then another, and another. He was un-phased by the cheerleader’s brutality to the man with the tentacles. It was human nature after all wasn’t it do to other before what they do to you. The expression on her face wasn’t one of fear it wasn’t really an expression of anything she seemed distant to the whole thing, even when she threw the knife at the man who just rounded a corner.
He looked back to the man that was under him then the tentacle man who was clearly fighting a losing battle then to the man who ran in and got hit by the knife that was once the cheerleaders. That was his next target the cheerleader could clearly handle the tentacle man even if she wasn’t trained to kill.
He left his defensive stance and charged the man before he could regain his composure. The knife still logged in his firing arm he tried to remove it but before he could even pull it out another blade found it’s way under the jaw. The ice slid up from under his jaw like quickly and smoothly like a warm knife cuts through butter. After the man fell Sam pressed his hands on the ground and created an ice slick for any oncoming targets that would respond to the commotion.
Sam knew his target the one he was truly there for would make his appearance soon the one he was after would most likely not be apart of the ones in this room. The only one that it could have been was the tentacle man… but his mission was to keep him alive and well… things weren’t going according to the mission outline so he would have to improvise. He knew that if he couldn’t keep the leader alive Mr. Jackson would have wanted him dead so… depending how things went the mission could be somewhat of a success.
Turning his head to the cheerleader he blinked once and waited for her his attention on the corner where the others world be coming from however many should be left.
Lori breathed and the air felt thick and tasted like pennies. "I don't want to do this anymore." She didn't have anything in her hands or anyway to protect herself. For a moment it had been about revenge. Now they were just here... and not yet done and out.
What was she going to say to the cheer captain? How was she going to explain where she'd been? And... her white shoes. They had blood on them. She went to scratch at the side to get the red off, but the padding squished. It actually squished. Her socks were wet. They were going to kill her. Suddenly she needed a cigarette very badly.
"He took my cigarettes." And she needed to keep up with this kid and protect him... because that was working out sooo well so far.
The cheerleader gripped her hands tight. Let's go."

Running through the numbers of bodies in his head he looked back into the room briefly and sighed. He couldn’t remember everything that head lead up to this moment. There was far too much going on, the cheerleader was a distraction far more than even he liked to deal with and his patience for distractions was limited. No longer did he assume she was back up, the way she handled things… very un-T.A.T. like, even if she was new she wouldn’t have gotten that worked up about a kill but instead she hacked and hacked the tentacles.
The only reason he didn’t kill her was well… she tried to protect him something no one has every really done for Sam before. It was all to confusing and there was no reason to kill her, she did take care of tentacles for her, that meant there was one or two more people he needed to handle.
The boss for example he knew it wasn’t tentacles because tentacles was the one taking orders, then again who knows he could have very well killed the boss already, or she could have… he mentally sighed and just decided it was easier to kill everyone there. Everyone except the woman who clutched her hands and told him it was wise to keep going.
Nodding his head Sam followed not because they were heading to the exit but they were also more likely to run into more trouble the fat man whose mutation if he had one would pose a problem of sorts… the best way to handle him was with the element of surprise.
Other wise Sam ran the risk of getting hit again and seeing as the window was already closing if he didn’t wrap things up anytime soon this place was going to be swarming with T.A.T. agents and odds are they would find the cheerleader and that was something Sam didn’t want to have happen. She was too nice to be killed, the hero in him wouldn’t allow it so he had to figure a way to get things done as fast as possible.
Opportunity came a knocking when he heard the monstrous footsteps of the bulbous man his breathing was heavy and loud as he was ready to come around the corner they were approaching no doubt ready to pounce should they be someone other than his employees. Sending a wave of blue from his hand the floor in front of them iced over and it traced around the corner, with luck the big guys out weight would be his downfall.
He did it again. It wasn't like she could ignore the fact that this kid was a freak. Lori put her hand out to keep him back from the doorway. She'd heard him too and her arms were shaking. Just a few more obstacles to freedom. They were going to make it. And she wasn't going to let anything else happen to either of them.
Welts from the tentacles were showing up on her outstretched arm. She was going to look like a complete wreck when she got back to camp. Not if anymore. When.
> "Come out come oooout." His voice was low and rumbled through the walls. Not mutant powered, just the voice of someone with a big set of pipes.
"You can't hurt us. We have special powers." Well. At least one of them did. And he'd already used them all over the floor.
He chuckled from around the wall and then... started unloading his pistol through it.

