The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

That was probably the best response Sara could expect. The girl had no idea how things actually worked in the world of mutants and humans, nor did she seem to care.
James had tried to add to Sara’s reasoning, but the girl still seemed to be having troubling buying things. Sara leaned back against the bench with her arms crossed. “Again, I say you can take things how ever you want to take them, kid. But if you’re really that tired and want help getting home, tell us.”
Her tail flicked back and forth as it dangled over the side of the bench. “If you want to make it home on your own, it seems you have people watching you now. You could make it home.” Sara said with a glance at the people that were now staring at them from their windows.
James loosened his grip as he felt her struggling slightly. "Sorry." he muttered, though only half-heartedly. She glared at both of them, something else he didn't find surprising. "Thanks for the help, but I'm better off on my own. I wouldn't want my parents seeing me with monsters like you guys." she said it so cruelly, and emplying the word Monsters? James was going to lose it. "This is how I get treated after going to a kid's rescue." he muttered, as she pushed his hand from her shoulder.
She walked backwards a few times, not keeping the 'Monsters' out of her sight. James backed up also, tripping slightly over the bench's legs. He gained his balance again, but he didn't know what to tell the young fleeing girl anymore. She was unbalanced as she tried to walk away from them, and he felt actually a little guilty. "We aren't monsters." he repeated a few times under his breath, aware that Sara was right behind him, and that quite possibly, she could hear everything he was whispering as clearly as his now-not-all-that-enhanced hearing.
He took a deep breath, and then tore his eyes away from the girl. Who cares what she thought of them? Most humans thought the exact same thing, but he still wanted to help them, didn't he? He was a Mutant, and he was proud of it. He wasn't going to hurt humans though, even if he was a proud mutant. If both races could get along, wouldn't everything be so much simpler? He slowly turned back to Sara, shrugging slightly. "Well, that went very well. Remind me why I helping humans is a good thing, and I won't be so angry at myself right now." he said to her.
Sara’s right ear twitched as she watched the girl back pedal away from them, after she said what she did. Yeah it hurt, but Sara dealt with it every day. She sort of pitted this James. He obviously was still getting used to it.
The girl turned and Sara watched her go. Keeping a protective and slightly disappointed eye on her as she disappeared into one of the buildings. In her peripheral vision, she could see other people watching the girl as well, from the comfort of their own apartments. Someone would be very stupid to try anything on her at this very moment.
"We aren't monsters."
“Get used to it or choose to hide.” Sara grumbled. She was a little sick of this. What did he expect? A medal? Human’s just don’t have their own beliefs and it’s hard to get past things, when people know they believe something.
"Well, that went very well. Remind me why I helping humans is a good thing, and I won't be so angry at myself right now."
Sara shrugged. “Would you have felt worst just letting her get mugged, attacked, or other things? Even knowing her reaction. If your answer is no, then I have no idea why you helped. If it’s yes, then there’s you answer.” She shrugged again and started walking down the street to her chosen home for the night.
James sighed, "You're right." he said blankly, "I can't do nothing and watch humans get hurt, even if they think I'm a monster. I don't want to be that kind of guy who hides either. I need to do something to help the world, for both humans and mutants alike." he raised his chin slightly, looking around at all the faces in the Apartement windows. He remembered Ghost from that same afternoon, and the Mansion. He had made his choice now. The Mansion could help him out, and he needed to go back. Xavier's Institute, the Sister School. That was where he belonged and even if his name wasn't on file, everybody had to start off somewhere.
His eyes trailed the street absentmindedly, he'd been waiting three years for something like this to happen. What exactly, he'd never been able to put his finger on it, but he wasn't meant to hide and do nothing all his life. He needed to find answers, help the world be a better place for the two kinds alike. The Mansion was the perfect place for it to start. "You helped me a lot tonight Sara," he said slowly, looking into her amber cat-like eyes now. "More then you could ever imagine, I don't know how to thank you." he closed his eyes, knowing she probably had no idea where he was going with this all.
After all, as far as she knew, the only thing she'd done was knock out a few bad guys to save a little girl, not him. 'Well, Sara, you did way more then that tonight.' he thought, his mouth twitching in a small grin. "I need to go to Xavier's Institute, I made a mistake earlier today that I got to fix." he said, but just then, he remembered his bag, still tucked safely behind that dumpster. He'd have to return to get it before going to his Apartement. "I told them I couldn't stay there, but I think that was the wrong choice. The Mansion is where I might find answers to my questions."
Sara sort of smirked as he said she was right. of course she was right. She knew she was right. If only more people listened to her. “You’re one of the rare ones.”
"You helped me a lot tonight Sara, More then you could ever imagine, I don't know how to thank you."
“Don’t thank me. All I said was my opinion.” If Sara’s opinion was anything else, she could be just as unhelpful as helpful. Even a royal pain in the tail side. “I’ve got to go too. Watch your back, be safe” Sara said as she turned with the tip of her tail flicking, and started walking to her home for the night.
James nodded, "Yeah, same goes to you." he said as they parted ways. James glanced back at her a few seconds later, but she was already too far gone for him to see her properly in the darkness of the night. He yawned, maybe a few hours of sleep would do him some good. He walked back towards the Dumpster, and picked up his stuff.
"E-Mail can wait," he said to himself as he walked over to check on the Muggers. As he expected, they'd gone by now. With one last glance over his shoulder, he made his way towards his car, which was parked a few yards from the Bar. His bed was sounding very comfortable just about now.
