The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike smiled. "So I'll remember that... saving the world is nothing compared to being able to use public plumbing. We can use that to freak out a villain some day, maybe."

Daria hit him playfully and stood holding out a hand even though she knew he didn't need it.
"You're alright, though, right?" she asked. She would've been able to tell his head was hurting if their minds had been connected. She was still weary of that. Besides the Johnny thing, emotions that took place while she was in heat were convoluted and intense. Sometimes her thoughts didn't make sense or they were of really sick. The old fashion way still worked.
"Mostly just my pride is hurt," Mike smirked as he took her hand and let her help pull him to his feet. He could STILL make out a few stray emotions that were leaking from her without pushing his mind into hers... she wasn't feeling anxious about him being around, far from it, so he was content to let her keep her privacy during this... rather odd time.
"True, true," Mike grinned, taking off, this time following her.
If she turned around, after a few minutes she'd see several objects floating behind them as Mike passed them... rocks, pine cones, a squirrel... anything he saw.

Daria did look around because this time she was a bit in front of Mike and wanted to make sure he was keeping up. She saw the floating objects, the squirrel in particular made her laugh.
"Mike? what are you doing?" she giggled out of breath.
"FLYING SQUIRREL ATTACK!" Mike shouted in classic cheesy action-anime style. He threw out his hand and the squirrels flew forward, past Daria, and landed lightly in the bushes, where they were free to scamper away. "Damn, I missed," he teased.

Daria had ducked out of second instinct, her first being to chase the squirels. She skidded on the ground, laughing before she got her footing and continued to run.
"fine, two can play at that game." she laughed. Suddenly she leapt into the trees, using her claws to keep her footing and dig into the wood. The combination of her weight and her force caused pinecones, acorns, loose, tiny sticks and even a few empty bird nests to fall from the trees.
"um...flying foliage attack?" she announced skeptically.
"Ummmm..." Ryan looked around quickly, then grabbed all the loose folliage he could grab off the ground and held it with his mind over him in a flat sheet. "Shield of wimpy leaves!"

((upside down kissing. that sounds familiar. hahaha)) Daria laughed in between kisses.
"Correction. Your girlfriend is purrrfect, she has no kinks. She may be kinky, but that's another story." she grinned and put her hands on his shoulders, flipping over so that she was on his back, her arms wrapped around his shoulders.
Mike just shrugged, reached back and grabbed her legs, and continued to jog, carrying her as they went. After a few minutes, Daria noticed a group of squirrels prancing behind them. "It's so not another story, it's part of the purrrfection."