A hand was placed in front of him and he stopped, he looked at the arm and it was shaking. Was it fear that gripped her or was she just tired, he was used to incidents like this but her… he winched slightly as he looked at her arm some more there were welts, she was hurt. He looked away with guilt all over his face. He was trained to save people he was trained to be a hero he wasn’t much of a hero if he couldn’t even save one cheerleader, how could he ever save the world?
His attention was brought back to the fat man when he his deep voice echoed from around the wall. Sam didn’t say anything, he didn’t need to he knew where the fat man was due to the footsteps and now hearing his voice he was just on the other side of the wall. Upon quite footsteps Sam inched closer to the wall ready to strike through it, ready to end this mess and kill the head honcho so he could get T.A.T. agents up in here to clean the place out.
He was about to make his move when the cheerleader spoke, snapping his head to her he frowned slightly and stepped towards her, she made the mistake of revealing their position. Stepping forward Sam grabbed the cheerleader and knew what was coming the laugh was all Sam needed to hear. His hand latched on her arm and doing his best not to hit any of the welts Sam pulled her as best he could and fell backwards pulling her with him. Falling backwards and a foot or two away from where they were Sam landed under the cheerleader.
The first bullet was inches from where the cheerleader was standing seconds before, and seconds later the wall was holed from the bullets. The man continued to laugh as he unloaded an entire clip at the wall. His eyes open for the most part Sam’s arm held tightly onto the cheerleader’s waist so she couldn’t move from where they were. She was already injured he just wanted to make sure no more harm would come to her.
The laughing continued as the sound of metal clinked against the wooden floor, odds were he had another gun waiting for him but that didn’t stop Sam from lifting his legs and turning rolling the cheerleader under him. He let go of her and looked at her and held his finger to his lips to give her the ‘quite’ sign before he slowly got off of her and silently moved closer to the wall staying low in the process.
She was so numb that it took her a while to realize why she was on the floor. She had almost been shot. Or maybe she was. She tried to check, but it didn't hurt... in fiction it was supposed to hurt. That meant that this kid had just saved her life. Lori lay very still and looked at Sammy with new eyes.
The kid she had been protecting now took the lead. That was so wrong, but she didn't make a peep if he wanted her to be quiet. She was a dead woman anyway. What good would saving him do if she only seemed to get him into more trouble?
This was what she got for... for... she didn't want to think about the blood. She stayed low and quiet. As soon as Sammy was around the corner, Lori was going to go around a different way. That meant there was less a chance of one of them getting hurt for real. Besides, there was only one sucker left that she knew of. Why not pincer him and be done with it?

Low to the ground and his breathing slowed Sam waited for a second to make sure it was safe to go in for the strike. He waited for a second and heard him rustling for something no doubt a clip or another gun. Focusing a small shard of ice in his hand Sam spotted the large man just doing what he had suspected turning his hand which was slightly in view of the man if he looked for it Sam spotted a couch a short distance from where he was, it was a big enough couch but it wouldn’t protect him from bullets if he had time to reload the gun, they turned the wall they were hiding behind Swiss cheese after all.
Crouching down and forming two small blades of ice in his hands Sam tucked and rolled as fast as he could heading towards the couch but he stopped half way and up righted himself before throwing both of the blades one hitting the hand reaching for the clip that was located at his side and then the other hitting the shoulder holding the gun. Two great shots however they weren’t lethal shots, it seemed he was still fixed on keeping his record perfect they did want him alive after all.
“You Little Shit!” the fat man called out as he grabbed one blade of ice in his hand then reached up to the one in his shoulder. The gun and clip were both on the ground now, sure he could reach for them but Sam would have another pair of blades before he even managed to pick them up, and it seemed the guy knew this so instead of reaching for the clip or the gun, he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a switch blade. Blinking slightly Sam took one step back and sidestepped towards the couch putting it behind him and the giant.
If the guy tried to throw it then Sam would be ready to dodge and respond, but if he decided to make it a closer range assault, then Sam was going to have to stick to his speed less he gets stepped on or worse sat on.
When Sam moved, Lori moved. She was his mirrored shadow. While the big man's focus was on the kid she knew she should do something. Tackle him or do a flying kick like Chun Lee... but when she raised her hands she saw red, slick and dripping fists. Shaking fists. She just wasn't a video game character.
Her chance was missed. Sam dove and rolled behind a couch and so Lori mimicked his movements. At least they were here together instead of one behind the wall and one behind the couch.
"Push it." She twisted and put her bloody hands on the frame of the couch heaving at it's weight. Whether they pushed it toward the big man or pushed it along as cover toward the door didn't matter to her. They needed to keep moving and with the couch here, they were trapped. So the natural solution was to move the couch.

It only took a second for Sam to fully realize what she meant, she wanted him to push the couch, she started to lean and Sam focused on the floor under the couch his foot slammed down and ice formed in front of the couch. A second passed and the couch started to move forward, fast enough to take the large guy by surprise. When Sam’s and the cheerleader’s feet came to the ice it quickly turned to water.
Another second passed and the couch came into contact with the large man’s knees. If everything went to plan the giant would be brought down to Sam’ level and his already slower self would have restricted movements. Movements that couldn’t prevent him from making the final strike ending this fiasco. Luck it seemed to be on his side, the couch took out the giant’s knees and he fell forward not aware however that the giant’s hands were falling right for him. It took Sam an instant to realize what happened when he felt the man strength on his shoulder forcing him down. The hand clamped shut and Sam winced as he felt himself be forced downwards.
Falling short of the floor Sam’s shirt ripped when his downward motion and the fat man’s grip went an opposite direction. Turning his body he fell into the back of the couch and pushed his feet up. It wasn’t exactly what he planned but he did manage to close the distance with the man and seeing as the larger man was still holding him up it also made things easier for Sam, what he wasn’t aware of however was what happened to the cheerleader, did she manage to move or did she get caught in the grab as well.
Turning his attention to her he checked to see what kind of situation she was in.
The couch rolled forward smoothly. Smoother than it should have. Her sneakers squeaked in water against the flooring. Oh right. Ice boy made ice. Wham. The couch hit home and the behemoth pitched forward. He pitched forward and his weight kept him pitching forward enough that he was able to grab little Sammy.
She put her hands out to... What? She didn't know. He grabbed Sammy and she... she tried to just grab the big guy. His face was the only thing near. Her hands were like claws and she was already closing them, desperately grabbing for anything.
Her head turned away. She had something squishy in her hands. Wet and squishy. And her hands kept closing just as the big man's hands grabbed up Sammy. Just as a big hand clawed back at her.
But it didn't have any strength in it. He was roaring and the hand receded, the hand around Sammy too. The hands were on her wrists now and she was still digging. Pulling, twisting, but determinedly not looking at whatever was making that squishy noise.

Time seemed to speed up on Sam momentarily and he felt himself float away in the currents of time, the massive hand that was once on him fell back and then there was a roar. Time seemed to slow down and he became aware of everything that was happening, it was a good thing too Sam forgot how much he missed spurts of adrenaline.
Eyes fixed on the cheerleader he suddenly felt a need to thank her, that’s… he lost count but it was another time she attempted to save him an act he wasn’t used to and didn’t know how to respond to. Her fingernails hit one of the large mans eyes along with a few chunks of flesh blood started to appear as Sam watched the man scream out in pain attempting to stop her from the clawing.
The massive hands wrapped around her wrists and that was when Sam decided to end it. Pushing his legs off the ground and hopping over the couch as the large man was distracted with the cheerleader Sam formed a fist and covered it with ice then brought it down hard to the large man’s side. With a crack and a roar the large man fell to the ground couch and rolled to the ground holding his sides now whimpering and crying out blindly for people that he would never catch.
Hopping over the side of the couch where the cheerleader was Sam placed his hand on the cheerleader’s shoulder, ”Ummm…” he said trying to get her attention, ”We should go!”
